I started attending this church because my Pastor in Northpoint Andy Stanley started preaching here on a temporary basis. This is one of the Northpoint group of churches. At this time, it's there are eight in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. I most recently attended this church because of a short lecture series on How to Read the Bible better. I was basically born in church. I was teaching Sunday school by the age of 12. I have been a minister for two decades and I have planted a church. I mention all of that to say this. I have never been affiliated with a church like this one. Each and EVERY WEEK the church leaves me full. There are no empty calories in the sermons, and I always leave a better man than I was when I entered the sanctuary. I am one of those people who take notes on a laptop as the word is being ministered and often, I return home to re read my notes and I always get a fresh revelation. Recently I found myself in a situation beyond my control and the church came through for me in a way I cannot even describe with words. The prayer team even sent out a message to pray for me (which I was not even aware of until recently) and the Benevolence coordinator was there for me as well. I have been in churches who were there when you were up - but when you stumbled, they were nowhere to be found. That is not apart of the Buckhead Church DNA. So often Ive noticed that people can use this forum to point out negative experiences. We attended the baptism of one of our friends at this church, Buckhead Church. This church is unlike any I've visited previously. I grew up going to a traditional Southern Baptist church in a small city in North Carolina, the dress code and decorum of which are fairly standard and common in across America. I'd describe Buckhead Church as a "modern" or "non-traditional" church. It is non-denominational. Attending a service here was like attending a show at a theater or going to a sporting event. There were police officers outside directing traffic. You park in a parking deck (free). Signs will lead you to where to park and enter. You enter the church from the 3rd level of the deck with a crowd of people. Once inside the building, there are several uniformed ushers in black T-shirts to welcome and help guide you if needed. Some of the ushers have headsets on. It makes the environment feel like a big show or stage production. I saw two guest services counters. There are multiple doors into the auditorium. It's kind of like a performing arts center or sports arena, but there are no assigned seats here. It's all general admission. Sit wherever you want. I wanted to sit in the balcony, but it was closed. This is a big church. I think it can be considered a "megachurch" and is on par, in terms of sanctuary/auditorium size, to another big church I've been to, First Baptist Church Atlanta. Both Buckhead Church and First Baptist Atlanta can seat about 3,000 each for each of their services. Huge. Every Sunday, there are three services at Buckhead Church: 9am, 11am, and 1pm. Our friend got baptized during the 1pm service. The baptism happened about 15 minutes in. It was a single baptism (one person), short and sweet. What was interesting about this baptism was there was a high-quality video intro of our friend introducing herself, describing her journey, and how she got involved at Buckhead Church. I've been to several baptisms and have never seen anything like this (then again, I haven't been to a whole lot of different churches either, but I've been in enough). The production quality is what "impressed" me most about this place. The production values are high. I felt like I was at a rock concert, not a church. Instead of a traditional church sanctuary, we were inside a dimly-lit auditorium with a stage set up for a musical act. There were two or three vocalists, three guitarists, and a drummer. The lighting and sound, as well as two big screen displays, was designed just like that of a concert. Instead of hymn books, attendees could sign along to the words on the screens (like karaoke). The sermon was delivered pretty much like a TED Talk. There was no pulpit. Instead, the pastor sat on a stool with a headset on with two screens on either side of him. He used one screen to display a bible verse and the other screen to display a painting that he wanted to use as part of his sermon. The pastor was young. I want to say he was in his 30s. As far as the delivery and message of the sermon itself, ehh... I'm not the best judge of sermons. I thought it was alright. Service, including the baptism, lasted an hour. The church was founded in 2001 and moved to its current location in 2007. Before they opened this location, I remember when they used to hold services at the Atlantic Station movie theater (2006-07). This current location is nice. When we visited, it was clean and looked relatively new. I wonder how much money it takes to own and operate this church. It seems like it has and requires more money than your typical church, but then again, it's a megachurch and I've only been to two. At no point were we pressured to give money, join or sign up for anything. I appreciated that. From my sample size of one 1pm service, the demographics of the attendees was younger (lots of the under-40 group) and more diverse (all races) than other churches I've been to. I saw hardly any elderly people. The staff was nice and welcoming, the men's restroom was reasonably clean (after the service, it was busy, just like after a ball game), the auditorium seats were comfortable, and the sound, lighting, and screen picture quality were great. It was easy to see and hear everything. As for dress code, there isn't really one. You have to wear clothes of course, but you can come in shorts, a T-shirt, flip-flops, and a baseball cap and would not feel out of place. They keep it very casual here. read more

