The friendly greeting upon arrival was most welcoming. I was initially disappointed that there was no Ribeye steak so I chose the blu cheese salad. That's how I remember. In NC, my home state. The salads are served differently. This salad had French fries underneath the salad and was so delicious. The buffalo chicken was cooked perfectly too. The ambience reminded me of an old Italian restaurant too. Everywhere I sat, a tv can be seen if that is your thing. Overall I was very impressed with Sonny's. Highly recommend read more

This was our second dinner at Sonny's. Our main courses were good. I had a steak and it came out on the stone and was very good. The other dinner was the Steak Gorgonzola and it was very good. The fried zucchini was excellent. My only issues were, the prices are a little high for the area and our drinks were weak. I did witness a customer come in, sit down, ordered a beverage and review the menu and decided to leave. I wasn't trying to ease drop, but heard him advise the prices were to much for him. read more

Had their Pittsburgh style sandwich. I don't think the fryer was up to temp because the fries on it were very greasy and not crispy.

Got the chicken Parmesan. It was absolutely delicious. Chicken was cooked. Perfect pasta was great and the sauce was phenomenal. read more

Got a Stromboli and wife got a Reuben on gluten free bun. Both were excellent. Beer was cold and server was personable and attentive. We had a good time and got to the place just prior to dinner rush. More servers arrived and seemed to work well together to handle the crowd. There were a lot of to go pick up orders and all seemed to go smoothly. read more

We went in there today to have dinner. We were seated immediately and we sat there for 10 to 15 minutes. There was only one other couple in the restaurant and they were talking about how they had been in there since 3:30 and they did not get their food. It was 4:30. The blonde lady that works there came over. Talked to them. Looked right at us. Two or three times didn't even acknowledge us and we sat there and once we heard that they did not get their food. The other table we looked at each other and we walked out and this is what you're going to get when you go to this restaurant and this is not the first time that this happened to us at this restaurant. I'm not sure what's going on but things need to change or the owner is going to lose his business over this. Good luck going there. read more

I happened to be in town for the first time and decided to try out Sonny's Grille--and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, but what truly made my experience unforgettable was our amazing waitress, Serinity. She went above and beyond in every way--friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great time. It felt like she actually cared about our experience, which is rare these days. You could tell she knew the menu inside and out, and thanks to her recommendation, we tried the pierogies... and wow. Absolutely delicious! Her enthusiasm for the food was contagious, and she made us feel like we were regulars even though it was our first visit. If you're ever lucky enough to dine at Sonny's Grille, do yourself a favor and ask for Serinity. She's the kind of person who turns a good meal into a great memory. Thank you for making my trip so special--I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! read more

Reliable service, consistent preparation. I'm a long time customer and local resident. The crab cakes and fish tacos are excellent. Rachael makes it happen and gives it a personal touch. No complaints. Also a nice place to just have a glass of wine or cocktail. read more

Great dive bar. Had the crab sandwich for lunch, it was very tasty. Went back for dinner and had some cocktails. They were also very tasty. I ordered the gyro salad and it was fantastic. I will be back. read more

I paid for 2 racks of ribs ($19+$5 for second rack), which were good, but the portion was very small and looked like what was presented in the menu as 1 rack! I did check with the waitress and she said that I had received my 2 racks!! I pretty sure no!! So even if these were meant to be 1/2 racks, still 4-5 rib would not qualify!! Also Cole slaw was dressed with i think straight vinegar?? Not good!! And while I'm bitching, for $14 only got 2 mushrooms stuffed with crab. Like the ribs, tasted good, but a very small portion for $14! read more

Crab cakes were delicious. Our waitress Rachel was amazing!!! I had a tasty Long Island Iced tea.

Service was great and the food was good. (My lemon for my water and lime for my tacos were also cut perfectly and packed with flavor, which makes me very happy!) No complaints :) read more

Food was very good. Server was exceptional! Ambiance is good. When we're in the neighborhood it's our go to place!

We saw this place from the road and stopped in. Supper was great. Service was awesome. The ambiance was very mom and pops place. It was welcoming and the menu was hard to narrow down with all the great options. Full bar and lots to choose from. I don't see why anyone would eat any where else! read more

We stopped for lunch and decided on Pgh Style corned beef & pgh style steak. The sammiches were good but a cream based cole slaw would go much better than the oil based slaw. The sandwiches were big & plentiful plus you get fries or homemade chips. We opted for the chips which were fabulous. The service was great and if you need to wash that big fat sammy down with a cold brew, they have that also. read more

Wide variety of food options, generous portions, attentive service, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Food is always delicious!

You guys get one star because your Price points are crazy!! Where do you think you are? Everything was wonderful except for the price. Is it the owner or the chef that has little D* energy. 18 dollars for a personal pizza. Your tripping! 13 dollars for 6 fried Mrs Ts pirogies. You should be ashamed of yourself. Here's the best part... There is a ridiculously priced steak that comes on a stone that you have to cook yourself. SMH If I wanted to cook my own steak I would stay home. These people have two restaurants in this area and if they don't learn they are doomed. I feel bad only because the staff is extremely kind. These prices indicate they care about nothing but profits. I'll never be back. read more

Used to come here, and quit, because service got a little...negligent. Started to come again, after about a two year hiatus. Very pleased with my past 3 recent visits. Service is better, and food is still great. Sonny's has some of the best appetizers around. I truly recommend trying their fried cheese, pretzel, and fried pickles. The fried zucchini is good, but you have to like paper thin-sliced, flour covered zucchini. Its good, but I know that "type" is not for everyone. The Pittsburgh-Style sandwiches are better than any other place around that serves that type of sandwich..hands down. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this grille right off the interstate. First of all they have more than bar food here. The service is excellent. Waitress was quick to help us out, the food came quickly too. I had the crab cake sandwiches with chips and a side salad. The crab cake was good not spicy, very traditional. The bun was two large although it was fresh the chips were awesome, not sure if they were home made or shipped in. Great choices of beer. Salad was fresh and had a lot of cheese. read more

