Clean rooms, free coffee. We always have a problem with most hotels when it comes to a pet policy, and this place took our three animal with no fee.

I walked around and shouted hello for 5 minutes before desk clerk showed up. I proceeded to my room and tried to take a shower. The water not matter how long I let it run was room temperature at best. I finally gave up and engaged the shower and what came was a trickle. I called the lobby and they tried to move me to THREE different rooms all with the same problems and worse ones. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there wouldn't be one in till Monday. At this point. I was going to leave but there was a severe weather warning with bad thunderstorms everywhere, so I shelter in place. On Monday I emailed the manager for a refund and got no response. I contacted Motel 6 guest services and got the standard response, and was told someone one would contact me in 5 days. No one did. I contacted them for a second time, again a generic response promising a follow up, never happened. I did notice a partial refund on my CC, but not explanation. I contacted customer service for a third time and was told to contact the hotel directly, well I all ready tried that and got no response. Motel 6's customer service it to respond with generic emails and hope you go away.

I hate writing about my fave places, especially the ones off the beaten track. More people find out…read morehow incredible they are & then they become too busy! LOL This is one of my fave places to stay in Louisiana. I grew up in the area & when I want to go home, this is where I want to go kick back. This area is very very special, there is tons of great food, antique stores & historic places you can visit & the coolest place to stay is here. If you are staying for a while, rent the whole cottage. It's beautiful. If your just staying for a few days, stay in the barn. The upstairs is perfect for 2 & it has a Jacuzzi tub. The views of the lake are breathtaking from the front balcony. I LOVE that there is a separate "party barn/cook shack" here that you can cook & hang out outside & take it all in. It's not a shack by any means, it's a very cool set up, a chefs dream outdoor kitchen. Stuff that Louisiana girls LOVE. It's 100 % Louisiana style ;) There are at least 10-12 old oaks draped in moss on the property that are over 200 years old that are registered with the State. Just like a picture perfect dream, flowering shrubs that perfume the air, puppies that greet you on arrival, children playing the the background.. I've dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas: they've gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind - Emily Bronte One of the most beautiful places in the world to me. This place is nothing short of stunning, and truly feels like a little piece of heaven. The decorations were rustic and perfectly matched what you'd expect in a simple country home. We stayed in the barn loft, and I was pleasantly surprised when the AC was more than able to keep up with the summer heat in southern Louisiana. The breakfast was simple but good, and much better than any you'll find in a hotel. The pond was beautiful and peaceful, and there were no noises except the sounds of nature (mostly cicadas chirping). I cannot recommend this place enough, and we will most definitely be coming back for future visits.

The owner recommended this place. They had one suite available for our Sunday to Sunday stay and we took it. This suite has a second bedroom that we didn't need, but our bedroom is spacious, has a window mounted AC and the bathroom has a shower, not a tub. The bed is comfortable. There is no TV in this room, but we didn't miss it. Donnell is a gracious host as is her staff. Breakfasts are delicious and filling. There is adequate free parking. There are no door locks but there are surface bolts and the house is locked at night. There is no foot traffic or street parking and the site is quiet and secure. This is a charming place that we hope we can return to.

This one wasn't in the plantation building but it was still pretty interesting. There was a nice courtyard that was between this room and the plantation house. The Victorian House had a sofa, a canopy bed, a pretty big closet, and a decent shower. The bathroom got cold easily so it had a switch just to heat up the room. Breakfast was strictly at 830am (it kind of sucked it wasn't eat when you want to). It was nice to see the other hotel goers there, however. The attendant who handed us the key to the hotel room also helped serve breakfast for us in the morning. They also had coffee available in to go cups.