Considering finding another church. They're beginning to focus heavily on GenZ s college students and young adults. With very little programming for mid life adults, singles and older adults. You have to have a balance. They also return calls and emails only when they feel like it. If your married with kids and or college students this is the church for you. read more

Buckhead church is awesome! Andy Stanley is a great pastor and so are the associate pastors. They are great at breaking down scripture to help us understand the historical context and the connection to our lives and today's world. The volunter staff is super friendly, the worship leaders are phenomenal singers, and for all my germaphobes out there the bathrooms are always clean. Protip, if you really want to get plugged in I suggest joining a small group, otherwise its easy to get lost in the crowd. read more

I got involved in the singles ministry and before long, I couldn't walk through the lobby without hugs & conversations from 10+ people I knew. During my first visit the employees/volunteers were very kind and friendly. There is special gift at the desk for first time visitors. The praise and worship was pleasant followed by a large screen coming down. I was unaware that service would be streamed rather than in person. read more

If you do not know someone when you get there-well GOOD LUCK!!! The greeters will probably be about the "ONLY" ones to say "Hello !", or "It's good to see you." The congregation itself doesn't mix very well with visitors and those not in "Small Groups"(which I cannot get to being in a wheelchair/powerchair and needing MARTA. My friend invited me to her church, I went not knowing what to expect but was presently surprised with the overall experience. Parking: parking can be a doozy. If you come down by the old navy entrance and go straight, some people will be going right into the deck.Don't go that way!Go straight and there's a parking lot on your left, that's where I parked!They should be directing people that way too. Once I parked I just followed the crowd inside. The church is massive! There are multiple areas where you can watch the service buy I chose to watch in the main auditorium. The music was pretty contemporary and the service was informative. The whole service lasted exactly one hour. They are very welcoming of visitors and have booths available after the service if you would like to learn more about their church. Great experience! I would defiantly recommend! read more

I am very happy here. I moved to Atlanta from Athens (I think everyone knows that by now) about two months ago. I had visited 7:22 when it was at Northpoint while in college; I went to Athens Church the last couple months in Athens; so naturally, I decided to check out Buckhead Church, since it is the closest location to my current residence. I love it. I joined Fusion just a few weeks into attending Buckhead Church and am really glad I did. It is a big church and it is nice to know a few people that attend now. Fusion wasnt all about Christianity. It was more about getting to know people that attend Buckhead church and make it a smaller place so that you dont feel so lost while attending. I def. feel more comfortable "running into people I know" now. read more

I also want to add that one of the coolest things about the whole NorthPoint organization is that you can catch services online every Sunday (the song portion is on right now on my computer, as I was inspired to write this!) and it is an awesome way to get to church, if you can't physically get there (or are shyer about your church habits!) - Check out http://northpointonline.tv/ If you go to their main website, you can also learn about groups, volunteer opportunities and more. The current "series" for sermons is "Be Rich" - and there's a huge service-orientation approach (they want to drum up 8K volunteer hours) in addition to the messages Andy Stanley shares. The concurrent theme for sermons is "The Immeasurable Life" which just started last week; series topics tend to go hand-in-hand and the "Be Rich" campaign is overlapping the three-to-four week cycle typical of topics. I grew up going to Peachtree Road Methodist and our venerable minister, Don Harp, retired and I wasn't as comfortable with his successor. I'd been looking for a bit for some place I felt comfortable and that meshed with me (PRUMC has a lot of young families with kids and I never had quite gotten into their group/social/etc scene). . . Buckhead Church and NorthPoint in general are definitely more my style. Andy's messages are so sincere, honest and as Holly B said, funny, that you feel comfortable with him. They encourage members to join a group and build a community of people around you for support in times of need. I have to agree with the other negative reviews - this is an entertainment venue. The "fun" is there but not the spirituality. Its a sales meeting - they're there to motivate you for an hour but because it has no meat - its all interpretation and no bible or religious tradition - once you stand up after the show - nothing penetrates your thinking or your heart. Its a meeting, not a church. I think the clincher for me was when I realized the speaker was projected onto a screen- you could hardly tell and I"m sure some ppl thought there was a real person speaking to them, I saw one woman get up and walk up to the stage, shake her head and then B-line it outta there. If I hadn't been w/ friends I'd have done the same. THERE WASN'T EVEN A HUMAN BEING SPEAKING!!! You heard the band and watched TV and then you left the auditorium. Its so diluted spiritually. Its a gathering in an office building w/ a stage, but in no way can this be called a church. read more

