I used Laurie's services for my wedding. She created invitations, a bar menu, dessert menu, dinner…read moremenus and place cards. She even created fun quotes for the bar area. Due to a very short engagement, I didn't have a lot of time to manage the creative process for paper. However, Laurie made it very very easy. I trusted her implicitly, and she nailed the design on the spot. Initially, I wanted something very "Pinterest-y" style-wise. However, she expanded on what I wanted, and came up with something a million times better and more unique. I also wanted paper products that were more classic, and I felt she did a phenomenal job executing my vision. Thank you Laurie for being so incredibly easy to work with, and having such a refreshing take on the design process! You made everything so easy for this bride.

If you're looking for a reputable Architect, congratulations - your search is done!…read more As a real estate investor, developer, and broker, I've worked with dozens of architects and contractors in San Diego. Everyone in the industry is looking for 3 things: a job done well, a job done cheap, and a job done fast. Carrin and his wife Laura are the ONLY architects that can deliver all 3. What sets Carrin and Life House apart from the competition is their industry knowledge of working for years with larger and pricier ADU and architect companies. Carrin brings this experience into his own company, where he spent years learning how to accelerate plans through permitting, and passes that savings on to you - the client! Most newer architecture companies will offer a cheap service that hits tons of delays due to inexperience, or they will offer an expensive service that gets the job done but you really pay for the boutique and white glove experience. With Life House Design, you get the attention of a boutique firm, the experience of 10+ years in the industry, and the professionalism of a 5 Star architect. Life House has the experience to take on garage conversion ADU's, ground up large multifamily, and everything in between. As an aside, Carrin is a military Veteran, and his attention to detail and care for his clients is top notch !

I needed help determining the way forward when it came to developing my property in Alpine, CA. I…read morehad several ideas that included adding a trailer/tiny and/or an ADU. My primary motivation is being to leverage my property to create additional revenue streams. The problem is that my property is a bit larger (1.75 acres), runs a septic, has a hilly topography which impacts the steepness of the driveway (challenging for larger vehicles, and needs soft infrastructure on the side furthest from the primary residence. I thought I needed to talk to somebody who knew enough about all these disciplines and could help me determine the critical path to getting a trailer comfortably parked on my property including the supporting soft infrastructure (power, water, septic, Wi-Fi, Trailer parking & connections, and proper access (aka 2nd driveway). My goal was to keep development costs down since I was working with a limited budget and still needed to purchase the trailer. I did exhaustive internet searches to find a company that might understand my situation and then I stumbled upon the ADU Geeks site. Right away I realized that they did not just build cookie-cutter ADUs, they were an end-to-end ADU solution provider. I gave them a call thinking they might blow me off since my problem was small potatoes compared to their target clients. I had several calls with CJ and another rep who were both extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to, they understood my issues right away and proceeded to educate me and answer questions I had been trying to answer for months (For example, they introduced the term "soft infrastructure" and explained the concept to me- which made my life much easier). They also understood I wasn't interested in an ADU, but still helped me patiently and organized the requisite call with Kalani, the founder of ADU Geeks. After that call, I understood why Kalani's team had been so helpful and patient. The culture sprouts straight from the top and Kalani is just as knowledgeful, helpful, and patient as his team. Kalani picked up on the fact that I was a veteran, and shared with me that he and many on his team served in the Marine Corp. He immediately got down to business and started helping me talk through my vision. Now by that I mean he started helping ME personally, he didn't try to sell me a service or try to upgrade me to an ADU build. He listened to my issues as a homeowner and tried to help me solve them on my own without having to pay for his services. He even volunteered to conduct a free site assessment, discuss some of the more complex issues, and quarterback any project decided upon. If that wasn't enough, he helped me talk through various options I, as a homeowner, had available to me to create passive revenue streams with my property. Kalani was direct, efficient, cut through the fog quickly. He helped me talk through my own ideas and boil them down to the true goals and eliminate the rest - that alone saved me thousands of dollars. I'm sure glad he's on my team.

I looked at Yelp before working with this company and questioned the bad reviews I saw. Zach, who…read morewas my original contact, admitted they had some growing pains in earlier years and had addressed problems. I wish I had continued vetting this company before hiring them and can't blame anyone else, but I completely agree with the more recent one-star reviews (which came after I was already working with them). The experience has been a disaster. They do a very nice feasibility study at a low cost (loss leader, obviously), then sign you up with a sloppy contract (I pointed out a number of issues with it to them). Soon Zach was no longer with the company and the person who claimed to be my new contact was never heard from again. I went forward with my project, had the original architect replaced shortly after the design phase began, then lost my only reliable contact within the company, who made sure that meetings were set up and questions were addressed. I was eventually able to speak with her to find out she had been laid off, happening right after the replacement architect notified me that he had voluntarily left the company. At that point there was nobody I could speak with until I managed to get hold of the CEO's number. Multiple calls, texts and emails were either ignored or I was promised quick responses which never came. My permit application was returned with comments from the city and I spent the next 5 weeks hounding them to respond. They assured me that their responses professionally addressed all of the issues, which was a complete lie. I ended up having to apply to the city to replace them as the project applicant. They were notified of that and given 5 business days to respond. Not surprisingly, they never bothered. Having taken over the control of my project, I had to hire someone else and pay for work to be duplicated in order to keep my project moving along. I'm still awaiting the permit, but have made progress and am relieved to be rid of these scammers. As they were referred to me by a real estate broker who heard their pitch at a professional meeting, I gave him a heads up not to refer anyone else. They obviously get clients via these pitches to real estate professionals, so I hope those organizations do a better job of vetting them before putting them in front of their members. I wouldn't wish my experience to be repeated to anyone else.

San Diego Electric Sign has done excellent work for my business, Connect English Language Institute…read more(http://www.yelp.com/biz/connect-english-san-diego). They worked closely with us to design a visible and durable sign to face the freeway from our building. They helped us with the city permit process, they built the sign, they brought out a crew to install the sign confidently, and then a year and a half later, they moved the sign to our new, larger building space when we had to expand. Through all of this help, their prices remained totally reasonable, which was why we were attracted to using their service in the first place. Their salesperson, Martha, came to our site on a number of occasions to get an idea of what we needed and how to get the job done right. She contacted our property management company and got the paint colors right, and then she and Ward scheduled the right day to get the job done. Can't thank them enough. I have no complaints about San Diego Electric Sign. They were exactly what my business was looking for at a price that fit our budget. The sign they put together for us keeps us visible to all of the people passing by on the 8 freeway. (see pic of their work)
