Charming and quaint. We had the large Atchafalaya room on the second floor, which included a sitting area and bedroom. Highly recommend it and staying inside the home. There was live creole band when we arrived. Beautiful touch! Do not miss the homemade breakfast served promptly at 830am. Biscuit, sweet grits, eggs!

Born and raised in Lafayette, I was not aware this place was there. My grandparents lived on Sterling and still I did not know this was there. My sister found this place and suggested it and it was quite comfortable. We were in town for a couple days to take care of family matters. I enjoy the history surrounding the property as well as the history of Lafayette. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great and it was good to meet people from around the world. I would recommend Mouton's Plantation and will plan to stay next time I'm in town with the dogs, because they will love it also.

We were seeking refuge from torrential rain on I-10 and decided to stop in Lafayette for the night. I made a last minute reservation at the Mouton Plantation Bed and Breakfast where John greeted us at the door. We checked into the lovely Voorheis room on the second floor of the main house. We were too late for social hour but were serenaded by the lovey live music we heard from our room. Very talented musician! Since we had to get on the road again this morning before the 8:30am breakfast service, we missed the shrimp and grits. The table was already started and looked lovely. Fortunately we were able to get coffee for the road. This historic home in the center of Lafayette is definitely worth a stop!

We stayed here for 2 nights, and booked Victoria room. When i trying to make the reservation, i couldn't find the square footage of the room, so i called the office to check. But it's Sunday, no one pick up the phone. So i hang up. Surprisingly, few minutes later i received a call back, and base on availability, he recommended Victoria room. I'm happy when the door opened, it's not in the main house, but it's on the ground level with a nice sized room, a lot of space and unique bed frame, the Mattress is very comfortable. We had free breakfast included in the room rate, 1st day was biscuit & gravy, freshly made. It looks delicious, but I'm reluctant to eat as I'm trying to control my carb intake. So the servant kindly cooked me one fried egg and one breakfast sausage patties. I certainly feel i can eat more, but i don't want to both him again. The host John is very nice, on our day of arrival, he took time to play several music instruments for us, and he also had a very nice voice. The 2nd day, he also made us his favorite boudin, it's actually taste better than the restaurants! We had a lovely time staying here.

My husband chose this property based on reviews from Airbnb. Upon arrival, the overall upkeep of the property left a lot to be desired: the landscaping needed attention, the trimwork needed painting, and our assigned room was "shabby chic" - with the attention being more focused on shabby. Our room had a roach/waterbug in the bathroom, and I was awakened by water dripping in my face from a leak in the ceiling. We discovered that it was from the shower in the unit above us. The owner did respond by stating that he would seek to give us a full refund. We will be waiting.

What a delightful place to stay. A gorgeous property & an awesome staff. Our room was the Empire room with a giant bathroom. The bed was very comfortable & the pillows were fabulous. We were served a delicious breakfast. If you want a bit of history & charm, I highly recommend this place.

What we loved the most: traditional music in the living room, 400yo live oaks on the lawn, pain perdu for breakfast.

We were met a few mins after we arrived by Miss Donna she was very friendly and we quickly felt right at home. She showed us around the common areas explained door codes made us feel like we were family. We met Casey and he brought to our attention all the new art work that was acquired for the common rooms, as well as some more history of the house and the fact that soon there will be a small scale model of the house before it was remodeled hand crafted from memory i spired by a 96 year old man that grew up in the house but lives close by. We chose the Fais Do Do suit little private walk way off the courtyard but we look forward to staying in the main house next time. The house was built in 1890 and I have to say I was never hot anywhere in the house or our suit. Louisiana is hot and humid lol The courtyard is beautiful a very nice gentleman was outside hanging lights above the courtyard I can't imagine them not being there they look amazing. Be sure and check for books in the Parlor for info about the B&B history. Our suit had a mini fridge, Keurig, very nice king size towels lots of pillows and lots of plugs, Free WiFi, comfortable bed very spacious rooms, cable tv, beverages and ice are in the guest fridge in the main house. We had breakfast in the sun room at 8:30 delicious eggs, bacon, and biscuits with OJ and Coffee but breakfast changes daily. We will definitely be returning and look forward to staying in each of the rooms. The staff make this place extra special!! And the science museum is right down the road couple miles.

LOL This is one of my fave places to stay in Louisiana. I grew up in the area & when I want to go home, this is where I want to go kick back. This area is very very special, there is tons of great food, antique stores & historic places you can visit & the coolest place to stay is here. If you are staying for a while, rent the whole cottage. It's beautiful. If your just staying for a few days, stay in the barn. The upstairs is perfect for 2 & it has a Jacuzzi tub. The views of the lake are breathtaking from the front balcony. I LOVE that there is a separate "party barn/cook shack" here that you can cook & hang out outside & take it all in. It's not a shack by any means, it's a very cool set up, a chefs dream outdoor kitchen. Stuff that Louisiana girls LOVE. It's 100 % Louisiana style ;) There are at least 10-12 old oaks draped in moss on the property that are over 200 years old that are registered with the State. Just like a picture perfect dream, flowering shrubs that perfume the air, puppies that greet you on arrival, children playing the the background.. This place is nothing short of stunning, and truly feels like a little piece of heaven. The decorations were rustic and perfectly matched what you'd expect in a simple country home. We stayed in the barn loft, and I was pleasantly surprised when the AC was more than able to keep up with the summer heat in southern Louisiana. The breakfast was simple but good, and much better than any you'll find in a hotel. The pond was beautiful and peaceful, and there were no noises except the sounds of nature (mostly cicadas chirping). I cannot recommend this place enough, and we will most definitely be coming back for future visits.

The place is constructed of exclusively wood, exposed brick & old sheet metal. It had an immediate charm about it for sure and overall would be a great place for an event. We parked in the large lot on the same plot as the building. My first reaction to the place was how cool and aesthetically pleasing it is - especially for the little neighborhood it's in:/ They've got a relatively large, healthy lawn in the back with the the little bulb lights that everybody likes. There was also a stage out back but it wasn't being used when I was there. From the parking lot you take a few steps up to the floor level of the wrap around porch. As you actually enter the building you enter into the smaller of the two main chambers. There will be a bar to your immediate right and the larger, stage room to our left. Naturally there was a band playing in the larger, banquet style room. As mentioned it had a stage on the far end and also a bar with plenty of open space for seating/dancing/tom-foolery. On a quick side note, the bar had a quite expansive and modestly priced assortment of your typical offerings. I will say the bartender I had knew nothing about the local beer much less helpful wine and spirit suggestions - he was friendly though :) Another quick side note, the caterer, The Habana Club, was EXCELLENT and offered extremely delicious and authentic Cuban fare. DEFINTELY check them up if you're in the area and into that sort of thing. TL;DR Definitely worth using for a private party or trying to get into the next local event they're hosting. Until next time.. CHEERS !!!