I might be one of the few to give a bad review for this place, let alone a church! My boyfriend, son, and I went here last Sunday, we were driving from Stone Mountain, and it was our first time so we were late. So late we got there as service was ending. Which was actually ok for me, I like to scope out big places like that first. So we walk through the church, once we found the entrance, and no one greets us, nothing is clearly labeled, not sure where the sanctuary is or anything. On our way roaming through this church we find someone with the church logo on their shirt rushing by us. So I had to jump out and say excuse me to get her attention to ask her where the sanctuary was. It was right around the corner but we were instructed church was ending. Cool, so we decided to try to find the children's area so the next time we come we know where to go. So we wonder around some more, finally finding somewhere where it looks like kids might be. I found another person that had a church logo shirt on, asked her where my kids age group was, she directed me to the floor that had the info for the floor that had his age group????? We go to the floor for the info, again nothing is clearly marked and no one is around to ask, so we say forget it, let's go upstairs t the 4th floor to the kid's area. So we take the escalator up, and it enters right into the room where my son's age group is. Look around don't see anyone with a church logo shirt, or even a nametag, nothing. So after standing there for 5 minutes staring at these four adults hanging out talking but not acknowledging anyone. I finally ask excuse me, but does anyone work here. She replies Oh yes I do. I reply, well we have been walking all over this church trying to figure out where were supposed to go and what were supposed to do, no one to greet us, and I have had to chase people down to get information. She continues to explain how things work for his age group, and it was all sounding very good, my son was excited, I was excited for him... Then the words, "He can sign in just so we know he is here, but you don't have to sign him out he can just leave." .........Excuse me, He can just leave. So you're telling me my son can tell you he has to use the bathroom and take the elevator to the first floor and walk across the street to Lenox mall because there is no one around in this church! Or someone can take my son out of this building to the parking lot and do whatever he wants to my child, or even to any area in this church since there are so many rooms with no one around! So not only is this church so relaxed that people are wearing what you would wear to a club, but also pastor, God, and religion are optional it seems, so I will option not to go back! read more

Oh man, I'm giving this church 3 stars. I'm going to hell. Just kidding. My knowledge of theology says that I won't. Besides, the ten commandments didn't say i can't give a church 3 stars. So it's not even a sin. But maybe it's buried in Leviticus somewhere. One thing I have to say, a lot of hot chicks seem to go to this church. So if you're single, you can come here to pick up hot Christian chicks or hot Christian men. And yes, it's perfectly normal to go to church to look for potential marriage partners. It's not forbidden or anything. Also, these guys at Buckhead church know how to party. This is one of the only churches I know where they go clubbing during their retreats. Can you imagine going to a church retreat and clubbing was one of your activities? That's pretty cool. Anyway, Buckhead Church is one ultra modern, sleek, mega-church. Their productions look professional. Their praise band feels like a rock concert. It gets pretty exciting. Well, none of the stuff I wrote about is the reason I'm giving this church 3 stars. My only complaint is Andy Stanley's sermon. Granted, I've only been to this church once. So it could've been Pastor Andy's bad day. But I was not impressed at all by his sermon. The sermon seemed like a weak, self help seminar. I heard no theology or the Bible until the very end. It's like he just bolted it on there, reminding everyone they're still listening to a sermon. If I wanted to see a motivational speaker, I would've just gone to see Tony Robbins. Then again, Tony Robbins charges a bunch of money to go to his seminars, and Andy charges nothing. Overall the sermon was boring and had no substance. I don't think that represents the church though, and like I said, I've only been there once. The people I know who are members of Buckhead church are pretty strong Christians (or act like they are), so Buckhead church must have some hardcore small groups. read more

