I was very pleasantly surprised that the Emergency Room wasn't very busy at all. The security guard brought out a wheelchair and I was brought in after registering at the admissions desk. The staff were friendly and helpful. The physician who saw me was a recent graduate of VCMC's highly rated Family Practice Residency. He was knowledgeable, informative, and concerned. My ankle was x-rayed and showed that beside the ligament injury (when I had to pop my ankle back into place, I knew the ligaments were compromised!) my distal fibula was also fractured. The physician consulted with the Orthopedic MD. A splint was placed to minimize movement and pain. Follow up x-rays were taken and I was back home after just 3 hours! I would like to inform everyone of my awful experience at this hospital! I woke up in the middle of…read morethe night with severe dizziness. The room was spinning uncontrollably. I went to this hospital and I was treated so badly by Evelyn Hernandez and the associate who did my IV. The associate who put in the IV was very sweet but she didn't know what she was doing and she kept jamming it in my arm regardless of me screaming and crying in pain. The first question is why were they practicing on me when I'm severely dizzy and vomiting every time I laid down? I kept screaming that I was in pain and none of them listened to me. It proceeded to continue with her jabbing it in harder and getting it wrong. I told Evelyn Hernandez to take it out but said NO. I repeated myself and told her that it hurt she refused & proceeded to demonstrate how to do it showing the associate how to flush the IV and why it was stuck. I'm NOT a demonstration model. I kept screaming and crying and no one cared. Then they took me to an enclosed room with curtain I was secluded in a weird space yet the hospital was very empty. Then Evelyn came in to tell me I needed to take a pill to help with dizziness and she kept forcing me to take it. I cried out " no please I can't it's too big I'm very sensitive to medication" she kept insisting. I let her know that I wasn't able to take it because I was very sensitive to medication. Anyway, I finally agreed because I felt so much pressure from her. So she opened it and gave it to me, I changed my mind last minute because I know my body it doesn't matter if she's a nurse, my body is sensitive I can't changed that . Then she got MAD at me and gave me attitude. She said fine I guess you can just waste it! And she threw it away repeating sassy words out her mouth because she said I wasted it. I called her to come back and asked her to get whomever was in charge of her. She okay but then she never came back to get anyone. I had to go out of the bed and get someone myself. And before anyone thinks how were you able to get up and go if you had severe dizziness. The dizziness was triggered from laying down not standing up. I went into this room where there was the charge nurse Jess Hill and Evelyn Hernandez and the lady who took my vitals. Jess hill barely helped me. Evelyn all of a sudden was being "nice" because I told on her but I'm sure nothing came of it. This is my first ever negative interaction with a nurse staff. I have never been treated like this by any nurse provider. On top of everything, Evelyn LIED on my medical forms saying I took the pill. I didn't take it. This hospital has been awful though. I had another doctor who was not very nice when I was there his name was: And I also called to ask if they had certain equipment to check on something and some receptionist yelled at me saying " Well of course we're a hospital!" But the last time I went there they asked me if it was ok that they didn't have certain equipment like Ventura hospital before I was to get seen so I didn't understand why she yelled at me. Another time the vitals nurse laughed at me and made a joke about me outloud because I came in with a big hat. So rude! I was having an issue with light sensitivity and the hospital lights are not the most friendly. I hate this hospital and now I'm scared to go back and this is the closest one to my house. I'm so traumatized by this situation.

Definitely makes all the difference when going to a medical appointment. I docked a star because I was seen by the doctor described in Cali's review. At one point she even asked me about which tests I needed...um last time I checked I wasn't a licensed physician, though I have an idea of what needs to be done I don't really have a professional opinion. I docked another 2 stars because 3 different nurses tried to draw my blood 6 different times. And nothing. I drank water all day and even drank 3 more ups during the blood draw. I left aching from all the pokes. :/ I don't think I'll come back unless I really have to.
