I broke down and realized I needed help. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Dr. Gonsman. Aside from being very close to my home, he brought me in hours within me calling to schedule an appt. I waited less than 3 minutes in the waiting room to get back to the exam room. His assistant took me back and took my xrays. Everyone was extremely friendly. The Dr came in and was very pleasant. He talked to me through the entire exam and gave me soooo much helpful info. and my cleaning was great too. He showed me on my xrays exactly where and what i needed done. He gave me the option between silver and composite fillings and explained each very clearly, making sure to let me know the composites may cost a little more. I opted for the composites for their color, and To my surprise, the composites were incredibly afforable even with my insurance paying only a little over half. A week later he put in my 5 composites, and although I was extremely anxious being that I've never had fillings, they did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable and had as little pain as possible. He talked to me through the procedure, allowed my husband to be around for my comfort and made sure to let me know to tell him if I had any pain at all during and stopped as soon as I had any and took care of it. He took his time on my teeth and they turned out beautifully. After it was all said and done they made payment arrangements with me and my tight budget to pay off my work(which was a great price, even with me being on unemployment) This was an absolutely wonderful experience for me and for the first time in my life Im EXCITED to go back to the dentist. I will definitely be recommending Dr Gonsman to friends and family. This is how dentistry should be. Comfortable. Inviting. Informative. Thorough.

Though frustrating I've always been accommodating to their cancelations. Never causing a fuss or having attitude with them until this final straw. End of July, I was contacted and told my child's tooth extraction was being canceled for the same reason. Also, that it would be WEEKS before I even got a call back to reschedule! This was an urgent need due to the time frame of her orthodontic care. When I questioned how they decided who got canceled and mentioned that this isn't the first time they've done this to us, I was told " You're more than welcome to find a different dentist." Which felt like a giant slap to the face. Flash forward, I get another call from Keystone Dental. I perked up thinking they're calling about the tooth extraction, nope! I was informed that we could forget about our appointment for teeth cleaning and school forms that was coming up as well because as of August 1st Keystone Dental no longer takes our insurance. As if our experience wasn't already deteriorating quick enough with them, I found another dentist that was willing to see my daughter quickly and they asked that I contact Keystone Dental and have them email my daughter's xrays (newly taken ones on July 2nd) and her information. Which I did and the receptionist stated they would. We arrived at our new dentist only to find out that Keystone Dental sent OLD xrays and no paperwork! First call was on July 25th for a tooth extraction on August 6th. Second call was on August 5th for a teeth cleaning/school form signing on August 18th. You really think they didn't know in July that they were dropping our insurance? Our insurance website still states that Keystone Dental takes our insurance for existing patients. I genuinely think they still take our insurance but this was their was of punishing me for daring to question their frequent cancelations. I'm deeply disappointed by their conduct and will continue to take my business elsewhere regardless of insurance provider.

Stay away from Aspen Dental...period. I visited the Altoona office this past week. I will say they were very thorough with xrays, but that's the only positive you'll get out of me. What I can't wrap my head around is how a cleaning was going to cost me 3600 dollars. That's with me having really good dental insurance. All due to my gum disease requiring an antibiotic. When I said "well then let's just skip the antibiotic that isn't covered by my insurance and get a regular cleaning", I was turned away and told that it was part of the procedure. Absolute horse manure. I'd like to know what antibiotic costs 112 dollars, and that's per tooth. This is predatory. Let's make sure we add as much as we can to this client's bill, and make sure it's not covered by insurance. This business model shouldn't thrive, but when most of your income is from feeding off insecurity and vanity, for some reason it does. Now I'm also in the same boat as a previous yelper where I have to wait another 6 months just to get my teeth cleaned. Aspen did absolutely nothing for me but somehow that counts as a cleaning. I mean, they did give me a tiny cup of mouthwash while I was there. I'm beyond livid.