Today was my first visit here, and it was pretty much kinda sorta perfect. This church fits this day and age perfectly. It's in a known area, Buckhead, it's diverse, it appeals to our short-span with being 1 hr... just alot of check marks. Details: LOCATION: In Buckhead, off Peachtree. There are technically two entrances, but coming from Midtown... you pass Bistro Niko, turn left then start following the signs... its a bit of a maze, right turns, left turns, but then you see the police parking guys and know you've found the right place. There's a parking to your right, two parking lots actually... the other one is the parking deck (so one outdoor lot and one park deck). FIRST IMPRESSION: Lots of greeters, everyone was nice and sweet. There were no shortages of smiles and welcomes from their staff. This made me very comfortable and made the place feel inviting. MUSIC: Like the others said... it's a concert. A production for sure, complete with a full band, singers, flashing lights, etc. CONGREGATION/PEOPLE: Very diverse, Very multi-cultural. I guess I've been under a rock lately, but after visiting several different churches this month alone it seems Atlanta churches are almost all pretty much mixed in regards to race, age, etc. Every race was present, families, singles, alot of couple, groups of friends, older, younger. Someone said there seemed to be only people 33 and younger there, but not for the service I went to. There was equal distribution, if I had to give a median age I'd say 39/40... basically it seemed to be alot of folks in there 30s, 20s, and 40s, but then also people in there 50s+ and teens. SERVICE/SERMON: Yes it was broadcasted on the screen like everyone said, but how they have it setup and the high quality of the projection and images, as well as the set design/decor (which matches the actual church walls and lights perfectly with the projected pastors picture) makes it all seem like he's there. I thought I would mind and not like it, but I actually didn't mind at all. The sermon itself was good, he does come from the Bible-- it's non denominational, but Jesus is believed here (which is good of course). They are on certain series right now, today was part 3. He let us know that this sermons well as others are online. Music (2-3 songs), welcome/prayer, offering), sermon. 1 hr in and out. SUMMARY: 4.5/5. I enjoyed myself. Very lovely, clean, inviting atmosphere. As a former "mega church" member, I thought this mega church was gonna be super crowded, crazy traffic when leaving, etc. But nope having 4 services (9AM, 11AM, 1PM, 3PM) perfectly divides up the crowd and makes coming a breeze. I can technically only speak for the 1pm service I visited, but I would imagine they're all pretty similar. This is the perfect church to go to if you are church searching, or if you're in town visiting and want to get a good word, or if you are hosting guests and they want to go to church. You can literally go to church (just 1 hr), then go eat, then go shopping all in the same area. UPDATE (April 2014): 3/5. I went to the 11am service and it was cray cray crowded... which is actually fine because you can see and potentially meet more people, it's the parking though... I sat in the parking lot for a LONG time, about 30 minutes, the parking guys didnt evenly let us out in the outdoor parking lot. They let the sides nearest the exit out for more time meaning they gave those cars waaay more time to go equaling about 10 cars and my side which was at the end only got like 5 cars. COUNT THE CARS, LET AN EQUAL AMOUNT GO FROM EACH SECTION. 5, then 5, then 5, then 5. Its so easy. I could literally change my rating to a 2 for this irritating, non sensical parking situation. But I'll just learn from it. UPDATE (5/4/2014): 5/5. I went to the 6PM service recently and it was great. They're on the Starting Over series and the sermon given was touching. Honestly I was just SO happy to be able to go to church at 6PM. I missed a 5PM service at another church I wanted to try and then looked to see if Buckhead Church had any later service and low and behold they did. What a blessing to the community! I'm so happy they offer so many service times. UPDATE (5/20/2014): They have a special singles series going on right now for May and I've been able to get a little church in twice a week, yay! And the coolest thing is that there's an actual pastor there-- no screen guys it's an actual LIVE PASTOR preaching lol. (His sermons have been just okay though, idk about this particular pastors interpretation of God's word... grace is a wonderful thing, but its not a free pass to be a bad person... a sidebar of "you should try to be good though" at the very end doesn't makeup for it, lol ). The band, man oh man have they been rocking it lately... I can't get "Christ is Enough" by Hillside out of my head-- and I love that! I'm changing my 4 stars to 5. Buzzwords: SUPERFICIAL, BEWARE. No disrespect directed towards those who somehow benefit from the experience, but Andy Stanley and his churches are VERY ripe for criticism. Offering a food analogy, this church is the white bread of white bread. If you are a critical thinker, you won't prosper here. This experience in the Northpoint Ministries and Buckhead Church is geared towards the 8th grade-level education, TV watching masses we discovered are the tragic result of the ruin of American education. It would be forgivable if the group overcame this level of ignorance, but sadly, it promulgates ignorance. 1. Leadership gives no attention whatsoever to spiritual development aside from vague "belief." This is entirely inconsistent with scripture. 2. It's tragic to see people being led on and on, week after week, while being offered mere ideals and no way to attain substantial spiritual transformation aside from conformity to an ideal. The approach is proven to foster social hypocrisy and more, not fewer lost souls. 3. The Music is contemporary and that is not a compliment. Lyrics are typically narcissistic, bordering on evangelical smug, and the music itself is trite, though played by professionals and supported with authentic (and expensive) broadcast-quality technology. History gave us cathedrals and works of liturgical mastery that survived for many important reasons. This "contemporary" framework will be replaced by trend after trend, tangent after tangent, opportunist after opportunist. 4. The theology is American Conservative Evangelical Baptist Ultra-Light Reductionism. Much of the Church's historic and rich teaching is lost in an American theology that is really only decades old and missing most of the components, not to mention the power supply. 5. The rich historic and multicultural texture of human experience including every imaginable field of endeavor since Christ somehow gets left out here. Andy Stanley consistently skips 20 centuries and jumps straight back to an idealized Paul and an imaginary Jesus that wouldn't be recognized by most historic views of Christianity. 6. Accuracy from the pulpit is relevant and the lack of appetite for careful consideration of issues at hand is a demonstration that a person has a minimal aptitude or appetite for truth. Andy Stanley negates important questions he raises as he answers his own inquiries with sweeping generalizations, inconsistencies, and second-rate scholarship while claiming to be a "teacher." 7. Every church should follow this self-rectifying doctrine: "If you want to tell us how to live our personal lives, then you MUST reveal the details of your finances." Try as one might to discover what's going on "in the ledger books" Andy Stanley's ministries are financially inscrutable. Transparency is important for all endeavors, especially God's. 8. MANY commentators on YELP state that the social experience is cold. I amplify that sentiment. It felt like a frat party with cliques and unstated hierarchies. Open discrimination based on age, gender, marital status, etc. are encouraged and practiced in the social context established there. The social feeling one gets is "manipulation." It's entirely appropriate to review Buckhead Church and Northpoint Ministries in Yelp, they ARE big, big businesses. Google "Andy Stanley Criticism" and you find next to nothing, and that's a worrisome sign of a potential cult. Criticize him and be socially ostracized by the "community." That's another worrisome sign. Beware of any pseudo-religious or spiritual group that sucks up time, resources and money from hoards people without giving them tangible actions and a context of accountability to become more God-Like and oriented toward Light and the knowledge of God Within. "The Kingdom of God is Within you" is the core teaching. It's left the building here. read more

