Alexis Murray is the BEST. She is very attentive, lets you fully explain yourself & your concerns, speaks to you so respectfully, doesn't gaslight you & tries to see things your way so that she can better understand you, & she respects your personal beliefs, & does not come off judgmental nor does she make you feel stupid. Lately we have been going to see Alexis Murray for my son almost once monthly. She is always so patient and detailed with us. She explains herself very well & lets us as parents feel safe enough to ask her many questions & figure out how to go about things in regard to my son's health. She also is so reassuring and makes us feel safe!!! She is a gem there. Astrid is a medical assistant there at Primary Medical and she was also very attentive with son. She made him feel very comfortable and made him laugh. When you have little kids all the little things matter & when they take the extra steps to make sure your child is comfortable it puts us as parents at ease. I, myself have also been seen by Alexis Murray & can attest to a great bedside manner. All in all, I am super happy that my whole family goes to Primary Medical in Oxnard. Give Alexis Murray a go, you will not be disappointed!!!

New insurance...new doctor. Sounds like fun, huh?…read more For a couple years I have been going to the Airport Urgent Care in Oxnard and had mixed experiences. When I got my new insurance I had to choose a new doctor and Dr. Alcocer with the Spanish Hills Medical group was recommended by my wife's doctor. I was a little worried when I called in mid January to make an appointment and they had to schedule me in mid February. They explained later on that one of the doctors in the group had just retired and that the other doctors had to make up for all those extra patients. They gave me a call the day before to confirm my appointment and told me to come in a few minutes early to fill out paperwork. I arrived 15 minutes early, filled out a stack of paperwork and then waited to be called. They called me in about 5 minutes later. Woah. 5 minutes...that's awesome. I had an awesome nurse who took all my vitals and got me ready for my appointment and then about 5 minutes later I was visited by Dr. Alcocer. He had an amazing demeanor. He seemed like he was not in a rush at all...he acted like he wanted to know everything about me and what he could do to help me with my regular issues like my asthma. He gave me all the prescriptions that I needed with 6 months of refills so I didn't have to worry about waiting for my pharmacy to call in for authorization. That was such a relief from my previous doctor. All in all the whole appointment took maybe 20 minutes, 30 minutes tops. I was completely impressed with the whole experience and I look forward to having the Spanish Hills Medical Group and Dr. Alcocer on my side when it comes to my health. :0)

She said to search around for someone to write the prescription. They all only get 20 minutes per patient. They get to address your 1 thing and that's it. I needed to transfer to the Santa Paula office since it's taken time to get in with pain management separately. Dr Lami is a gem, he understands and agrees to be helpful if you need something and then when you call back, the staff can't be bothered to assist. I think the staff answers calls for all of the offices and some of them just do what they can to get you off the line and don't really care if they help you. I guess they think when you call back someone else will do the work. Lazy. Then they get mad that you call so many times. Trust me, I wish I didn't have to spend 2 days trying to get someone to understand what is needed. I did the work asking about my request from the dr 2 weeks ago. Then gave them a heads up on Monday or Tuesday. Then asked for what I needed yesterday. Now today, All the calls to the pharmacy then Dr office then pharmacy etc. come on. Should I really have to go through all that? Even though I would ask for someone that I already talked to, the person would say they could help me and no different results. You work in healthcare so you should act like you care about the patients? It's 5:04 and I called 8 minutes ago. I've been left on hold after closing time. Daniella the office manager, did pick up at 5:08, she got the results needed but then scolded me for calling so many times. Her tone was rude. I think that there could be a level of customer service care that could increase significantly in order to make the experience better at this office. Dr. Castel listens to all our concerns and goes out of her way to make sure that my mother always feels like she is important and that her needs will be taken care of. My mom says that Dr. Castel is the best doctor that she has ever had and appreciates the care she is given. We also appreciate all the care we get from Dr. Castel's assistant Kristen! Kristen is always kind and understanding when she is working with us. I sleep well knowing that my mother is well cared for with Dr. Castel and Kristen, looking out for her needs! If I could give more than five stars I would. Primary Medical is the best!

Billing dept mgr and scribe says my spouse has low back pain. He takes an occasional Advil after riding over 40 miles on his bicycle and up in the mountains at 76 yr old. Dr Williams asked me if I took calcium/D3. I have NEVER been D3 deficient and started taking calcium with D3 in it in when 50 years old as Dexa scan said a bit of osteopenia which has changed little in 25 years. We simply answered Dr Williams questions and I asked her to check my husband's hearing. The scribe and Billing Mgr will write in anything they can (true or not) to charge you extra! It was all routine exam, eyes, ear, throat heart, lung, and breast exam for me. No internal exams. We will be changing doctors asap and refuse to pay extra fees for routine exams and to answer questions. We are healthy, exercise, eat right, and NOT overweight. We reported them to Aetna FRAUD dept! I notified Dr Williams. She will be retiring in 2 years she told me. AVOID THIS GROUP with offices located in Ventura and Oxnard. This is the first time they started UPCHARGING despite going there for several years for our physicals/wellness visit!

I also really appreciate that when you call the office, a real person answers the phone instead of an automated system. That is such a refreshing change when you need help and actually want to speak to someone. Most of the time they answer on the first ring. I highly recommend Dr. Becky Wade and her office!

She didn't like the way I was sitting in my chair with one leg up and spoke to me as if I was a child and not a 40 yr old woman. Then she said she couldn't continue the appt or care for me at all even in the future. This is upsetting and not how someone should be treated by a DOCTOR. I definitely don't want her as my dr if she can't show empathy when someone is upset/crying. I felt judged and dismissed. I've never been treated this way by a Dr. and hopefully no one else will be.

Dr Hofer listens to what you are saying and has a conversation with you. I felt very comfortable with her. I am so thankful to have found this practice. My Beloved MD of 12 yrs is giving up her practice. It has been a HUGE challenge to find a local MD who is accepting new patients, that you don't have to wait 3 to 6 months to see.
