It's definitely off the beaten path and completely unassuming, but I definitely recommend seeking this place out. Their deli counter is well priced and always packed with patrons for MTOs and takeaway portions. They also have hard ice cream to dip into cones and bowls. After that it's always an adventure as to what you're finding. All the dry goods, random produce and baked goods along with refrigerated and frozen items. It's a small store that gets quite crowded, so pack your patience. The checkout line gets long but moves efficiently. It's an adventure!

Forry's is tucked back there-- but it's a true Lancaster County gem. I'm a little transparent with my feelings! Ha! And after oooooing and ahhhhhing one too many times, a fellow shopper said, "so when did you move to the area?" And I had to say "I've been living here for the last twelve years!" And she said, "and you're just now coming here?!?!? What took you so long?!??" My thoughts exactly! Ugggghhhh!!! WHYYYYY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!?? Forry's has a deli counter with all the Lancaster county favorites; soft serve ice cream, a made to order sandwich counter, -- like Subway-- but Soooooo much better (they even have pretzel rolls!!!!) They have produce, meat, bulk goods, frozen gourmet entrees including REAL gnocchi and ravioli-- I mean-- oh my LORD-- that little, non-assuming shop, is tucked in the back -- where one goes there because one wants to-- because it's a heavenly destination-- and exudes love and care from the second you walk in! And as was pointed out to me by the sweetest lady ever at the register: "ya hafta try our oatmeal raisin cookies. They're the best," and she was NOT wrong! We got the chocolate chip ones too. So good. Get over there y'all! Forry's is one of those places that just might renew your faith in humanity and give you a reason to go on. Just a bit of homey heaven, just a little off the beaten path. Don't be lazy like I was. Go check it out!

We stopped in for lunch and went straight for their grilled footlong hot dog with fresh-cut fries, plus a pack of snack sticks from the butcher shop. Calling it a "hot dog" doesn't do it justice--this thing is a perfectly spiced, seasoned sausage, and it's enormous. It comes tucked into a super soft, fluffy roll, and we topped ours with Schmidt's homemade sauerkraut and mustard. Watching (and smelling) it sizzle on the flat-top grill right in front of us made the whole experience even better. The fresh-cut fries were spot on--especially with plenty of malt vinegar available (thank you, Schmidt's!). The whole meal could easily satisfy two hungry adults. Beyond lunch, Schmidt's has so much to offer--Wednesday Night Dinners with homestyle favorites, Friday & Saturday lunch specials (like their signature footlong sausage sandwich, brisket, smash burgers, and more), and of course their incredible butcher shop with sausages, bacon, sauerkraut, and seasonal treats. PRO TIP: Don't just wander in and hope for the best. Schmidt's keeps things interesting with their Wednesday Night Dinners and Friday & Saturday Lunch Specials, but the only way to know what's cooking is to stalk their Facebook page... unless you like living dangerously and showing up to be surprised. Either way, you're winning! This isn't just a place to stop if you're nearby--it's a weekend lunchtime destination worth planning around. Schmidt's has earned a permanent spot on my go-to list!

Being from Central PA, my husband and I grew up on bologna sandwiches. When we learned we are just a 30 min drive from the outlet, we jumped in the car and drove right there! It's easy to miss as the storefront blends in with the neighbor hood. Just look for that familiar Seltzer's face logo and you'll find it! There was a fundraiser going on with a local radio station and grilled bologna sandwiches for sale outside. We enjoyed a sandwich then went in to an old timey style mom and pop shop full of t-shirt and other apparel, cups, souvenirs, and every style of bologna you could imagine for sale. They've expanded their flavors to 5 now, not just original and sweet. There's Chipotle, Double Sweet smoked, and a honey smoked flavor with free samples to try! They offer bologna bites, unique bologna jerky, bulk items and discounted misshaped slices. One of my favorites is the Dutch grillers, thick cut slices perfect for grilling and their "smoked coffee" has such a unique smoky taste I love. (No it doesn't taste like bologna but has a nice smoky aroma) They also partner and stock products from local small business which I appreciate. Every time you go in you find something new! There's also a mini museum of how they got started, their impact on PA government and history. A copy of their episode of dirty jobs plays in the background and gives a look into how the sausage is made so to speak. Overall a great place to stop if you're in the Hershey/Lebanon area, want to sample some local culture and cuisine and learn about the central PA area.

But people congregate there and just talk to each other its the complete opposite of a convenience store where you just want to get in and out as soon as possible. the people seriously talk about the weather when theyre in line at the counter, and then they ask if all the foods fresh, i mean in vietnamese too. i'd want to know if it was fresh, but it takes forever sometimes, it just upsets me so bad.

It's in a yellow house and it's actually quite a cute little grocer. A little tight moving around but you can pretty much find quite a selection there, from spices to vegetables to canned goods. We were hoping they had Munik spices from Indonesia; we've not found a place that has this brand yet. *still looking* Some of the boxed items seemed old. I wanted to try this almond agar agar stuff and the boxes were stuck to each other - like the boxes had gotten wet somehow. This is why this place got a 4 star from me. I really didn't like that. Additionally they were light on produce. We also saw sesame balls at the register. No one in Va. makes them right now, and we've not had any for months and months. We saw two hard old ones there at the register. Ew. Just throw those things out! But we did ask the man about them and he said "Come on Wednesday after 3, 4 or 5 pm and we have everything fresh". So maybe I'll be trying to go there again Wednesday or Thursday and see if they have sesame balls or fresh cakes, and see if they have more produce then too. I thought their rice was expensive. $12.95 for a bag of jasmine rice! Kim's is $12.75, and we can get it in Va for $9. Sam's Club here has it for $8 but it's a different brand (Elephant). But my husband said their spices were a lot cheaper than other places. So I guess it all evens out - as long as you don't by the $12.95 bag of rice! LOL