So in 2011 I decided that I wanted to go to church more often. I'm raised Catholic but wanted to try a different church. When I found out that a few of my friends go to Buckhead Church, I decided to give it a shot. Four weeks later...I am a huge fan and going to church on Sunday has actually become a highlight for me to look forward to. One thing that I've gotten out of this church is the messages that Andy Stanley delivers. To be able to put words from the Bible and put it to everyday life is purely amazing. Andy is truly a great speaker and very motivational. I am also a fan of the music...the bands and singers are really good! I agree with the other reviews on here that the church is non-threatening and very welcoming. At first, it can be quite overwhelming, but in time you'll find yourself feeling at home. On a side note, the 11AM services gets pretty packed...be sure to arrive early to not be stuck in traffic. If you live in the city, traveling north on Piedmont Rd is your best bet. read more

I went to this church once because my girlfriend kept encouraging me to go, but I didn't appreciate what Andy Stanley had to say.... When Mr. Stanley first came on stage, he talked about a class they were having and encouraged people to check it out and register at the information table in the lobby. He said, "If you're nervous or afraid, just give them a fake name or tell them you're there for someone else," and then he laughed. On the one hand, you could say he was joking, but on the other hand, I think he was sort-of serious. Either way, I didn't think it was funny that the Head Minister of this church was encouraging people to lie - even if he was half-joking. The experience gave me the impression that Mr. Stanley was revealing an aspect of his personality by telling the congregation, "It's ok to lie if you're nervous and it makes things easier." Personally, I think that lying is wimpy and it's a sign of poor character. A lot of people in our society think it's ok to lie if it suits your needs, but I disagree! People with good character tell the truth, even when they're feeling uncomfortable. Sorry, but I'm not going to be a member of a church who's leader is a wimp! read more