The wait staff was great and the food was very good with reasonable prices. We were seated quickly and the service was attentive but not over bearing. read more

I keep trying to like this place mostly bc it's in a food desert. When I visit family we come back. I thought last summer I would not come back bc of the mediocre food and honestly filthy outdoor deck. Shoes stick to a surface caked with dirt and food. This place needs power washed! Ordered a chicken sandwich and it came with fries that were cold and limp. My sis ordered a pesto sandwich of some kind and there was nothing close to pesto on it. It's not hard to make this type of food so to consistently fail shows the owner doesn't care. read more

Very large menu with a lot of variety. Seafood always seems fresh and food seems to be made to order. Last time we visited I got a salad with salmon and my fish was very undercooked, however, otherwise we have never been disappointed. Service is always fast and friendly and they also have a great bar selection. Outdoor patio is great especially in the summer. Good for an in town date night or relaxed dinner when you just don't feel like cooking! read more

went there when it was pretty dead between dinner and their night crowd. over heard the bar tender telling a gentleman how long until your party gets here we are keeping extra staff on for the large party. okay so we order our food pizza and pasta. an 40 min later the pizza shows up in that whole time we get one drink refill because they never checked on us my pasta never shows up so we ask her to take it off the check her response do you want me to box it up so you can take it home when they are done making it so they had not even finished making it yet. two other tables who had come in after us had gotten their food. the large party had not shown yet or I could be a lot more understanding but over stuffed not busy and not even an apology for forgetting my food. we have eaten there a few times and the food is usually pretty good, the service is too. of course we still left a tip because if the cooks forgot to make my dish not the waitress fault but one refill in an hour with a bunch of extra staff standing around waiting and not getting my food was a little much they usually do better. read more

Sonny's Grille is a wonderful place to eat at. Great service friendly staff amazing food. I go as much as I can to get the Crab Cakes they are definitely the best on the east coast. Great place to hang out allot of decor to keep your eyes occupied, coupled with great service and a very wait staff I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a chance. read more

I placed a take out order of some pretty messy food as we were traveling through the area. Typically restaurants will give you utensils for the food, or have the courtesy of asking if you want some as well as condiments. Since I wasn't asked I stupidly assumed there was some in there. Nope! Fries weren't salted, potatoes were dry and the "best crab cake on the East Coast " wasn't great. I just wanted to try one..it was $12.95 and it was about 2.5" big. Wtf is that?! You're better off going to Eat n' Park in this neck of the woods than to waste your money as this place! read more

Though we have only ate here once, and it was take out as well. The food was great! Both got the Pittsburgh style stake sandwich's and bacon cheese fries. It was a bit pricey, but it hit the spot. read more

Recommended by the people at a nearby hotel where we were staying, Sonny's was that perfect restaurant at the end of a long day of travel. They had a well-stocked bar, several beer selections and decent wine by the glass. The calamari appetizer was crispy -- large enough for the whole table of 8. (It was a lot wasted on two -- wish the waitress had mentioned that.) The crab cake, which Sonny's is known for, was served on a fresh lettuce salad; it was light, flavorful and a nice touch after a long day of car travel. Sonny's is dimly lit and can be loud, yet it was a good meal and a reasonable price. read more

Sonny's Grille is a great place to eat. The first time we tried this place out it was a small establishment in a town outside of Belle Vernon. Now it's in Belle Vernon and may still reside in Uniontown Mall. We always think this place is good. Best place in Belle Vernon. read more

We needed a beer after a long drive from Ohio. Great service and beer was cold. I shared a huge plate of chicken parmesan with my son and we couldn't finish it. A little pricey for a meal, but worth it in my opinion. Kid friendly and the game was on the big tv. Couldn't ask for more. read more

Greeted by a lovely hostess, Sydney. After that it was downhill. Waitress was not congenial. Like she did not want to serve us. Took our beer orders, brought them w/o glasses. Actually brought one for wife and not ask if I wanted one and I did. She acted as if I didn't exist. Did not get fries but chips. She Eventually brought less than Room temp fries. Nachos were ok. Not much beans and meat. Overall we had below average service and food. read more

The pittsburgh style steak and cheese is good. The service today was really super friendly but slow. I asked for a side of mayo and got a side of ranch. I hate to complain or make corrections so I made the best of it. The kids like their Pittsburgh Kielbasa sandwiches which is a plus. I didn't see a desert menu but that shouldn't suggest they don't have one. After I forgive myself for all I consumed today, I will return to ask. read more

Although the service was friendly , once we got the food it was horrible. I really don't know how an established restaurant can ruin Pasta Alfredo and burgers. The burger meat was tasteless and the pasta was jelled over and had way too much pepper on it. Everyone I know goes there and I just don't get it. For the prices I would expect a better quality and tasty food. Highly disappointed. read more

I had dinner and a couple of beers here with a friend and our total came out to $144.00 with tip for two people. The food was not good, especially for the price. The spinach artichoke dip was... strange. Usually spinach dip has cream cheese in it but this looked like it was maybe some condensed soup with some spinach flakes tossed it. It wouldn't even stay on the chips. I ordered the chili mac for my meal. I expected this to be macaroni and cheese with chili on it, because what else does "Mac" mean other than macaroni? Well. I got some plain old spaghetti with a lob of chili on top. Just straight up boiled spaghetti and a scoop of chili on top for $14. The only decent part of our meals was the garlic bread. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the server was very sweet and attentive and it's not her fault that food sucks so bad. read more
