One of the most important things I learnt from my mum is the importance of a good fitting bra,…read moreespecially if you're bigger than a C! It's all very well buying yourself a pretty bra and knicker set every few months from Zara or H&M but they almost certainly won't last and don't fit properly, which makes your clothes fit badly and essential could give you back problems. I came to Bravissimo with my sister, on the advice of a friend to get a proper fitting and invest in some 'proper' bras (call before and you'll be sure to have somebody help you). This shop is for people size D and above, not people who need egg warmers like me, just so you know. The girl who measured her was really down to earth and made her feel very comfortable, She told her where she was going wrong, i.e. wearing bras too big, and suggested some brands that would do her justice. She bought 3 bras for under £100 but worth every penny, her whole shape and posture has improved.

Selling lingerie, swimwear and specially fitted clothing for big boobed women, Bravissimo is like a…read moresecret club, hidden away from the prying eyes of North Street passersby. The shop front is comprised of a door and then stairs to the unknown, a world only open to ladies gifted with a Dcup or more. Upstairs you'll find a wide selection of bras and support clothing, all quite expensive but very good quality and there's no frump involved. They do cup sizes right up to K and offer free non-obligatory fittings which you can either walk in to or pre-book. The staff are very responsive to customers wandering up from the downstairs entrance and trot over to assist, and are particularly helpful if you're not sure what you're looking for.

One I usually avoid if I can help it! This is a review for mainly the beauty department, as the…read moreclothing isn't relevant to me personally. The store is in a great location in the centre of town, so really convenient for browsing or picking up a few things when you're out shopping. Debenhams also offers a great points-based reward card for cosmetics purchases, the Beauty Club Card, giving you a £5 discount for every £167 you spend - there are better reward programs out there but always helpful if you shop here often. The customer service, however, is my main complaint! Most of the time there will be absolutely no-one to be seen at a counter. When I've asked other staff members to help me, even when I know the exact item I want to purchase, they're quite unfriendly and seem like they'd rather be doing literally anything else than serving me and act like my business is a huge hassle and inconvenience to them. Many times I've just gone to buy the same thing in another department store up the road instead! Conversely, when there is someone at the counter, on several occasions I felt like I was being forced into a purchase, as if the staff were completely desperate to get rid of certain products, rather than considering my personal needs or being genuinely helpful. A miserable and stressful shopping experience! Additionally, I would NOT recommend the Benefit Brow Bar at this location! I'd heard so many good things about Benefit and wanted to get my overgrown brows shaped in time for my upcoming holiday, instructing the technician to leave them full with a natural shape, as I only wanted them tidied up. Rather than using the vacant treatment room, she waxed my brows in front of all the customers (and this was quite a busy day) and I noticed a few laughing and sniggering at my discomfort. It was much more painful than any brow waxing I'd ever experienced as she kept waxing the same areas over, and when I looked in the mirror.. nearly all of my brow hairs were gone! Instead of full, luscious brows I was left with two skinny tadpoles and an expression of permanent surprise. I started to cry a little after seeing them and she had the audacity to ask if I wanted to make another appointment! Needless to say I will NEVER go back and had to use so much makeup to make them resemble eyebrows for months afterwards. If you want value for money and a pleasant shopping experience, stay well away! Although Debenhams have a rewards system and sometimes have deals worth browsing in the sales after Christmas, I won't be coming back any time soon. There are other department stores in town selling the same products with far better customer service!

Staff are helpful and unlike some stores the racks are full of different sizes. Also, as someone from the US, I haven't been able to try on bras in a store back in America since I was maybe 16. The store is easy enough to find and is nicely situated in Covent Garden which is great for shopping and eating. The store is bright, well presented and the lay out is good. The downstairs fitting area is very luxurious with lovely décor and a nice couch for bored husbands/boyfriends to sit and wait. The staff are plentiful, very knowledgeable and extremely polite, professional and friendly. I went to be measured as I realised one day that I had absolutely no idea what size I was and that every bra I owned was rubbish and didn't support me at all. The young lady assigned to fit me was very friendly and asked if it was OK for her to be in the changing cubicle with me whilst I was trying on bras which I thought was a refreshing change from the M&S fittings I've had where the assistant will just barge in on you no matter what state of undress you're in. Bravissimo don't believe in measuring women with a tape measure as apparently this is not at all accurate. They do it mostly by eye and it's a real skill. The girl who was fitting me told me it was her first time and when she called her supervisor to check if she'd made the right decision in determining my size, she had got it spot-on and I was very impressed! As it happens, I had been wearing a 38D when in fact I was a 32GG! Once we knew what size I was, she asked me what kind of styles I liked and went to fetch me some things to try on. I can't fault the quality of service at Covent Garden in the slightest. Where the store does fall down is firstly in the organisation of the stock on the racks. On the day I went, it was early and there were hardly any customers yet all the stock was completely out of order. You would think all the sizes would run from smallest at the front and have the biggest at the back. However, once I knew my size I had to spend ages going through the racks checking the labels on every single bra because they were all over the place. The second problem I have with this branch is that there was not a lot of selection. There was only a teeny tiny fraction of items available in the store that are available on the website and in the catalogue. There also didn't appear to be much of the newer lines in the store - a lot of what they had there seemed to be from the last catalogue and not the most recent one. However, you can order anything you want for home delivery and there is no delivery charge if you order in-store. Lastly, knickers. On my visit to Bravissimo in Covent Garden, every time I found a bra in a style I liked and spent ages rifling through all of them to find one in my size, I could never find any knickers to match. It was very frustrating and I ended up ordering most of the stuff that I had gone all the way from Hackney to Covent Garden to buy and bring home.
