I felt it was a decent experience. Welcoming team takes their jobs seriously and you WILL be greeted, better than at most churches in the area. Worship sounds pretty good and is genuine and sincere. The whole service is on the long side, at least two hours maybe longer, so I think some people manage that by arriving late. The church is spirit-filled, so be prepared for prophesy, tongues, laying on of hands for healing, etc. They will pray for you at the end if you wish.
Most amazingly, the pastors genuinely extend grace even after salvation, and don't pressure the congregation to perform for them (like many well-meaning pastors end up doing)! The messages are grace-motivated instead of shame-motivated. Ex. "You get to participate with God. We hope you don't miss out, but if you do, God's still going to get it done another way" rather than "You have to do God's work or it won't happen." Subtle but very real and very rare relaxed attitude in the evangelical church! Also, the pastors are bi-vocational, which means they don't need to get their income through the offerings, which takes a lot of the pressure off the system, IMO.
Women were pretty welcoming at the women's fellowship breakfast I attended, and they do a cool women's Zoom prayer/prophesy meeting once a month (or is it weekly?) that allows the average participant to take turns leading.
I couldn't commit to attending the church though, because I had no regular way to get to know people in person. My friend who invited me to the church invited me to her small group, but it was getting too big, so I was told by church staff that I couldn't join in. After a "miss" where my small group interest card went missing and I had no follow up for a month or two, I was eventually assigned (after my friend brought it up to the small groups' coordinator) to a small group. It was approximately 60 minutes from my home due to rush hour traffic (my friend's group was about 25 minutes, not bad in ATL. I live only about 25 minutes from the church). The particular weeknight my assigned small group met was also the one day my homeschooled kid had for-pay classes all day until about 5 pm. So, it didn't work out. Maybe I will try again with a different way to get to know people. read more
