I wouldn't suggest getting lashes done here. I got a medium set with individuals and it looked extremely natural which I don't like. The glue also burned my eyes and my lashes were stuck together when I tried to open my eyes. It was full and voluminous so I couldn't complain too much. Two days after getting it, lashes were falling out. They were all lifting by a week. I don't think it's worth it for $35. read more

A hidden gem in the middle of 1960. I was looking for an alternative threading shop and came across Sony's. Taniya took care of my eyebrows and did a great job! I've been coming here for over a year. Last year someone messed up my right eyebrow and it took me almost a year to finally get the shape back. I went for my usual clean up and the lady took off so much of my hair even after I said to just clean them up. She reshaped it to her liking and left them both super uneven. I am really upset about this. It will take me probably a year to regrow them to the thick shape they were at and I will never return. The photos speak for themselves. read more

IF I COULD LEAVE 0 stars I would even negative 0. Please stay away from this place at all cost. I went to get my eyebrows threaded this was my first visit. The service was horrible, I said hi, no one acknowledged me. I should have known when I was extremely anxious out of nowhere. I told the woman who serviced me I wanted my lip waxed and around my mouth area. I had never waxed anything but my lip before but I trusted they would get the job done as needed. The lady not only burned my neck with the wax and didn't even care or apologize when I reacted to the burn she went from somehow waxing around my mouth area to my sideburns. When I looked in the mirror it literally looked like a 5 year old played with wax on my face. It was patchy and uneven and the woman was looking at me like everything was normal. I was being patient because I had never waxed more than my lip and knew I might feel weird seeing it but that was ridiculous, one side of my side burn was waxed while the other wasn't and I specifically told her not to touch my sideburns. I left there with wax on part of my face and cried my eyes out in my car because I was just so frustrated and overwhelmed. Not once was I disrespectful or rude to these people with how bad of a job that was done on my face. I called to speak to the manager after I was calm and the woman told me she was busy. I asked when would be best to call her and she kept telling me she was busy but I should come in. I called later and I was still told to come in I told them I could not as I was working and all I wanted to do was speak to management. Again I was polite to these ridiculously rude people, the woman started to yell and said I should come in and was just blatantly rude. The owner also went on google and called me ghetto (keep in mind that I am a black woman) and abusive, also keep in my mind I did not have any kind of exchange or interaction with her nor did I ever use any abuse in or out of the establishment. She also lied and stated they called me and asked me to come back in which never happened. I called three times after I left and was told the manager was to busy to speak to me. read more

Well let me start of to say it had a very bad odor and all the ladies working where very rude .. I asked if i could use the restroom and the ladies just looked at me as if i had something on my face and talked in there language and told me it was out of order ... this place is very filthy ! and not to mention i left highly disappointed i do not know how this place is still in business... i cried myself to sleep after left ill let the pictures do the speaking read more

I've lived on the north side of Houston for almost 3 years now. I began going to Sony's shortly afterwards. I have graced pretty much all of the ladies chairs with no problems but my go-to is Taniya. She does a great job on my brows and face (I sometimes get a full face threading). She is patient and extremely kind. My mother usually goes to the shop with me for her services as well. If my mom is not with me, all of the ladies ask about her and tell me to let them know they said hi. I always recommend people to visit Sony's. read more

I love coming here to get my eyebrows threaded. It's similar to a place I used to go to on 1960 and Jones Rd. when I used to live on the other side of town. I'm glad I found this place. The location is a little sketchy, but many people still go here for services. They only charge $6 for eyebrows, which is way cheaper than Shapes at the mall. Shapes offers monthly memberships, but the quality here is better. Sony and Jimmy (sp?) are great. I tried the mini facial, which is $20 for 30 mins. It's really nice, and they extract your pores from impurities. They started offering nail services last year. I got a mani/pedi here before my best friend's wedding. Julie and her mom are friendly and do great work for cheap. They offer Swedish massages now. I can't wait to try that, too! read more

