I checked-in after midnight and was happy to see the Courtyard by Marriott after a long busy day.  The hotel is within a business park and suburban community.  You can find office parks and all the fixings of a suburban community within five minutes of the hotel.  I was lucky to be helped by a kind agent who got me the best available room even when capacity was scarce.  The rooms are nice and modern.  The beds are much more comfortable than some of the other Courtyards I have visited. I absolutely loved the large TV because it is smart and I could watch HULU and Netflix. There are even tubs to soak in after a long day.  My room was spacious and clean. There is ample free parking and a gym on-site.  Overall, I am very pleased with this location and will stay here again when in the area.

This is a newly renovated Courtyard location, so most of the photos shown on Yelp don't reflect what the hotel currently looks like. The rooms are light and airy with the awesome mural wallpaper behind the bed (which I wish I could buy to put in my bedroom at home!). New furniture looked nice - and I absolutely love how they put the TV on a board with a light behind it. Very sharp looking. The only thing that didn't seem to get renovated was the bathroom - which wasn't bad, but you could tell wasn't new. The only thing that stopped me from giving this a 5 start review was the fact that there was a fire alarm that went off at 2AM that required evacuation of the entire hotel. While i guess it was caused by a guest messing with their smoke detector - which is beyond the hotels' control, i was disappointment with how they handled the emergency - While hundreds of guests were waiting in the parking lot for an update, the hotel staff was nowhere to be found. I would have expect the manager or an employee to make rounds and at least let guests know when it's safe to re-enter. I did contact the hotel about this and was offered a sincere apology by the manager.

First time at this location. A little pricey for a Courtyard, but most hotels in this location are not cheap. Easy access to 287 which means getting anywhere is easy. Booked a king room which was clean and hit the mark. Got there earlier than the 4pm checkin and they have me the room early. Unique for this location is the Ruby Tuesday essentially attached to the hotel - you don't need to walk outside. The restaurant also delivers to your hotel room which is a nice touch. All in all, a good stay.

We came to see Jewel in concert at the New Brunswick State Theatre (next to Rutgers University) last Friday. Driving an hour from our location to get to New Jersey after work definitely prompted the need for a place to crash after the concert. And last summer we had stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott in Westchester, NY, so we knew what to expect in terms of hotel amenities. I am glad to report that this is a very consistent and reliable hotel chain. The contemporary decor of the lobby is really inviting, with the cafe and small market and free computer use all clearly and easily accessible upon entry. The seating area is also spacious and though this is not a 4-star hotel, you do get a real sense of comfort and ease as if you were staying at a higher grade hotel. Our room was very clean, and we even had a balcony on the 4th floor. I was surprised there was a microwave as well, which proved to be a real convenience as we had to heat up some sandwiches that we brought with us that night. The only small complaint was the noise from the fridge made it impossible to sleep, so the easy solution was to pull out the power cord, which proved effective. The noise on our floor from other guests was slightly annoying but it didn't disrupt our sleep and wasn't too overwhelming (just some audible pitter-patter). Overall, if you want a clean and contemporary hotel without paying a premium, Couryard by Marriott is a really attractive option. Our 1-night stay was under $100 which was better than some of the other places we looked into before booking here.

We stayed here for a night during a business trip, and everything about the stay was great. The hotel is located about a half mile down the road from the highway, so it's in a prime location. There is plenty of parking for the hotel, as well as the Ruby Tuesday's that is attached to the hotel. The lobby area was really modern, with leather furniture and interesting designs. Also, the staff at the front desk was very, very nice. In regards to the room, it was the standard size, with a king size bed, toilet and shower in a separate room, and the sink on the outside next to the closet. I have zero complaints about the room-- it was clean, the linens and towels were all free of hair, and no bugs were detected-- that always calls for a hallelujah! The only call out as a semi-negative was the smell of the room: it smelled musty, but I was able to live with it. I did take a gander downstairs to the "gym" to get a quick workout session in, but my goals were quickly deflated when I saw that all they had was a weight set, flat bench, some treadmills and an elliptical. Waa was waa. The gym may be small, but I was still able to get a basic work out in-- and it's really clean as well! You also have a view of the swimming pool, which I did dip my hand into and it felt like it was heated, aka winning! Also, one absolutely epic thing about this hotel is their breakfast! Wow! It was SO delicious!! They don't offer a continental breakfast, but you can order it from the little coffee shop downstairs. I ordered a Texas toaster with avocado and tomato relish with eggs. It was absolutely heavenly. One of the best breakfasts I have EVER had at a hotel. Overall, I had such a great experience here. The entire process for check-in and check-out was seamless, and if I ever come back to New Jersey, I will certainly look at staying here again!

