This is the BEST center to go to for Breast Health Baptist Legacy Oaks on Fredericksburg Rd, Breast…read moreCenter is SOLEY FOCUSED on Digital and 3-D Mammography, Ultrasound Imaging, Bone Densitometry (DXA) Exams, and much more.
Their staff is so polite & care about your privacy & dignity when you're in their care.
The Facility is clean, comfy chairs, TVs & has Coffee in it's Initial sign in waiting area~ if you don't do sugar, be prepared & bring in your sugar alternative, I always carry Sweet n Low in my purse for such occasions since
I don't do Sugar. They check you in fast, wait time is typically 5-10 minutes, (afternoons are best time to go, no waiting) & you can do paperwork online which enables you to relax & enjoy your Coffee, before they call you to go back to exam area. Once called & taken back, you change in private dressing area into A VERY Soft Comfy Half Top-to waist gown (which they have XL & XXL for Large Breasted Women, which is very thoughtful of Legacy Oaks to be concerned about Patient Dignity & covering you up. You change & then can sit in Exam Room Waiting Area, which has Crackers, Chips & Famous Amos Cookies to snack & munch on & TV is always playing...it's vey comfortable if you have have to repeat some extra Mammo views. Although I've NEVER had to wait more than 5 minutes for them to come greet me & take me to Mammography room for initial Mammogram, although they do have you return and wait there while Mammograms are "viewed by in Staff Professional Radiologist in real time which is great because you get your answer of "YES~
you are fine, nothing is abnormal, or of concern!" If you are like me, you are asked to sit there with TV & snacks several times, in case the Radiologist reviewing your different views of Mammo Radiographs, sees an area they are concerned about and have to ask you to go back into Mammography exam room to have several more precise views done of area of concern. So it's nice to sit & have a snack & watch TV. I am a personally a Patient of 7 yrs there & they always call me back, sometimes twice, because I have an area that was of concern they have been watching for 2 years. I think some people think it is a inconvenience & hassle to do all this & go from 1 waiting area to another, then wait, go do Mammo, then go wait until they say "You are good to go!" Frankly I don't mind. My Mother had Breast Cancer, and I saw the agony she went through because it wasn't found EARLY! (not this clinic) So I appreciate they are so thorough & if they called me back me back 10 times for a better Radiograph view, "I'm willing & running in that room!" I don't want to go through what my Mother had to & THANKFULLY she's alive 20 years later & in remission still, after a Mastectomy, chemo & radiation & reconstruction surgery. So complain all you want about waiting for
long periods of times, but stop & think
"Maybe it's a friend in there, a Aunt or Mother of s Friend..."because another Woman is being checked 4 more times for a better view of an area in a hard to get angle or position for a Radiograph....that they just might be able to get EARLY DETECTION & SAVE HER LIFE!" The Radiologist even show me in their office on a big screen video what they are making sure that they get "THE BEST, CLEAR PICTURES OF, to make the BEST DECISION on if it's Benign or looks Suspicious or has GROWN!" I think this is the greatest Mammography Center & the Whole staff work together & They TRULY CARE FOR EACH PERSON'S LIFE~"FOR EARLY DETECTION & A CANCER FREE FUTURES!" After showing me my area they were watching, after each visit & many extra Radiograph pictures taken & waiting, the Radiologist would come to me afterwards & say we want you back in 3 months to make sure it doesn't change/grow, then they would say "you can come in 6 months, it hasn't changed." Then after 2 years of all that, they showed me the area again on the Digital Video Radiograph in their office & said "YOU'RE GOOD we haven't seen a change in 2 &1/2 years, see you in a YEAR!"
"BEST NEWS I EVER HEARD!"
So Ladies, please DON'T WHINE about wait times & going back for more views/radiographs, they are trying to help you prevent horrible chemo or radiation or sadly....death!" Be grateful & Thank Them!