The approach was just all around not very nice. Your unwillingness to help me from the beginning is what made me upset. I love this place! I commute from the downtown area to Sony's because they consistently do a great job. Eyebrow threading is painless, accurate and quick. I also get my eyebrows tinted which lasts around two weeks and makes my morning makeup routine a breeze because my eyebrows are perfect! MIA is the best at eyebrows!!! She will leave your eyebrows looking natural, and not thin what so ever. She also lines your eyebrows together, and does everything symmetrical!! I've been going to her for quite some time now, and have now sent my sisters over there to her. They are amazed by her work also! Taniya is the best! I also like the rocker looking chick sorry I forgot her name. Make sure you tell them how you want your eyebrows or else they have free range. I usually always leave satisfied. Thankfully, this was NOT the case with AOF, because they exceeded my expectations. I found AOF on Instagram searching with the hashtag #ombrebrows and #eyelashextensions. I was first impressed with how clean and professional their social media page was displayed. Most pages I previously found with the same hashtags always seemed to be missing information that I needed to make an informed decision when booking services. There was either not enough pictures of their work, unclear on services offered and how to book, or the posts were unorganized and looked very "spammy" on the page. However, this was not the case with AOF. The page was VERY clean and professional. They included BEFORE and AFTER photos of each client they performed services on. Each photo included a description of what the client booked, and the price. This made the booking process EXTREMELY user friendly because you did not have to guess which service to select. I also love that they show clients ranging in age and various skin tones, to have an idea of how things will look on you. The other major difference that set them apart was the booking process. The link for booking was included in the bio at the top of the page, with deposit instructions stated clearly, as well as, after care instructions for the Ombré Brows. This showed me they really prioritize the customer's health and safety. When arriving to my appointment, I was pleasantly surprised with decor of the suite and the ambiance that it created in the service and waiting areas. The suite was clean, sanitized, and Covid-19 friendly. There were two women that worked on me, Brittany and Ceon. They were super friendly, and greeted me with a warm welcome. They looked very professional, and wore shirts with business logos and it really added that extra layer of professionalism. Brittany did my lashes, and Ceon did my brows, and they are great at what they do. I was so in love with both services and how they turned out! They used great products, because I have had no problems with my lashes falling off or anything irritating my skin around my eyes or brows. They have definitely gained a long term client, and I look forward to booking my next appointment. I would DEFINITELY recommend using them! They are a one-stop-shop! I've been going here for years!! I normally have Sony or tanyia thread my eyebrows. They always leave them the way I like It. Very welcoming and friendly to all guests that come in. And pricing is reasonable. Way better than paying the $10/$11 at the malls. Deff recommend this place! read more

I went in for a hair cut and because it's a salon, I never tell them Im allergic to cheap shampoos with sulfate. Well this lady squirts the cheapest, cherry FLAVOR shampoo. When I noticed the smell I asked about it. She said it doesnt. But asked to see the ingredients. And Theres was. Right up there at the top! I asked that she rinse it out FAST. She told me three times that I should have told her and it's not her fault?! While rinsing the sulfate was going down my back because she hadn't put a towel to protect my neck. Never had that be a thing. Anyway. I don't pay. Because hell. It took 5 minutes and I was scared to break out in hives. And who in their right mind would charge me for that? Well the owner calls me a liar and say I just wanted a free hair washing!!!!!! I was taken aback. I said do I look HOMELESS to you???Then they came and almost assaulted me because I took a picture of their sign. They were yelling at me through the window of my car. And pretended to call the police. I asked if she was the owner. She said no. She's a customer. Blatant lie!!! Im a small business owner too. I hate to be leaving this review. But that was way too much. They were threatening me and calling me a thief and a liar after they basically poisoned me.

I didn't ask for it but it was already too late by the time she started cutting it. As she was cutting it I kept telling her "please don't cut it too short or too much" and she just kept rudely telling me "this is long layers, maam" (which I did not ask for) and she ruined my long hair!! It looks so short now and I hate it. Come here for a trim but I wouldn't get styled here. I'm chillin tho and I'm not gonna mess with them abt it because a lot of my hair was dead at the ends from dye anyways, i probably needed it. But it's still messed up to just do whatever you want to someone's hair, I feel like it's borderline abuse. She cut off 3 inches instead of 1 which is what I asked for. WAAAY too much. 2nd pic is my long hair and the first is the very short cut she gave me. They were also very rude and bland and brushed me off a lot. Did I mention the moment I walked in, they were doing someone's hair already and only had one hairdresser, so they made me wait 30 minutes before I could even get my cut.