Now I am finally throwing in the towel after yet ANOTHER incident with them yesterday. They only have one dentist Dr. Lee who works late afternoon so I don't have to pull my kiddo from school. Which BTW unlike they suggest I should have to do....rather than suggesting I have to pull my kid, here's an idea... GET A DOCTOR THAT IS ABLE TO SEE PATIENTS ON TIME!!! I have dealt with this issue before and sat waiting for the doctor while I listened to him talk with a patient about everything in life other than her dental care including a political conversation that I found inappropriate and offensive .... All while other patients sat and waited and waited and waited past their appointment times. Well more if the same yesterday!!!! Son scheduled for 3:45. Called the office and was told not to bother to bring him until 4:30.... Brought him at 4:30 and told the nurse that he was here for his filling but I couldn't stay because I have a second job that I COULDN'T BE LATE FOR...Which is why I scheduled a 3:45 appointment!!!! I told the nurse my son was good to go and hos dad would be there by 5 to pick him up. His dad gets there and waits in the car for a few minutes and then goes in wondering where our 14 year old is??? They have not yet seen him because they DIDN'T HAVE PARENTAL CONSENT !!!! Are you so serious?!?! First I walked in with him and GAVE CONSENT and he is 14.... Which is the legal age of consent for medical treatment!!! This after poor care on 2 root canals, being unable to schedule appointments until months out because they have too many patients and waiting for an hour past my apppntment so that their doctor can have offensive conversation with patients thae has nothing to do with DENTAL WORK!!! I am DONE!!!

My 4 kids all went there there also, the only times we didn't was when it was a result of an insurance issue. I had to get a crown this past Fall, first one, I had no idea how awful it actually was to get one but turns out that was nothing compared to the aftermath. I was eating this past Easter Sunday evening and my crown fell off. I called them as soon as they opened the next morning and was told they didn't have time to see me, they would have to schedule me for the next day. I was so upset and devastate, I didn't appreciate it lasting less than a year not to mention the tooth nubby I had showing now that was embarrassing. I paid $500 plus whatever my insurance paid out for this crap job and now they want me to have to call off another day of work. I was upset to say the least. They did end up calling me back and squeezed me in. To reapply my crown that I still had took them a whole 10 minutes!! That was early April. Then this month, July,I was eating and again the crown came off. I immediately called them as it was a Friday morning and I am going on vacation, I was really upset. I frantically called them, not even mentioning vacation before she went to talk to the dentist and was told they could get me in as an emergency on Monday. Really? Monday! I told her I would be on vacation, I was put on hold and when she came back was told they could see me after my vacation. I was SO mad and SO sad because now all I am thinking about is this awful tooth nubby you can see when I smile and talk, I have more than enough stress on my life, don't need this for something that was their mistake for apparently not properly doing my crown In the first place!! It takes 10 minutes and I was prepared to leave work at whatever time they had available. Now I am really mad and see that they truly do not care about their patients!!! They have lost their compassion for their patients, they are too busy with not enough dentists which is obvious when they don't have 10 minutes for their mistake and my self esteem and are willing to let me go on vacation like this. I used to recommend them to others and now myself and my grown children will be going elsewhere. Shame on them for losing their compassion along the way! I would NEVER recommend them for ANY dental procedure and I truly regret the day I took their advice and got this crown. Shame on them!!

Dr. Betar is a very talented dentist who appears well-versed in his field. Overall very competent. His staff is well trained and executes their duties professionally. Unfortunately, my wife's experience in this office differed significantly from mine. Her overall experience with the staff was not as good as mine. She did not appreciate Dr. Betar's unwillingness to discuss treatment options. This all led to them dismissing her as a patient. The dismissal was because she did not accept his treatment plan. This was very frustrating because he never took the time to discuss treatment plans or offer options. He failed to explain what and why. Because they dismissed my wife, they also dismissed me. They told me their policy states that if one family member is dismissed, the whole family gets let go. I found this to be very disappointing. I had never given them a hard time about anything and accepted Betar's treatment plans without any pushback. Finding a competent dentist and becoming established with them takes time and money. Being dismissed by Betar's office was very frustrating. They were unwilling to discuss the situation with me to come to a resolution that did not involve me being dismissed along with my wife.
