I am deeply disappointed by my experience with Dr. Daniela Botoman and feel it's important to share…read morethis for other families. From the very beginning, her bedside manner was extremely poor. She repeatedly did not listen when my mother tried to explain her symptoms or concerns. During today's visit, my mother was abruptly told to stop speaking, which I found incredibly disrespectful and upsetting. When I expressed serious concerns about my mother falling frequently, the response I received was dismissive--simply saying that my mother "needs to be more careful." No compassion, no curiosity, and no effort to understand what might be causing these falls. What was most disturbing was hearing my mother told, in front of her, that everything happening to her is "because she's old" and that I "need to face it." This was said without empathy, without medical explanation, and without regard for how harmful and demeaning those words can be to an elderly patient. A doctor should make patients feel heard, respected, and cared for--especially vulnerable elderly patients. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Because of this experience, I will not allow my mother to continue seeing this doctor. I hope this review helps other families make informed decisions and encourages this provider to reflect on how words, tone, and basic human compassion matter just as much as medical knowledge.

I've gone to this practice since 2010. All my providers there have been nothing but amazing. I…read morewrote a previous yelp review and gave the practice five stars. However, they have been under new management for a couple of months. All the previous providers have left the practice. I was never notified that my provider left the practice. In fact, photographs of my former provider and others are still on the webpage, so how was I to know they left? I never received a phone call or a letter in the mail. I found out about this recently when my insurance request requested a prior authorization. I went to their new website, and my provider wasn't listed. So I called to ask about this. The first time I called and the phone rang forever with no one picking up the phone. When I was finally able to get through, a young lady answered the phone. I told her about my situation with the prior authorization and she told me that my provider was no longer there. I was told that I had to come in and see a new provider and when I asked why , I was told have a nice day and then hung up on. I wasn't rude; I just had questions, like who my new provider is and why they need me to come in, since I just had an exam two months earlier. And I don't know why, but they called me back 10 minutes later and said they suddenly had an appointment for me the next morning. So I came in to see what was going on. My new provider was very young and I'm not sure how much experience they had. While they were nice, she informed me of the new policies. For example, they began charging for blood draws in the office that had previously been free. It was $35, and now it's down to $15; otherwise, I have to go to another location to have my blood drawn. They put an order for me to have my blood work drawn, even though I just had it drawn 6 to 8 weeks. I asked for a prior authorization which I was told they would do, but after two weeks, I went to my pharmacy and they said they never received one. The front desk used to be helpful, but recently when I went in, everybody was sitting around in a circle talking to each other, pretty much ignoring that I was there. This used to be a very warm, friendly practice that put the patient's needs first. Now, it seems this new management is very business-oriented, looking for ways to make more money at the expense of providing good customer service and focusing on my healthcare needs. I am now leaving this practice, which makes me sad. I feel very sorry for older people who go there. They probably don't know who their provider is anymore and will have to start over with a new provider from the beginning. It's hard to find a good medical practice for your routine healthcare these days, especially in Boca Raton, where everybody is moving towards concierge service. I wouldn't be surprised if this place goes out of business in the next year.

Exceptional Skill, Compassion, and Truly Outstanding Care…read more Dr. Tokayer is, without question, the finest endocrinologist I have seen in over 35 years of endocrine care. I recently underwent an ultrasound-guided thyroid biopsy, which was my third biopsy in 16 years, and the difference in experience was extraordinary. Dr. Tokayer has an exceptionally gentle technique, transforming what is typically an uncomfortable and anxiety-provoking procedure into one that felt calm, precise, and surprisingly comfortable. Beyond her technical expertise, Dr. Tokayer's bedside manner is exemplary. She is warm, compassionate, and deeply attentive. She takes the time to listen, explains everything clearly, and ensures you feel informed and supported throughout the entire process. She is extremely insightful, a superb clinical diagnostician, and clearly practices medicine at the highest level. She is also timely, thoughtful, and genuinely cares for her patients--qualities that are increasingly rare. I began seeing her earlier this year, and she has quickly become my favorite endocrinologist after decades of working with specialists in this field. If you are seeking an endocrinologist who combines exceptional clinical skill with true compassion and patient-centered care, Dr. Tokayer is outstanding in every way. I recommend her without hesitation.

Dr Bruzzo herself told my husband and I back at the end of 2011 that she was no longer accepting…read moreinsurance as of 2012 and was going VIP Concierge only and it was $1500 a year. Her reason for this was she was going from 3000 patients down to 300 patients (this number could have been 4000 down to 400, I honestly am not sure whether it was 3000 to 300 or 4000 to 400 but it was one of those) to be able to give the level of care she wanted to. We have been doing that since 2012 because we liked her, we liked the idea, and we thought it would be wonderful. No more waiting, get in an out of the Doctors office etc. Great concept. I used to have Humana and Dr. Bruzzo did not bill my insurance company at all from 2012-2014 , at which point I had a $10,000 deductible, which she was aware of. In 2015 my husband got a new job and we now have new insurance company with a significantly lower deductible. When I went to see her in March 2015 she charged my credit card for the 1/2 year concierge fee of $750.00 AND billed my insurance company as well, which BCBS paid her. I called and asked the office manager at Dr. Bruzzo's to credit my VISA since she is now accepting insurance, she replied "We do not accept insurance honey, we only billed them to help you make your deductible" the office manager even stated this on a recorded phone call with Visa. Then on a separate recorded phone call that Visa had made on my behalf to Dr. Bruzzo since they would not refund my money, Dr. Bruzzo stated that the money I paid to her is specifically for a VIP Concierge service only, and that they do in fact accept insurance for office visits. If you google definition of "Concierge medicine" it clearly states that it a fee paid to the doctor for services. And the Dr Bruzzo website clearly states they are doing concierge only. Why on earth would anyone want to pay $1500 a year if they are accepting insurance? Mine and my husbands visits have always been over an hour wait. Except for the very first visit in 2012 when she switched to this new "Concierge" plan. But we were waiting over an hour ?? Does not sound very VIP-ish to me. I had to call and dispute through Visa (I only got a partial refund as Dr. Bruzzo stated this was a yearly fee and I owed her for the 1st quarter : during which I did not call or see her during this 1st quarter) After my insurance payed her, and I payed her, she sent my husband a text that I would have to find a new DR quickly because she was canceling my prescriptions for my Thyroid medication and blood pressure medication. So after essentially paying her twice for a single visit, I still had to go to another DR to do another physical so I could get my thyroid and blood pressure meds. Dr. Bruzzo then tried to say that it is common practice if you leave a Dr office that they cancel any prescriptions they wrote out. Well if you are going to cancel the prescription that you just wrote out for a 6 months supply during the office visit that she got paid for twice, she should return the money for the office visit to myself and BCBS. This is blood pressure and thyroid meds. Not oxycotton we are talking about here. By billing the insurance company on top of me paying her for concierge is 100% unethical in my opinion and the reason I left her practice. Even her own website states she converted to "concierge medicine" therefor she should have never billed BCBS. I am glad I no longer have to be called "honey" whenever I have to deal with the office staff.