The morning scramble available downstairs at the Courtyard Marriot in Somerset, NJ was amazing! $10.20 and completely worth it.

The two young women at the front desk who checked me in were patient, cheerful, and far more professional than the setting deserved. Every bartender, housekeeper, and maintenance worker I encountered seemed to care. They smiled, they helped, they tried. But the hotel itself feels like a tired old animal that wants to lie down and not get up again. The carpets are worn to the color of defeat, the furniture bears scars that tell too many stories, and the bathrooms are so dated that one half expects to find a rotary phone beside the toilet. Mold creeps in at the edges, as mold always does when no one can quite afford to keep it out. Half the television channels work, depending on the phase of the moon, and which half are the functioning half varies by the minute. The meeting rooms, which must have once been proud places of corporate ambition, now feel like basements dressed up for a sad party. The chairs wobble. The microphones hum. The food, both in the restaurant and in the conference meals, tastes as though it has been waiting in a freezer since the first Clinton administration. The same tired buffet appears every year, as predictable as gravity, and the boxed lunches inspire no one. One of my colleagues got trapped in an elevator. It took the engineering team to pry her and a handful of Junior League hockey players out, and the emergency call speaker crackled like a ghost from a dying transistor radio. What makes this review hard to write is that none of this is the fault of the people who work there. They are doing their best in a place that has been abandoned by the gods investment. If the ownership put half the care into the property that the employees put into their jobs, this could be a wonderful hotel. As it stands, it is my least favorite conference center by a wide margin, and that is saying something. Still, I hope the staff know they are appreciated. They deserve a better stage than this one.

On the morning of November 9th, my 8-year-old son found a used condom between the bed and the air conditioning unit in our suite. I immediately contacted the front desk. Unfortunately, the representative I spoke with was unprofessional and left a negative impression, exhibiting rude and biased behavior. When I requested to be transferred to housekeeping, she responded curtly that I needed to explain the issue first before she could connect me. As someone with a background in housekeeping and supervisory roles, I found this response unprofessional and unusual. I then hung up to gather my belongings and approached the front desk in person, where I discovered that the housekeeping director was standing nearby. I explained what had occurred, but I received no apology or acknowledgment of responsibility. Instead, I was told that an investigation would be conducted and that I would receive a callback; my phone number was repeated back to me for confirmation. As of today, November 17th, I have not received any communication from your team regarding this matter. This experience has left a negative impression on me, and I am disappointed with the level of service provided. I intend to share my experience publicly and hope to see improvements to ensure such incidents do not happen to other guests in the future.

It did not collapse, which felt like an appropriate baseline. The lobby tries very hard. High ceilings, a sense of occasion, the faint suggestion that important people once gathered here to discuss important things. Then you reach the room and the illusion loosens its tie. I had a corner king. It was enormous. Vast, even. You could host a small philosophy class in there, Socratic circle and all. Unfortunately, the room looked like it had already hosted several and lost all of the debates that happened there. The furniture was worn, the decor dated, and everything felt just a little too tired to argue back. In the elevator, an older gentleman joined me. He looked around, nodded once, and said, "this place sure isn't what it used to be." Then he got off. I believed him immediately. The hotel exists in a very convenient location, which is clearly its greatest strength. You can walk to restaurants, to the university, to the train station, to wherever it is you need to be. But convenience is not the same as comfort. Service feels inconsistent. Sometimes friendly, sometimes distracted, as if everyone is working from slightly different instructions. The amenities are a gamble. Some are limited, some unavailable, some simply not what you expected when you booked. There are also fees that appear with a quiet confidence, including valet parking that loudly reminds you your car now belongs to a system larger than yourself. Nothing here is terrible in isolation. That is the trick. It is all just a bit off. Slightly worn. Slightly overpriced for what you get. And so you leave with the feeling that you visited a memory rather than a hotel. A place that still stands, still functions, but no longer quite believes in itself.

By the time an employee emerged from the back room, four parties had formed a small, weary congregation around the front desk. Not the warmest beginning. To her credit, the woman who checked me in was genuinely pleasant. She acknowledged my Platinum status and upgraded us to a suite without my asking, which ended up as less of a luxury and more like being handed the least bruised apple in the barrel. Still, kindness counts. The suite itself was another matter. Nothing horrifying. No crime scene outlines or raccoons operating the ice machine. Just a general sense of neglect. Dingy carpets, worn furniture, the sort of room that makes you wonder how many rolling suitcases and defeated business travelers have passed through before you.
