ATTN: Construction WITHOUT Quality - RUN the Other Way Do…read morenot hire Williams and Sons -- especially Marc Williams, Marc Jr., Marcel, David Williams or Cindi. This was hands-down the worst experience we've ever had with a contractor. They clearly had no idea what they were doing. They didn't know how to pour a footer, left out rebar, skipped grout in the block cavities, and even cut bricks just to hide rebar they placed in the wrong spot -- which meant the bricks didn't fit properly. The result? A crooked, unstable mess with grout smeared all over the face of the wall like a bad joke. They dragged the job out forever, ignored concerns, and ghosted us when it was clear they messed up. We had to go to the Registrar of Contractors, and even after that, they refused to fix major problems. We gave them a final shot out of good faith -- and it was more corner-cutting, lies, and negligence and abandonment- the lies they even told the judge were unbelievable from people who claim to be professional- but they didn't get away with it- they have multiple complaints against them now, I wouldn't be surprised if they loose their license- make sure to check first! This crew is dangerous, unskilled, and dishonest. Avoid them at all costs. Protect yourself: check contractor licenses, look up complaints, and contact the ROC if you're already stuck dealing with them -- they were the only ones who helped.

The job was finished on schedule. A sky light was broken due to its weathered conditon and one of the workers went out to by a new one. They did not charge me for it. My cement tile roof was damaged (broken and missing tiles) during a recent monsoon storm with…read morestrong wind and hail. I also have a small balcony that was nearly due for a fresh application of elastomeric roof coating. I created a project on Yelp that included the tile roof repair and balcony coating. GR roofing was quick to reply and sent George out the next day to review the damage and provide an estimate. He arrived as stated and used a drone to survey the damage on my two-story home. I sent him with one of the tiles that had fallen off the roof to find a match. I received an estimate via email within 48 hours. I received a total of 4 estimates from various local roofing companies and decided to go with GR Roofing. I accepted the proposal online and followed up with a call to inquire about scheduling. I was told by the female that answered the phone that George or Guillermo would call me shortly to get me on the production schedule. No call. I called the next day, with no answer/no callback. Day 2 George called me back and gave me a start date and an arrival time of between 6-7 AM. I was ready to go bright and early but no one showed. By 9 AM I called and was told that the schedule changed and someone would come later that day or maybe the next day. Two crew members arrived a couple hours later and power-washed my balcony. They were there all of 5 minutes and I barely caught them before they pulled out of my driveway. I asked them whether they would be back later that day to start the roof tile replacement/repair or to apply the first elastomeric coat once the balcony had dried. They said they didn't know anything about either and were just told to power spray the balcony. I decided to text George to see what was going on. He called and said he would figure out when to send the guys back and get back to me. No response, so I followed up via text that evening. He said he couldn't find the roof tile but would send the guys out the next day to apply the balcony coating. A single crew member arrived 2+ hours after the scheduled time. I had a plastic wicker sofa on the balcony which George said they would place in the backyard before coating the balcony. When only one guy arrived, I asked him if he needed help moving the sofa, he said yes and I proceeded to hand him the sofa over the balcony once he was on the ground. He told me to let go, he had it, and when I did, he infact did not have it and the sofa punctured my stucco and made a golf ball-sized dent. He said "whoa, sorry, I thought I had it." The coating was not applied evenly and there were drips and other areas where coverage was minimal. I texted photos to George and asked when they would be back to apply a second coat. He said they only planned on doing one coat. It rained 2 hours later and the next day, the coating had dried to a color much darker than the original color that totally clashed with the house. I sent photos again to George and he said he didn't know why it came out that color but he would send someone to recoat. He scheduled a date a couple days later and his guy was a no show. I texted and asked if the schedule had changed. No response. I followed up again the next day. No response. I waited a couple more days before contacting one of the other roofing companies to come complete and fix the work started by GR Roofing. I sent George a message informing him of my decision due to his continued lack of communication and the unreliability of his crew. No response. I never heard back from George. The moral of the story: If you want professional customer service, timely and quality work, skip GR Roofing.

Then the monsoon arrived.....and around areas that had leaked before (skylights), water began dripping inside the house.....yes, it was a big storm, but we had just had this service with Wilson & Dale completed a month before so this did not make us very happy. We put in a call, and Ed's team replied quickly and were able to seal it up. We were grateful. It was a Sunday. We inspected the roof after monsoon, and it seemed like the coats applied were quite light. I think the work was done in a timely way but not the best.

It had ponding, leaks and a layer of decomposing pressboard (built before plywood was invented) and more. We had several estimates and Wilson&Dale's was by far the lowest, and even though many things came up that ended up requiring several days more labor, they barely charged us any more. Because they did a foam roof, they were also able to get rid of the ponding and redirect the runoff. The boss, Ed, was super knowledgeable and knew just what to do. In the several months since they completed it, we have had to call them twice for little things and they came out right away and took care of the issue, and our summer electric bills (in Tucson) are just over half of what they were last year. Pretty good right? As great as all that is, the best part is that these people are great human beings. They are honest and really care about what they are doing and the people they are helping. I have had my share of problems with contractors, and I was sort of expecting them to short change me or not respond afterward if I needed them. Not these guys. They really stand by their product. You would be nuts if you didn't give these guys a call.
