We enjoyed many years of great service from Sonrisa, but as of today we are done doing business with them. We attempted to re-schedule, not cancel, appts for my wife and daughter but they insisted that we pay a $35 cancelation fee for each. We weren't canceling, but rescheduling due to our dog having surgery and daughter having a test at school. We have never had a problem rescheduling in the past. They didn't budge on the fee, so we have decided to pay the fees and take our business elsewhere. It seems like the customer service and professionalism within this office has gone downhill over the last year or so. If you're willing to lose 4 long time patients over a $35 fee, well then we don't need you either. The only thing we will miss about this office is the hygienist, Brenda. Thank you Brenda for always providing exceptional service over the years, we will miss you. When Dr Barber and Dr Thusu were there, this office was great. Let me tell you about this place. I have been a patient of this facility since before 2008 and since then my oral health has been the same the only change is the crowns on my front teeth. I listened to the provider's recommendations and since then it seems so many corrections towards crowns have been recommended for my other teeth due to the 2 front crowns mind you, yet previously before changing my crowns of the two front teeth had never had any issues period since February the crowns have fallen out twice mind you have never had problems before with falling crowns other teeth needing crowns needing Invisalign never have any of those recommendations ever been made, so as a customer, it seems no one cares about the customer. Again since the building went up I have been a customer and, sadly, the ownership has turned into just caring about making money. Very sad !!! read more

I had some MAJOR problems and no insurance. I had them pull 2 teeth and I had 3 cavities to be filled plus a cleaning. I mean this was not cheap but it did not feel like they were overcharging me. I saw a Dr. Neda Niknami. I highly recommend her. She seemed very aware that I had no insurance and was accommodating as possible. She was VERY empathetic.. She is one of those YOU WILL FEEL NO PAIN doctors. I really liked her. She has a great bedside (seatside?) manor. I could not have asked for a better Doctor. I highly recommend her. Mathew assisted her and took my X-Rays... What a great guy. He just seems like a good human all around. I enjoyed having him take care of me. I could say the same about the staff at the front desk. Super long review but trust me, if you care for your teeth, you'll want to read this. I see that a majority of these reviews have been from years ago, so let me give a recent one. I went in about 10 months ago for my first visit due to a broke tooth. They told me the reason I had no pain was due to the fact that my tooth had died and I needed a root canal. As well as me needing fillings. First appointment was great! Got my teeth cleaned, a diagnoses and X-rays. Let's skip & start at the points where they RUSHED doing one of my fillings, causing me to not be able to eat certain crunchy foods. Chips, celery, carrots. Literally anything that's crunchy. ANYTHING. It has to be eaten on the other side or completely soft. In one of my visits I told them which tooth and they blamed my old appointments with other dentists, for messing up my tooth. Mind you, it was COMPLETELY fine, except a slight cavity before I had visited them. Which I'm sure could have been reversed with just more brushing. Partly myself to blame. So they decided to shave down a completely different tooth.. Now to skip to my last 2-3 appointments for my root canal. Every time they had done a root canal they had to numb me SO many times and I blame it on the fact that they weren't careful about where they stuck the needles (local anesthetic.) at one point they went so deep into my tissue that it was like in my throat basically and I couldn't properly swallow. I'm no dentist but, isn't it only supposed to be in the gums surrounding said tooth? So the doctor ended up putting a temporary cap on, which one assistant was not listening to her and literally tried pulling that shit off!!! RIGHT AFTER IT WAS DONE! I complained about pain over and over and FINALLY he got the doctor and she came in and asked what the problem was. He told her, she replied with, "it's temporary, it's supposed to stay on, she can go home." So they sent me home. Though, every time for the last three visits (4 in total) I kept complaining about TERRIBLE pain coming from the tooth and they just kept denying it was my tooth and stated, "you shouldn't be feeling any pain, the tooth and root are dead?" To which I said, "I can feel it IN my tooth. Like IN it. All temperatures. Warm, hot, cold, room temp. I'm even drinking on one side." They ignored it and blamed it on my gum "just being sensitive." Now to finish: The day of my last appointment, which I took MONTHS on going back because I had NEVER been scared of the dentist before in my life. EVER. I was practically sobbing while they were numbing me. Which they didn't even wait for it to fully take affect before they clipped half of the remaining of my tooth OFF. I don't know if THATS supposed to happen. My temporary crown wore down over time because I could only eat on one side and it had been months since applied. I'm not going to lie to you guys, the smell was RANCID. Even my boyfriend was a bit shocked. So they put on the crown that, didn't even fit my tooth because they let the last dental assistant mess it up so many times, they basically gave up?? Now a few months later I'm in extreme pain, can't chew on either sides, my gum goes numb sometimes, my gum turned purple. Oh did I mention they NEVER ONCE did a check in to see how I was doing!!!!! Only to set appointments. Which one of those I made for the fact that's my gum was turning purple. They never gave antibiotics, which dentist are allowed to do because root canals can cause infections! I'm honestly very upset and shocked that there are no other reviews as of recently. I'm DEFINITELY finding a dentist I trust because my teeth are something I take serious as hell. Oh, also, to just keep piling on . One of the dental assistants said how they had a choice in something like 6 months schooling and chose... the short and easy route... just about 2-3 months.. what the fu-??? read more

I dislike writing Yelp Reviews buuuuut Sonrisa Dental changed my life! Just kidding! Went in for a cleaning today...dreading it like most of you but this office (from the staff in the front helping you with paper work to the dental hygienist in the back - are professional and make you feel comfortable) Ginger the dental hygienist took great care of me, knowing I was nervous about having sensitive teeth - she took her time to explain everything she was doing! Stopping when I winced in discomfort - even offering dulling medication when I didn't even know that was an option, making my cleaning that less stressful!! Turns out the dentist isn't that scary!! The staff in the front took the time to explain paperwork, going over prices when I asked a billion questions, which trust me - I had. I recently had work done at Sonrisa Dental on Nacogdoches with Dr. Thusu. I can't brag on them enough! The front office and assistant staff were gracious and pleasant and caring. I totally enjoyed (yeah, crazy, right?) my three trips to this office. Dr. Thusu did several fillings for receding gums and my teeth look great! Also, where as before this work with Dr. Thusu, my bite felt a little off, he corrected the imbalance and now my mouth and my teeth are soooo much better. This is the best dentist I've ever been to. If I'd found a dentist like this earlier in my life, I would have gone a lot more often! read more

I definitely recommend Sonrisa Dental! I was happy to see the office is very up to date on technology. Not only is the office really nice, but most importantly, the dentists are very knowledgable. I have had several appointments with Dr. Faraj. It is obvious that Dr. Faraj truly cares about his patients and will take the extra time to make sure his dental work is perfect. This was not a practice that I felt cared more about dollar signs and quantity rather than quality. overall, a great experience. the dental assistants are both friendly and professional. i was a bit nervous not having been to the dentist but both doctors make you feel at ease and are always asking if you are okay during the process. my only criticism would be the front desk who can sometimes come off a bit rude/condescending. however, i'd definitely go back for another visit. read more