Although I could never make this my church home, I do think this is a great church. Of note: 1. The pastor is great. His messages have something for every level. He is unafraid to address controversial topics. He is inclusive without watering down his own belief. Which is a key for me. 2. The "pastor" is always via teleprompter. One of the reasons that I have visited so often is because I thought he would show up eventually. No go. 3. In order to keep with the no pressure theme of the church (I assume) there is no communion or alter call or (horrible horrible horrible) distinct offer of salvation. This was the no way you can join red blinking light for me. 4. I am a minority and although I have visited this church at least 8 times I have only had one experience with any parishioner where I was like hmmmmm? do you have a problem with me? 5. Absolutely mandatory in a church of this size, the church has fusions groups and other ways to create a more personal connection. The church is also very community oriented. I only refrain from participation because I know this is not my church home. 6. Music. I love. It is very 104.7 the fishish. Maybe even a little more "out" than that. You can tell the various leaders really love the Lord. As far as the congregation the level of worship varies but generally the congregation is pretty quiet. Every once in the while I will notice someone joining me with arms raised and singing along loud and off key. 7. CONGRATS to the parking people. I am usually a foodie reviewer. But I felt like I needed to write a simple review on a church I been going to for years. This is a church that is very welcoming from all roads. I am happy to see many people that are not like your typical southern type AND also typical southern type people. People are friendly but not too much for those who are introverts. There are plenty of opportunity for people to get involved- IF THEY WANT. I have brought many friends to this church and I have not had any negative feedback. This place is logical and gives you choice. they call it the church that is for unchurch people. They lay out "this is who we are- you are welcome to be who you are. we don't force you or ideas on you but we are also not going to embrace everything. people are innately different. but lets work together so that there is at least an understanding." My lovely church what more can I say? I've been to several churches throughout my life and this by far is my favorite. I love the messages and everything about the service. Everyone is also very nice and friendly and the church offers many free services for various different things. Service also lasts for exactly 1 hour and there are 4 different services to choose from, so you really don't have an excuse for missing church. Lol One of my favorite things about this church is that they don't chastise or judge you for mistakes you've made. They are all about helping you grow your relationship with the Lord and they completely understand that no one is perfect. Love it here! read more

Not your grandmother's church, and totally not for everyone, but it's been for me for the past few years. Buckhead falls into the non-denominational mega-church category, as literally thousands of people descend each Sunday. If you've been to Buckhead, then you've likely passed by this church in office building clothes . . . it's the squat circular building at Tower Place. I like parking in the open lot (a parking deck fan, I'm not), which means you also pass by the resource center (which is huge and has a pretty nice selection). There are three different services on Sunday, with the 6 PM being my favorite for the thinner crowd and laid back vibe. Oh, and the pastor is usually on a video screen and some of the band members could pass for an American Apparel ad. Like I said, not your grandma's church. read more

Buckhead Church is loved by most who don't have any church experience and/or people who are unfamiliar with Christian doctrines, history and who seldom read the Bible. As a devout Christian, I'm appalled at the lack of doctrine, Biblical education and learning for a church of this size. Andy Stanley is a very small step up from Joel Osteen, being that he is concerned with a "PC" message, focuses exclusively on life application and is concerned with reaching the "unchurched". The problem with this is that there is no evidence of spiritual growth within the congregation. Their idea of "growth" is volunteering at Wamba Land, being part of the host team and helping lead singles ministries. I remember being in their singles ministry called "Fusion" and they played a 10 minute video describing the start of the church for all new comers. Not one mention of God, not one mention of Christ and not one mention of prayer. They also advised the Fusion leaders and volunteers to "refrain from prayer" in large groups for fear of offending people at Fusion events. If you want a sure "cult" experience, I recommend going to their Grouplink event. This is basically the equivalent of a sorority rush event for the purpose of getting Small Groups together. However, the overwhelming Small Group Leaders are majorly unqualified to lead a group of 10 years olds, let alone a group of adults. Most groups start at 15 members, then die down to 4-5 withing a matter of a month. Very few of them read the Bible. Yet, instead, they read ANDY'S books (or another book by a TBN Evangelist or mainstream pastor. Most of them are nothing more than glorified Christian book clubs. While Andy is an excellent speaker on stage, he is the opposite in person - a real introvert with almost zero personality. The church is basically an extension of him - all show, no substance. If you want the definition of a "lukewarm church" as described in Revelation 3:14-22, this is it! Furthermore, I have a friend who, after attending for 6 years, volunteering and having money automatically taken out of each and every paycheck to go to this place, decided to become a member. She was rejected on the basis that she was baptized at a young age and that wasn't recent enough. When she cancelled her offerings, they advised her that they are reconsidering. This is not a church. This is a corporation. If you are looking for a place to just meet friends and be entertained, then Buckhead Church is for you. If you are looking for a Bible/Doctrine-based Church where you can learn about the faith you seek, I advise to go elsewhere. read more

