My husband had to go for work and the family joined him. Both times, we stayed here…read more
It's tucked behind a lot of parking so there is plenty of spaces. Heard pre-COVID times, the area was bustling with many corporate companies who hosted their holiday parties here and had employees who reported to the office full time. Now? A number moved out so it's a sleepy little area.
The set up has a nice lobby that opens up into a very open courtyard full of tropical houseplants but times a thousand - because you know fiddle leaf fig plants can grow that high but now you can see them going at it. I have spotted staff hand watering everything - that's dedication! I thought they had an irrigation system. The lobby also hosts a breakfast buffet; you need to show your ticket on the weekends but not the weekdays.
The breakfast buffet is a pretty decent spread! They have your usual continental breakfast items like scrambled eggs [from a carton], potatoes, meats, French toast, bread (toast, muffins, English muffins, bagels), cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, DIY waffles, and an omelette/pancake station. They also have drink dispensers for juice, milk, soda (??), and coffee. We're vegetarians and the omelette station is key! One of my kids has multiple food allergies and I'm sad to say they're not terribly helpful on that front. In fact, they're not great with any questions about ingredients (we also don't eat alliums). That is to say that "no, I don't know what kind of cereal it is" was the response I got. They store cereal in dispensers with no names. My kid can have the PLAIN cheerios but NOT the Honey Nut version. In fact, he's pretty much allergic to everything they have there except for yogurt (but only the bulk yogurt and not the individual cups) and juice so I started bringing down food for him.
Note: many hotels offer coffee throughout the day. This place does not. Everything is closed down once breakfast is over... including the coffee "bar".
Both visits, we got rooms on the 3rd floor... and they were ironically adjacent. The rooms themselves seem clean but after watching staff walk into the rooms with shoes to clean up or check on things... it's not clean. Each suite has a common area, a mini kitchen with fridge, microwave, and sink, and that's separated by a door from the bedroom and the adjoining bathroom. Water pressure both times is mediocre. It takes me longer to wash my hair. They do provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that is secured to the wall... I'm not sure they they do a very thorough job cleaning because on my second visit, the body wash was completely out from the first day.
The pool! They have one and it's indoors, but not the biggest. It includes a hot tub and they provide towels there. It does not have a life guard on duty but that's normal for hotel pools. It can get very crowded on the weekends so we visited in the middle of the day on a weekday.
Overall, I do like this hotel. The breakfast is a good start to the day. I love the courtyard and the plants. I saw trucks pulling people on sleds in the empty parking lots after it snowed my first visit. The rooms themselves are pretty nice! Internet speed is decent.
