I came in for a teeth cleaning and saw Marie the best dental hygienist I have ever seen) whom I see twice a year. She is knowledgeable, extremely pleasant, professional--- just the very best. Because she recommended changes to the daily care of my teeth some time ago, which I implemented, I only see Dr. Farranti for a minute because my teeth are in good shape. The staff at Somers Smiles is lovely, kind and skilled! I made an appointment with Dr. Ferranti on a whim because her practice takes my insurance and I had a bad experience with another dentist over in Lincolndale. Hesitant to try a new doctor, I was completely blown away by the level of care I received from Dr. Ferranti and her team! I left the 1.5 hour consult and cleaning with happy with sparkly clean teeth. Administration is HORRIBLE!!! They did not tell me that only one dentist in the practice was covered by my insurance and of course scheduled me with the one who wasn't in my plan. I was sent a huge bill since it completely wiped out mine and my whole families insurance plan. I set up a payment plan and they stopped sending me bills and called me numerous times threatening late fees on bills that were NEVER SENT. It is now 2 years later since my visit and I am still paying this off. I received a phone call today stating that i haven't paid this month but again there was no bill sent to me. They sent me a bill and it was the WRONG BILL. It had a patients name and credit card info that was not mine. When I called to make them aware they didn't seem to care and just said "are you able to just get rid of it." Be VERY careful giving them your info because it will clearly be sent to other patients (also not password protected or any type of security protection). If you are the patient who's info got sent to me, don't worry i got rid of it and i hope others are as lucky as him to have it sent to someone who will do the same. read more

You only get one chance to make a first impression. On Monday I went on their website, saw they offered a $99 new patient exam, cleaning and xrays and filled out the online form for a call back. Website said they would "do their best" to reply within one business day. Well, today is Thursday and I haven't heard back. So why would I want to go to a doctor who can't get it together to call a new patient for a intro cleaning. Doesn't inspire confidence that if I was in pain and needed to see a dentist asap this practice would be there for me. If the business is reading this review - don't bother to call me now. read more

I'm 62 years old and I've been afraid of going the the dentist my entire life. A friend suggested I try Dr. Ferranti at Somers Smiles. What a pleasant surprise. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a friendly hello. Judy then gave me a tour of the office. Don't get fooled by the small store front, it was very spacious inside. I met my hygienist, Jackie, and before we got started we spent 15 minutes talking. She asked me about my family, my likes and dislikes and if I had any questions about my visit. She realized I was nervous and explained the procedure so there would be no surprises. After the cleaning, Dr Ferranti reviewed my chart and this is when I thought the pain would begin. Not so, she was kind, patient and explained all my options. I never felt rushed and was able to ask as many questions as I needed. I came to see Dr. Ferranti at the recommendation of my dad, who had nothing but excellent things to say about his experience at Somers Smiles. I was very pleased with my visit here - I was moving the following week and so my insurance for my old job was going to run out in 48 hours. Dr. Ferranti's office was super understanding. They were able to accommodate me win an end-of-day appointment in my needed time frame. Dr. Ferranti is kind and professional, and is, more importantly, genuine. She cares about you and the work that she's doing. Her staff are equally incredible. There's a lot to be said about Judy, who works at the front desk. First of all, ignore the old 1-star review as it does not pertain to the new business owner. More importantly - If you're looking for a modern dentist then you can't do better than Dr. Ferranti. She's the perfect combination of an absolute professional and one of the nicest, friendliest most caring and personable people you'll ever come across. You will be entirely comfortable in her entirely competent hands and totally satisfied with all of the services that she and her fine team provide. Dr. Ferranti has assembled a fantastic staff, from Judy at the front desk (who will happily process your insurance claims for you) to Megan by her side to Jackie doing your cleanings - they're all just so terrific that you'll surely be as impressed and pleased with them as my wife and I have been (through multiple cleanings, fillings and crowns). I am 39 years old and have had multiple dental traumas in my life! I am extremely anxious about the dentist, and try to avoid scheduling appointments until something hurts! I have tried so many highly recommended dentists and never go back after the first visit. Knowing you need significant dental work but being too anxious to schedule an appointment is not a good feeling, and can become very stressful!! DECLINE IN CARE I was happy with John Hong until he prepped for the placement of two crowns. He stated the two teeth were very weak and could FRACTURE at any time and I needed to do this ASAP. The teeth were fine, no pain but I didn' want to "lose" the teeth. He gave me a hefty dose of novacaine a he started. A little way into drilling I was feeling pain. I tried to ignore but it kept getting worse and to the point where I had to say something. Hong gave me more novacaine and assured me I was fine. Nope still Horrible pain! At the end when I asked he said the pain would go away within an hour. The pain lasted almost two weeks! I found out when I myself removed the temporary crown after a few days that the GUMS underneath were bloody, raw and foul smelling. With other dentists, I have had root canals, crowns and impacted wisdom teeth removed and have NEVER experienced this level of pain. John Hong, presented with the complaint a week later denied that there was anything wrong with my gums and looked at me like I was crazy, I was doubting myself until I took pictures of the mutilated gums. Caution: do not use this provider for any procedure more complicated than a filling! read more
