If you're looking for a nice enriching atmosphere for your child, with staff that is friendly then this is definitely not the daycare for you. The director is a rude, uncaring and unprofessional woman with horrible communication skills. They are understaffed but won't communicate that to you. Instead they will shuffle your child from classroom to classroom with children younger or older than they are to apparently balance the ratios. I never knew what my child did during the day. No sheet was ever sent home and they never utilized the online communication system. The previous daycare he attended he had absolutely no issues with going, he would run into his classroom so excited to be there. At Sonshine he would start crying before he even left his bed. Horrible daycare and I would not recommend this to anyone. I was so relieved when a spot opened up at another daycare and we left immediately. read more

Love this daycare, would highly recommend it! I had to go back to work 6 weeks pp, and as a first time mom I was a little anxious especially with being new to the area and not knowing anyone to recommend a daycare to us. This daycare made me feel super comfortable with leaving my 6 week old baby girl, they would send pictures through an app everyday and even tell us when she ate, how much, when she took naps and for how long, and when they would even change her diaper. Everyone there was always super nice and nurturing. Sadly we had to relocate to another state but I wish I could take this place with me. My wife and I have placed three children over the past seven years with Sonshine. In that time we have been very satisfied both with the care provided and the staff. My children come home happy. What issues I've had I've brought to the Director's (Mrs. Kilburn) attention, and they've been addressed to my satisfaction. Mr and Mrs. Kilburn treat us like family and always have. The teachers there are nice, but while my son has been in attendance there, he has been bitten about 5x's in one month. One week he was bitten twice. They said they moved the child to a different classroom, but he was still getting bit. I was signing incident reports almost every week because a child was hurting him and not the other way around. I understand if it happens every now and then, but that was ridiculous. Also, the director is not very friendly. read more

I had my infant in this daycare for roughly 5 months and was extremely unhappy here. I felt the wholeestablishment was more of a money mill and that the management was less interested in the welfare of the children they housed than the dollars they brought in. They were hard pressed to keep staff. I believe we went through 6-7 employees in the infant room during the time we were there. Also- I didn't feel that it was appropriate to repeatedly find my infant strapped in a highchair and seated in front of a television. I would not recommend this Daycare. The assistant director is a sweet woman, the teachers (that my child had) are nice but I have had some minor issues with. Ex: putting two diapers on my child at nap time, sending pissy clothes home everyday, and on three different occasions have sent my child home with a diaper rash so bad that they could not walk straight and I was not warned nor did it have any ointment on it! That being said, THE DIRECTOR IS HORRIBLE. She is very aggressive, defensive, and completely unapproachable! After going to her with a problem I had encountered, calmly may I add, she was quick to belittle me and implied that my requests were ridiculous. The next day I was greeted with an apology letter because she knew that she was out of line. She doesn't say hello, doesn't say good-bye, and just isn't who I would want my child to be around. Oh BTW... I turned in the mandatory two weeks notice that I would be removing my child and with one days notice, a letter was placed in my child's bag stating that they did not find it necessary for my child to return for their final week. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Good luck parents but their is no "Sonshine" in this woman's heart. read more

This daycare is a parent's worst nightmare. The staff is unprofessional, dishonest, and doesn't seem to have a genuine interest in the kids.We signed our 2 year old son up for Sonshine upon moving to the area, and took him out after attending for a week. Leaving your child somewhere new can be a scary venture for both parents and children, and this establishment made the transition absolutely miserable. They were very vague when I called to check on him, which left me feeling super uneasy. Upon enrolling, we were told a sheet would be sent home with him daily outlining his day. It had places on it for them to list what he ate for each meal, how many times he pottied, what his mood was, etc. When I went to pick our son up, however, the sheet was blank. I literally had no idea WHAT his day was like. After speaking with the supervisor about the issue, she said she would get onto her staff about not filling out the sheets. That was day one. When I picked up our son on the following day, he was in completely different clothes and I was told he had wet himself. That sent up immediate red flags- as this NEVER happens. Ever. I immediately got out his sheet and it was half way completed, showing what he had for breakfast, and leaving other meal spots blank. No idea if he'd eaten lunch. It also had some times listed for when his diaper had been changed, but it looked suspicious, as extra times were added there in the end, in different writing/ink/etc. That was day two. The following day I counted how many diapers he left with and waited to check the times they had listed for changings when I picked him up. They had 5 or 6 times listed, but only 3 of his diapers had been used, leading me to believe it was a complete lie, and thus showing me why his clothes needed to be changed the previous day. Anytime my husband or I went by the daycare, the kids were never learning or doing anything, though on multiple occasions they were watching tv, which is disturbing. Our son wasn't the same in the period of time he was enrolled here, and it was the most heartbreaking feeling I've ever endured. Even in the horrible position we were in, both having jobs to go to, we couldn't bring ourselves to take him back. We spoke to the owners who offered no type of apologies or explanations, and would not refund us for the upcoming week we'd paid for. There was nothing about this daycare that emitted religion, warmth, or kindness, and I would never recommend it to anyone who cares for their child's happiness and wellbeing. read more