I know I may not come off as very churchy or religious but this year I've found myself attending Buckhead church and growing closer to the Lord; major life changes are great catalyst for rediscovering your true beliefs. Buckhead Church as a real positive and modern feel, complete with Atlanta's beauty crowd. I feel a little awkward reviewing a church and not giving it 5 stars out of principle but this church just didn't do it for me. My husband and I attended for about a month during the summer and the messages never seemed to click for me. It may have just been the series that we attended but all the sermons were very abstract and it was almost like they were trying to "shock" the congregation with their messages. I don't need to be shocked and wowed - I just want a good message straight from the bible. I also wasn't keen on the fact that I was attending a church where the pastor didn't speak right in front of me. If I wanted to watch a TV or monitor I could stay home and do this. It is just important for me to attend service where the pastor is live and can interact with the congregation. I may have felt differently about the church overall if I had attended the main Alpharetta campus. The production quality at the church. Lots of good music and the audo visual capabilities are amazing. If you are looking for a side of entertainment with your worship then I would recommend trying Buckhead Church. I also liked the fact that they did baptisms live during the service. The testimonials were inspirational. I don't have anything against Buckhead Church or the Northpoint Community, I just found my home at a different church. I might go back if for some reason we couldn't get to our church or if we were invited to go with friends. read more

Echo everyone else on this. I mix it up between Buckhead Church and Northpoint up north. It is labeled "church for people who don't like church" and it is true. It's about real life issues, not preachy, much different than anything you've probably been to before. The music/musicians are incredible/real pros, and being a former musician, I am very critical about this. Before discovering this place, I haven't really been to church for years. Brought up strict Northeast Roman Catholic, church gave me the shivers. Buckhead Church though, is very light, casual, and even fun at times. Go in your jeans and grab your coffee and enjoy. I like Andy although he can get repetitive at times, I preferred Louie Gigilo. Anyway, I always tell people to go check it out, it's well worth it! read more

I went for my first time on Sunday. Everyone was very friendly and that helped with my experience for sure (especially since I went alone). I enjoyed the music and the service, however I was a little thrown off because the service was pre-recorded...the music was live though. I've never experienced that before. Anyways...I'm going to give it another go this Sunday and form my final opinion then. They have a lot of different activities throughout the month, so it's ideal for people with small children, people new to town, people looking to have a closer relationship with God, etc. etc. Note: It took me just as long to get out of the parking garage as the entire service lasted. I'm going to try parking in a different location next time...maybe closer to the exit of the garage or in a lot, if there is one. read more

This is a very refreshing, rejuvenating, non-judgemental church. Their approach is very inclusive, as in we are all imperfect and all struggling to do the right thing. Most sundays they convey a very simple message about a bible passage and how we can use it in our lives today. Huge amounts of positive energy, and I know couples with kids that are actually excited to go to this Church on Sunday. Lots and lots of people have enjoyed this church and used it to connect with God and get through some huge challenges in life. I would say I have really enjoyed 3 out of every 4 services I have attended in the past four years. I think the Church struggles between conveying a message broad enough to attract people and then every once in a while reverting back to a traditional baptist church and using the Bible to strictly guide our everyday lives. I am thinking of one particular service on premarital sex which did not go over exceptionally well with the 65% single buckhead congregation. I would recommend enjoying it for at least a year before taking the second step and joining a small group, because it gets a lot more like a traditional baptist church once you get to the second level. read more

I don't own a bible. I 've been to church less than 6 times in my life, but I LOVE Buckhead Church. I've now been twice and will go each Sunday. Andy is AMAZING. Think Joel Osteen with better production value. When Andy speaks he just MAKES sense. All I know is I feel better every time I leave. So in one word, "Go". read more

