I was visiting My daughters and grandchildren in Oklahoma and we decided to go bowling a few days before the young ones had to be back at school and boy am I glad we chose this bowling alley! Overall we had a great time; I was able to convince My 79.7 year young Mother to bowl for the very first time in her life and she loved it! The all male staff was extremely professional and super helpful in helping us get the best deal not to mention patient and understanding with the few visits to the arcade ! We also enjoyed a few items from their kitchen, yummy, yummy burger, tater tots and mozzarella cheese sticks ! Cocktails were right on point also! My family and I happened to be at Sooner Bowl for a private event. I have to say we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff, all of them we encountered, were very attentive, polite and helpful. We were greeted with smiles and laughs. The alley itself is nice. It is standard and yes for some it maybe outdated. But, I personally enjoy that. Sometimes when it is all fancy with bells and whistles you lose sight on the task at hand... bowling and having fun. We had pizza, and soft drinks. The pizza was great. It's a bowling alley pizza, I did not expect some award winning pizza. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. It was good enough that we would order it again. By golly was it hot in the place, phew. Well this spot has 24 lanes, food/bar section, billiard tables nice location in the NW section of Norman as well. However, the middle aged employee working the food and beverage counter in the arcade was rude to most customers he interacted with (especially the teenagers and kids). I hired Sooner Bowling to host my child's birthday. They had double booked us and ended up accommodating us by setting up our party in a private room. It gave me hope that the rest of the party would be fine. Our party hostess was so incompetent on what to do and how to help. There was another woman who was helping her out and was obviously busy with other things. She was able to give some relief and help. The other girl sat there instead of serving food or cutting and serving cake. Asking me questions like if there's anything else I need but it felt more overwhelming. I wanted my child's birthday party to be somewhere that would set up for us, and host the party so I could focus on enjoying the party and taking pictures. I don't have a single picture of me in the party because my hostess did such the bare minimum. There was still so many decorations I had brought that weren't used. She asked to eat food from us? And then by the end of it was getting an attitude. When trying to move a very heavy present my husband said he could get it and she said no I will do it it's my job! In a rude way after not doing her job the entire party. And still had a bad attitude. When she asked me at the end of it if there was anything she could have done better I couldn't even say anything to her because there's too much to say. I didn't even get to spend any time in the arcade, I was cleaning up the room. and we were only handed the cards at the very end of our time. I go here often, like 3 times a week. The management likes to close all the lanes during the day and not mention it on their website. Some of the employees are super nice and understanding but some are straight up rude. If there was anywhere else in Norman to bowl I would stop going to Sooner bowl but there isn't. read more

Only been here a handful of times, but this may be the place I come to bowl (when I bowl). Obviously the hip place right now HeyDay has a bowling alley, but they are terribly overrated and overpriced. And bowling is bowling. We went here a few months ago for a friends birthday party and received some free passes to return. The thing I like about Sooner bowl is they are all very friendly. There is a guy Jon who I have seen both times. He not only set us up with our lane, but also made us a pizza and brought it to our lane for us! My significant other had a work group outing here one Friday night. We arrived early enough to snag 2 lanes while a league tournament was just about to start. The league took up half the bowling alley. Apparently, various leagues are set up Monday-Friday, September-April. Weekends are open play/glow bowling nights. Bowling. I'm good at it. I've been playing since I was 8. It's an old family pastime. Sooner Bowling Center? Kind of small and real rough around the edges! Not all of the bumpers work so if you have first time bowlers or kids with you, mention this upon arrival. The recorded bowling speed spits out the same speed for every bowler. Dated? Yes, but it is smoke free and the service was pretty decent. When balls got stuck in the middle of the lane, someone would help us out. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We went expecting to do the unlimited bowling until 2 am. They kicked us out at 1 even though signs on door said open until two. We had just bought a bucket of beer we did not get to finish. When I mentioned that all they had to say was they shouldn't have sold it to us. Don't ever go here they over charge you and lie there was a group of 7 of us and we asked for him to split it between all of us and he charged us 25 dollars more than every one else once I showed them my cash! Sooner Bowling on 24th Avenue in Norman, is an awesome place to be. I have been there for several birthday parties and corporate events and they always put on a good show. There were times in the past that I honestly couldn't say that about them, but they have really cleaned the place up in the past 5 years and gotten their groove back. I don't know if it's a management change or what, but the differences are highly noticeable. The lanes, the lighting, the arcade, the food service are all awesome and the managers and help there are very polite and take care of any need. My kids bowl there all summer during the kids bowl free promotions and most of the time we bowl with them too. What a great price and promotion, I am glad that they participate in this program it has made bowlers out of all of us. The pricing is very fair. The snack bar has food that is better than a lot of Norman restaurants. The Kids Bowl Free program in the summer is great for families. If you ever want to know more about bowling, they have really knowledgeable staff. They can even help you with your bowling technique for a few minutes if you ask. This place is really old and I can tell the owner doesn't care about customers. The gutters don't even work because the bumpers are not automatic. So instead of moving us. When one employee tells you an additional lane is $20 and then your charged $85, it's a little frustrating to say the least. What's more irritating is when the employee tells you they do the care if you come back or not because you're mad that they over charged you. I asked whatever happened to customer service.
