I love Byrne Dairy generally, but this location is an anomaly. The biggest concern seems related to…read moremanagement - I've never seen adequate staffing, no matter what time of day or night I go in. The line routinely stretches halfway through the store, and they seem incapable of running two registers at once (again, I think that falls on management and inadequate staffing). Compounding the issue, their POS system seems to run on software from the 90s - it takes forever for the card to read (if it does), which of course lengthens the line. Food-wise, they have similar selections to other Byrne Dairy's, but you have to carefully check expiration dates - twice I've bought stuff only to find out at home that it was expired (and yes, second time is on me - forgot to check). Their hot food is aggravating - they have very few items, quickly run out, and quality is wildly inconsistent. Coffee, donuts, etc. all quickly run out and are not replenished, either. Compounding all this, exiting/entering the front lot can be quite a challenge as Milton and Onondaga are both busy roads, but that's not their fault - just a deterrent. Do yourself a favor and pick a other of their many locations. I feel bad for the staff - none of this is really their fault, there's just not enough of them.

Amazing service, amazing ice cream!…read more The service here was great. And everyone here was wearing a mask. I'd definitely come back here again!

WOW! HUGE, FRESH SANDWICHES AT A GREAT PRICE!…read more We stopped by this Byrne Dairy after a concert at St. Joseph's Lakeview Amphitheater (Counting Crows!). This Byrne Dairy is just down the hill from the concert venue at a fairgrounds entrance. It was busy with the post-concert crowd, and short-staffed, but nonetheless the late-night workers kept the line moving well. We don't have Byrne Dairy at home, and stopped in with getting some grab-and-go gas station typical eats in mind. But we were pleasantly surprised to see deli ordering options. We ordered a couple of large sandwiches. They ended up not being large sandwiches--but rather HUGE SANDWICHES! The large is essentially two standard size sandwiches PACKED with tons of fresh fillings! And they were not only abundant in size, but also abundantly fresh and delicious! My husband had a roast beef and pastrami sandwich. The meat was sliced thin and PILED HIGH! I had egg salad, which was also generously scooped. Our sandwich artist was FANTASTIC--she took the time to construct the sandwich with our custom topping picks in an entirely purposeful way that helped keep the behemoth-bulk of this mega-meal intact. We brought our sandwiches back to our room, and were thoroughly STUFFED! I could only finish half, saved the other half for breakfast. My husband wolfed his whole monster, exclaiming it was one of the best sandwiches he's ever had. Sometimes the great sandwiches of our lives come from unexpected places--like this Byrne Dairy! If you have a hankering for a superb sandwich at a STELLAR DEAL (just $9.49 per MASSIVE large sandwich!), look no further! :-O :-D

Simple convenience store, neat and clean, shelves of groceries, coolers of drinks and 2 deli cases…read more One man behind the deli counter serving up either meat and cheese by the pound or subs and sandwiches to order. Harrison bakery fresh rolls holding more meat and cheese than I've ever seen on a sub sandwich. The meat and cheese was sliced fresh and then I got lettuce, tomatoes and onions, thinly sliced on the slicer. I chose not to get any condiments... knowing this would take me a few days to finish and I didn't want it soggy. There aren't really set subs listed...he just asks what you want. I asked what he could put on an Italian sub and I got ham, salami and pepperoni. Everything was fresh and delicious and I could only eat about 1/4 of my sandwich. The BEST!

I don't live in this area, and it never would have occurred to me to enter this store had I not had…read moretheir subs specifically recommended to me. It looks just like any other corner store. They have a little deli counter in the corner without any menu or selections displayed. Just a list of available deli meats and cheeses. I thought maybe with the way people seem to like this place, there would be more to it but the place couldn't have been more straightforward. I don't know why that caught me off guard. The guy just looked up and asked for my order and I fumbled for a second. Oh right, yeah I guess I'm getting... some subs. There was a language barrier, so I pretty much just took it into my own hands to list everything I wanted on the subs based on what I saw on the menu. They don't really have any pre-builds, so when I constructed the Italian sub through my order, they tripled up the meat. That time we had one regular turkey sub, and one absolutely packed sub with full portions of salami, pepperoni and capicola. I don't even know if they charged extra for the actual heap of meat they gave me, because they still came out to less than $10.00 a piece. They also have Jamaican style beef patties/empanadas. I don't know if they make them or if they're frozen, but around here they're not usually that different. I got mine in bread with lettuce and mayo on it like an empanada sandwich. The process was confusing because there was no feedback. When the guy asked me how I wanted it, he just shrugged and said "you can get it however you want. Everyone's got their own tastes." I tried to feel it out like do people usually order empanadas like a sandwich? "You're the customer, I'll make it however you order it!" A few more of those and I stopped asking. Whatever, put it on bread, let's sandwich this thing up. Anyway, the food is ridiculously inexpensive, and the subs are excellent quality. I don't really know the metrics for deli subs beyond hit or miss. It must be the meat they use, because the sub rolls were totally standard, and there was nothing special about how they were made. Even at the same pricing, I'd take these over Wegmans, DiBellas, Firehouse, Jersey Mike's, Jreck, any of the good deli subs I can remember getting in Syracuse. Don't overthink it, just come by and order a cold sub the way you want it. Great price, great quality, adequate service.