I'm kind of surprised that a church would be reviewed on Yelp... but i somehow stumbled upon this after googling buckhead church, so i guess i'd share my 2 cents (for whatevers it's worth) =] well, I'm with the Pro-Buckhead Church crowd and I agree, while it's not for everyone, it's a good seeker-sensitive church and very non-threatening atmosphere. I've been attending here for the past few weeks, mainly b/c of the uber cool and convenient 6pm service which allows me, an overworked, late night Saturday worker to attend with not much trouble. C'mon folks, waking up by 5pm isn't too hard.. ;) Being that I live in Duluth, coming here is a commute for me, but again, it is convenient in that the church is located near my work place and i try to get a lil work in on Sundays (i know, i know.. that's a no-no in the Bible) I've had my share of church experiences (being born into a pretty adamant church going family) and church drama in the past (particularly while i was in California), so the non-judgmental, non threatening aura of this place really has a nice welcoming touch for me. I'm a regular member of another church atm here in Duluth, but for those Sundays i just can't wake up early enough (i know.. i need more discipline!), it's nice to know that Buckhead Church has a late afternoon service for lazy bums like myself. Some of my observations.. +the worship service is very contemporary and as others have mentioned feels kind of like a rock concert. Kind of reminds me of a Hillsong or Passion concert.. except, it's every Sunday. =] +not too intimate.. this church caters to a large congregation. I'd like to see what a small group is like, though i've heard and seen good things about em. +a good church for screw ups (again, like me) who are just trying to find their place in God's great plan. +Pastor Andy Stanley has solid messages, and good illustrations w/a straight to the point principle. (also, he has a good talent for helping forgetful people like me remember the messages.) +This is a big one.. I appreciate and like how BH church doesn't pressures or guilt trips members to give offerings. I guess this is working, as there must still be some generous/cheerful givers and/or other methods for income as there church(es) is pretty huge. I agree with Janet that it seems there is excellent stewardship of the money they receive and talents they are given. +if you don't arrive early, don't hesitate to look for seats near the front. *Bang* Roar, Clash and then silence....as my one of my kids in Waumba Land, which is the younger children's Sunday school, emerges from the destroyed block fort he has created. Its here that you not only play with the kids each but also teach them about jesus and start to really develop a bond with each child. It wasn't until getting involved in buckhead church that I personally felt connected with it. You don't have to actually Volunteer in the church, there is always Fusion which comes in cycles and meets every other Sunday at 730pm at a persons house. Another great option is getting involved in a small group via group link, the next one is in august. I personally am not a huge fan of the crazy modern music, I am a bit more traditional in my church music tastes but to each his own. I truly enjoy Andy's Messages and currently hes doing a series live at buckhead church which I highly recommend. Service times are 9am, 11am and 6pm(now coined the singles service). So come on out and check it out that is if you think you can handle it. read more

I agree...it's not for everyone - but no place is. This church attempts to meet people where they're at spiritually and help them grow their relationship with Christ and others. I never "got it" going to a more traditional church week after week growing up and in college, but everything clicked once I started going here and listening to the teaching. The church has wonderful leadership and seems to be excellent stewards of the money, resources, and talents it's been given. read more

Growing up in a small Southern Baptist church, I was a little against giving in and going to "one of those mega churches". But after attending a "Married Life Live" event with my husband and some friends at Northpoint, we were hooked and decided to give Buckhead Church (Northpoint's Buckhead counterpart) a try. Andy Stanley's messages are so applicable to a wide range of people and I always get alot out of the message. The music is great--don't go expecting choir robes and a hymnal but more of a rock concert! These people truly know how to "do worship". I like Buckhead Church's approach on small groups instead of traditional Sunday School. We have made the best of friends through our small group and meet weekly as well as hang out on weekends. Buckhead Church has definitely helped revive my spiritual life. It is where my husband and I go to get "fed", but we also still "belong" to our southern Baptist home church in Hapeville where we are starting a contemporary service. The only thing I think BC could work on is being appealing to more of a diverse crowd. Everyone in that place looks like they belong in a GQ or Abercrombie magazine :) read more

Buckhead Church has classes for birth through high school and activities/groups for college and multiple adult groups.
