I never write reviews. I don't have facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. But today I am breaking…read moretradition... I am new to the area and my dental insurance limits me to a handful of local options. After reading through some online patient reviews, I found a dentist who practices out of Yorktown Dentistry. Upon arrival though, I was told I'd be seeing a different dentist instead (surprise!). The receptionist said he was out of the office....but that was not true - I later discovered he no longer accepts new patients with my insurance. I haven't been to a dentist in 3 years - I went into the appointment wanting to get a basic cleaning and I had something wrong with a filling that I wanted them to see. The weird thing was - they wouldn't x-ray my entire mouth (even though I asked) - they only wanted to x-ray the spot with the filling. I'm a new patient - like wtf? Wouldn't you want to survey my entire mouth? From the 1 singular x-ray, they found 2 cavities in teeth that sit right next to each other. But they would only fix 1 of them. The dentist gave me a choice - get 1 cavity fixed or get my teeth cleaned. They claimed there was a lack of time and I couldn't get everything done at once (the office was totally empty when I arrived / left). I opted to get the cavity fixed and asked if I could have a UV-cured filling instead of a silver one. The dentist told me UV costs more. I asked how much more and she said she didn't know. I asked if it were hundreds more or thousands more and she again claimed she didn't know. She eventually came to her senses and told me it wouldn't be thousands more. It was just a weird interaction. Through the course of conversation, I found out my damaged tooth has 2 fillings that are stacked on top of each other. The upper filling cracked and shifted. Her plan was to replace the upper filling until I asked her to replace both since the lower filling was done when I was a kid 30 years ago. She agreed that was the right way to do it........so why was that not the plan from the beginning???? The tooth was soft/rotting under the fillings....did she use a medicated filling - I have no idea. Was she personable - NO. Was she very rough - YES. Actually, I've had about 10 fillings done in my life and this was - without question - the most painful one I've ever sat through. She knew I was in pain and wouldn't do anything about it. My mouth was still sore the following day. I felt rushed - she wouldn't let me close my mouth to rest it during the procedure. She must have drilled this tooth for 15+ minutes, plus all the other work that needed to be done - the whole process took 45 minutes. I was pretty pissed by the end and my jaw ached from being open for so long. Its now been 4 days since my appointment - my tooth is very sensitive to temperature now. Maybe that's normal? Or maybe I should have left the office when I saw they were in a rush. The office decor is dated and kind of dingy. I don't really pay close attention to that stuff but it totally makes sense now in the context of the service I received. The one bright spot was the hygienist - she was wonderful. I feel bad she has to work with this dentist. I hope my dentist reads this review. I'm going to find a new one...if you decide to go here - good luck!

Don't judge this book by its old Yelp Review!!…read more So before I walked into Yorktown Dental Group, I did what any responsible adult with internet access does--I read the reviews. And let me tell you, some of them made it sound like I was about to enter the dental version of a medieval dungeon. Chains, dragons, and angry villagers may or may not have been implied. But plot twist: I went in anyway... and guess what? No dragons. No dungeons. Just a super professional, kind, and welcoming team who actually treats everyone--and I mean everyone--with the same level of respect and care, no matter your background, race, or how long it's been since your last flossing confession. There's no racism here--period. You walk through that door, you're a patient, not a stereotype. Let's also give a special shout-out to Donna at the front desk. She might come off a bit quick and to-the-point, but she's basically the dental office version of a well-organized fairy godmother. Always smiling, always checking in on how you're doing, and always wishing you a great day on your way out. If she ran for mayor of Yorktown Dental, I'd vote twice. Also worth noting: all those reviews complaining about past dentists? Pretty irrelevant now. Most of those folks don't even work here anymore, and the current team is doing a great job of turning the ship around--and making teeth shine along the way. So if you're nervous because of what you've read online, take it from me: leave the pitchfork at home, bring your teeth, and let these folks do their thing. You'll walk out with a smile and probably a new appreciation for front desk superheroes like Donna.

I absolutely hate going to the dentist. I actually have anxiety attacks sitting in the dental…read morechair. Unfortunately I needed some dental work done and had no choice but to go. Brightway Dental was the BEST decision I have made in a long time. Amanda the front desk manager is great. She works with your schedule, actually returns calls and squeezes you in same day in an emergency. As for Dr. Ian my new dentist, he was amazing!! He is kind, gentle and quick. I have already been there 3 times in less than a month for much needed work. I'm now pain free and my smile looks more and more beautiful each visit! I DEFINITELY recommend Brightway Dental. Your smile will thank you for it.

The last time I went My bill was for $150.00 which I paid in full. A couple of months later I got a statement from my insurance that $35.00 was sent to Briteway. I called and Amanda told me they would reimburse me. i guess the head dentist did not agree and Amanda called and said they were not returning my money. I did not even know they were filing claims on my behalf and then keeping the money. Be careful because if they know your insurance company this is what they do. Unethical! For quite some time I did not feel confident with the dentists in this group. I am kind of glad this happened because I changed dentists and am happy to be away from them.
