The food is really good but it's expensive and sometimes they make it hard to honor specials.

The little white building on 4th Street still wears its vintage RC Cola sign like a badge of honor, and the moment you push open the door, that familiar sizzle of burgers hitting the oil hits you like a hug from your childhood. We slid onto the stools at the old horseshoe counter, the same one I remember from when I was a kid, and watched the magic happen right in front of us. Patties kissed with bread for that impossibly soft center, fried in the shallow oil until the edges turned perfectly crisp and golden. My cheeseburger arrived "unsquoze," glistening and glorious, layered with that signature tangy sauce, crisp pickles, and onions that somehow make everything sing. One bite and I was twelve years old again--only this time I got to share it with my own family. The new owners have kept every bit of what made Dovie's legendary. Same perfect burgers. Same simple, soulful menu. Same feeling that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. My kids devoured theirs with the same wide-eyed joy I used to have, and we left with full hearts and fingers still a little greasy in the best possible way. Dovie's isn't just a burger joint. It's a living piece of Tompkinsville history that still tastes like home. If you've never been, go. If you grew up on these burgers, go back. It's every bit as wonderful as you remember.

Hamburger did taste great and very reasonably priced. Simple menu. Very friendly staff.read more

The dining room feels clean and welcoming, the service is friendly and down-to-earth, and portions are hearty enough that the regulars (and visiting challengers) keep returning. Standout strengths are the breakfast offerings and the house-sized portions: the restaurant is locally famous for its oversized "Mike's Big Breakfast" challenge and consistently large, satisfying plates that make it an ideal stop for a hungry traveler or a family meal. There's a lot to like if you enjoy generous pancakes, thick-cut toast, crispy hashbrowns, or smoked chicken and brisket options. Service tends to be warm and personal, and staff are attentive and helpful. However, a few patrons report occasional order misses during busy shifts, so a polite reminder about any special sides can be beneficial. The restaurant also appears active on local social channels and delivery platforms, which makes takeout an easy fallback. In short, choose The Eatin' Table when you want honest, filling Southern comfort food served with small-town hospitality. It's a supportive, friendly spot that shines at breakfast and offers reliable, flavorful plates for lunch or dinner. It's perfect for visitors exploring Monroe County who want hearty portions and a welcoming vibe.

Listen. What a wild place. We were in town on a mini vacation and this place BLEW ME AWAY... for…read moresome reasons you could expect. And others you wouldn't. Let's start with the expected: chicken fried chicken was amazing. The loaded fry appetizer also amazing. Sides were great. Mac and cheese and green beans both well above average to me. The waitresses were all so helpful and sweet. But let's talk about the other amazing part. This place feels right out of a post apocalyptic movie! If you've ever wanted to feel "out of this world" or in a community fenced off from the zombie apocalypse and struggling to make you feel some normalcy in your life... THIS IS THE PLACE. My goodness I loved it. An old couple in the corner was playing some Garth Brooks covers to set the mood. A "straight from the 80s arcade room" in the back had some flashing lights shine through the doorway into the main dining room. Also... this place was packed. The dusty parking lot did not have a single spot for us open and we had to wait on a parking spot. No wait when we got inside luckily. But back to the post apocalyptic vibe... I really can't explain it much better. The 80s arcade... the wood paneling on the walls. The old toy heavy machinery and trains lining the walls. The smell of the food thickening the air. Even the staff... all unique as can be!!! Don't forget the overstock Christmas plates they pulled out for us to use!!! Highly recommend this place for the food... but if you've ever wanted to experience what a restaurant would be like after the zombies take over... Give yourself a treat and come here!!!

Never served my food and served customers that came in well after me. The waitress was on meth and…read morenot freindly or helpful...Avoid this establishment at all costs.

They have a venmo barcode outside, (it is $10 for parking) but I couldn't get it to work, so I went inside. It was packed! But I did manage to pay and get a receipt to put on my dashboard. They told me I could get $5 off my purchase if I showed my receipt. However at the register they said that promotion was over. In the end, they honored it, so I appreciated that. We had the banana pudding and peach cobbler and an ice cream. The ice cream was purchased separately, so we got it immediately. But it took at least 20 minutes for the pudding and cobbler. At one point, I jokingly said to my daughter "are they making it right now"...and they I think they were. The vanilla wafers on the sides and bottom were crunchy, not soggy. It is one of the better banana puddings I've had lately. Definitely recommend it! The cobbler was warm but not what I was looking for. They have a ton of local made products and the bathroom was very clean. Their sign advertised Farm to Table. If we get out that way again I would definitely give their menu a try.
