Our server, Lily, was a total delight. Although she was BUSY, she spent time chatting, welcoming us, and reviewing the menu. Loved everything, and can't wait to return. This will be added to our repeat list . So,let me tell you about the food. This could possibly be the best shrimp po boy I've ever had, with sweet potato fries. YUM! Also enjoyed the smoked brisket quesadilla with some cold beers, complete with coozies. And, bonus, across the street is the super cool , Seaman's Memorial Tower, dedicated to the local shrimpers and sailors who lost their lives to the sea. Very inspirational, and worth checking out.

From the owner: Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young…read moreentrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, "What a burger!" He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, "Whataburger." Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

As So-Cal resident from the land of the "great almighty" In-N-Out, I can honestly say that this…read moreplace isn't mind blowing, but--to be fair--neither is In-N-Out. That isn't saying that both are not good; they're both good in their own way but to be honest I think that their levels of goodness (maybe not greatness) is about on par with each other. I only visited this area for a weekend and this was one place that I knew I needed to check out. But, I'm a little confused about the lower overall star rating (perhaps the locals aren't too fond of this particular location?). I guess if you're visiting this area (or any part of TX), I would definitely recommend checking Whataburger out. This is probably blasphemous to say but the cheese burger comes very close to what I think of a California cheese burger (would be on point if they maybe added thousand islands dressing?). Also, if you're a fan of shakes (I don't know if this is a temporary promotion thing), you need to try the Dr. Pepper milkshake--it's better than any milkshake I've ever had from Sonic.
