This was a surprise find on our recent trip to Australia/my homecoming. The unconventional location makes it somewhat tricky to find the entry because it's in a nonresidential, secluded semi-industrial neighbourhood with a small parking lot. There is a small picnic area with a bench and table though, and it was very quiet on this winter day in July.
Firstly, the falls are not wheelchair accessible, and we had to navigate quite a few steps to see all three falls. The highlight for me, not surprisingly, was the last falls at the bottom, where we spent a good 20 minutes enjoying the peace and quiet and the chilly air. I especially liked the mossy boulders and the ancient-looking trees growing into (or out of) the multiple layers of rocks.
They don't quite measure up to the scale and mystique of the falls of the Blue Mountains, but I'm so glad to see these natural resources preserved and accessible. We might be back! read more
