I come here for a fast snack and ice cream also love the mozzarella sticks and chili cheese tots. My favorite slush is the grape with nerds candy. They have delicious iced tea and freshly sliced lemon so the tea is my favorite drink here.

This is why I waited so long to go back. Second time around I brought the kids. Service was very kind and attentive, but the ice cream had the same problems: everything just tastes like salt. I swear to god it's the saltiest ice cream I've ever had. Also, basically no mixed-in ingredients. The butter pecan has a few tiny pecan specks. The "cortado crunch" is like 99.8% cortado and .2% crunch. The blue (for some reason) cookies and cream might as well be black specks and cream - if you find a recognizable Oreo fragment in there, better go play the lottery next. It's a shame because the parlor is so cute, and you can tell they've put a lot of effort into pretending to be Jeni's, what with "Gail" in loopy script and "fine ice cream" versus "splendid ice creams." And I love the romantic idea of a hometown ice cream shop. But the bland flavor and miserly balance are easily outclassed by each and every basic-ass chain in the city.

No where to park (BEWARE FIRST TIME CUSTOMERS) So we just went through the drive through. We pull up without knowing what to get (I know, my bad). We asked the **thrilled** employee working there what she would recommend. She suggest butterscotch (didn't elaborate further). She didn't have the best personality, but she got the job done. I ordered ice cream in a cup and the friend ordered a pineapple milkshake. The portion of ice cream was unfathomable. It was probably equal to a WHOLE carton of ice cream. So much so that I had to dump out majority of it in the parking lot of some government building (sorry!!). Friend liked the shake, but mentioned that it had hints of lactaid. I was done with the ice cream in under 10 minutes after it dripped everywhere. They do no offer toppings for the plain soft serve whatsoever. So who in their right mind can just eat mounds of straight vanilla?!?! My Diet Coke made up for the ice cream however I had only about two sips of it because of how much ice they put in it. Anyways, maybe it was a case of not ordering the right thing, or not getting fantastic service, or maybe this place is just overrated.

After coming to Baton Rouge for the past 2…read moreyears to visit my fiancé, I decided we had to venture out of BR to find a non-chain ice cream shop. Maddie's fit the bill with its homemade ice cream and family-run ambiance. It's in an unassuming shopping center off the main toad in Brusly, LA (about a 15 min drive from BR, just over the MISSISSIPPI river), but it's an oasis in an otherwise ice cream desert. The space is super cute and inviting with paintings of various ice cream cones on the walls by young artists (they do kids birthday parties) and a chalkboard menu. They also have plenty of seating and a "Eat More Ice Cream" sign that's perfect for the 'gram. The ice cream itself is fantastic and really creamy and rich. I got coffee and cookies and cream and my partner got blueberry cheesecake and s'mores. Very reasonably priced given the generous scoops! They also have brownies, cookies, and their signature creations/sundaes. Worth the drive to this small town to get world class ice cream! We'll be back!

You don't always see that. The tables and chairs are metal. The girl behind the counter is very sweet, but she doesn't know too much about the product that she sells. She knows that the ice cream is from Alabama and that it is not locally sourced. Prices here are more than reasonable, $5 for a 3-scoop sampler. She was very helpful, providing us samples and giving us flavor recommendations. It's a real cute lil spot. Another thing, it was super clean. Yay!!
