Entrance on 3rd level of parking deck.
    Daniel B.

We attended the baptism of one of our friends at this church, Buckhead Church. This church is unlike any I've visited previously. I grew up going to a traditional Southern Baptist church in a small city in North Carolina, the dress code and decorum of which are fairly standard and common in across America. I'd describe Buckhead Church as a "modern" or "non-traditional" church. It is non-denominational. Attending a service here was like attending a show at a theater or going to a sporting event. There were police officers outside directing traffic. You park in a parking deck (free). Signs will lead you to where to park and enter. You enter the church from the 3rd level of the deck with a crowd of people. Once inside the building, there are several uniformed ushers in black T-shirts to welcome and help guide you if needed. Some of the ushers have headsets on. It makes the environment feel like a big show or stage production. I saw two guest services counters. There are multiple doors into the auditorium. It's kind of like a performing arts center or sports arena, but there are no assigned seats here. It's all general admission. Sit wherever you want. I wanted to sit in the balcony, but it was closed. This is a big church. I think it can be considered a "megachurch" and is on par, in terms of sanctuary/auditorium size, to another big church I've been to, First Baptist Church Atlanta. Both Buckhead Church and First Baptist Atlanta can seat about 3,000 each for each of their services. Huge. Every Sunday, there are three services at Buckhead Church: 9am, 11am, and 1pm. Our friend got baptized during the 1pm service. The baptism happened about 15 minutes in. It was a single baptism (one person), short and sweet. What was interesting about this baptism was there was a high-quality video intro of our friend introducing herself, describing her journey, and how she got involved at Buckhead Church. I've been to several baptisms and have never seen anything like this (then again, I haven't been to a whole lot of different churches either, but I've been in enough). The production quality is what "impressed" me most about this place. The production values are high. I felt like I was at a rock concert, not a church. Instead of a traditional church sanctuary, we were inside a dimly-lit auditorium with a stage set up for a musical act. There were two or three vocalists, three guitarists, and a drummer. The lighting and sound, as well as two big screen displays, was designed just like that of a concert. Instead of hymn books, attendees could sign along to the words on the screens (like karaoke). The sermon was delivered pretty much like a TED Talk. There was no pulpit. Instead, the pastor sat on a stool with a headset on with two screens on either side of him. He used one screen to display a bible verse and the other screen to display a painting that he wanted to use as part of his sermon. The pastor was young. I want to say he was in his 30s. As far as the delivery and message of the sermon itself, ehh... I'm not the best judge of sermons. I thought it was alright. Service, including the baptism, lasted an hour. The church was founded in 2001 and moved to its current location in 2007. Before they opened this location, I remember when they used to hold services at the Atlantic Station movie theater (2006-07). This current location is nice. When we visited, it was clean and looked relatively new. I wonder how much money it takes to own and operate this church. It seems like it has and requires more money than your typical church, but then again, it's a megachurch and I've only been to two. At no point were we pressured to give money, join or sign up for anything. I appreciated that. From my sample size of one 1pm service, the demographics of the attendees was younger (lots of the under-40 group) and more diverse (all races) than other churches I've been to. I saw hardly any elderly people. The staff was nice and welcoming, the men's restroom was reasonably clean (after the service, it was busy, just like after a ball game), the auditorium seats were comfortable, and the sound, lighting, and screen picture quality were great. It was easy to see and hear everything. As for dress code, there isn't really one. You have to wear clothes of course, but you can come in shorts, a T-shirt, flip-flops, and a baseball cap and would not feel out of place. They keep it very casual here.

Buckhead church is awesome! Andy Stanley is a great pastor and so are the associate pastors. They are great at breaking down scripture to help us understand the historical context and the connection to our lives and today's world. The volunter staff is super friendly, the worship leaders are phenomenal singers, and for all my germaphobes out there the bathrooms are always clean. Protip, if you really want to get plugged in I suggest joining a small group, otherwise its easy to get lost in the crowd.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Buckhead Church! I started attending in 2005 shortly after I moved to ATL. I got involved in the singles ministry and before long, I couldn't walk through the lobby without hugs & conversations from 10+ people I knew. Just in general, the greeters at the doors are so warm & inviting. The services keep you engaged and listening to the last word! This place has CHANGED MY LIFE!! if you're looking to start off 2023 in a better, more positive way - start here!

Great place. Conveniently located in Buckhead. I'm close to Georgia 400. You should check out their Easter services.

After about five years of attendance here, I can attest that both these things are true. This is an awesome, awesome Christ-filled church unlike any other church you've attended (and that's coming from someone who's attended A LOT). Impact has only been in existence for eight years. When we first starting attending, service was held in the auditorium of a middle school (Brown middle). From the first time we stepped into the auditiorum, something about Impact struck me--it felt like HOME. Being a PK (preacher's kid), I was raised in church and had become a bit disillusioned by it after some bad experiences. But, since I knew that the problem revolved around the CHURCH and not in GOD, I knew I just needed to begin a journey to find the right church home for me. Once I moved to Atlanta, that's exactly what I did. I must've visited dozens of churches on my quest; some I liked, others I didn't, but none seemed to really grab me. I also had some stiff non-negotiables that I refused to compromise on. 1)The church needed to be diverse racially, and in sex, age and sexual orientation. 2) the praise and worship team needed to be the BOMB 3) the preaching had to be more like teaching than just screaming and "falling out in the spirit". 4) there needed to be ample opportunities to volunteer in and give back to community. Most churches I visited had SOME of these qualities but not one had ALL. ONLY Impact surpassed all my expectations and gave me even more than I asked for. I felt love and warmth the moment I stepped foot into the sanctuary. Then I heard the singing and the preaching and I was in love. At first the church felt like our little secret (which a church definitely is not supposed to be) but then it got bigger, and bigger and bigger. I remember when they announced that the church had become so popular that they had to add two extra services every sunday. Then last year they finally finished their new sanctuary which is so beautiful and modern, including a juice bar/coffee stand, awesome kids play/learn area and so much more. All Impact's success is a testament to the fact that God has truly blessed them. For a church to have only been around eight years yet they house thousands per service and are settled into their own beautiful building, built from the ground-up ...and are debt-free, that's unheard of!! It takes some churches twenty years to do that and then they end up paying it off for years. I am constantly blown away by Impact's vision and drive. Pastor Olu is a young, dynamic preacher who TEACHES rather than just shouts at the congregation. Again, as someone who grew up in church my whole life, I learn something new every Sunday and my wife who didn't grow up in church also learns so much and never gets lost due to christian jargon etc. The praise and worship team is INSANE. Impact does not have a choir but I guarantee if you just stood outside in the parking lot on a Sunday morning and listened to the praise team, you would not believe me. There are usually no more than 5-7 people on stage at a time yet they sound better than some full choirs I've heard in my life. Not only that but the style of singing and the team members themselves rotate constantly so you never get bored. The church is very diverse which is important to me. When I walk into a church I like to see that it appeals to ALL people . Black, white, asian, latino, gay, straight old, young and in-between. As a gay woman who attends with my wife, I feel very comfortable there and we've never gotten a dirty look or stare. Impact is always giving to the community. They provide a small scholarship for college students, they canvass the community, they build house via habitat for humanity and the list goes on. I'll stop here because I could go on and on about how much I love this church. The only other thing I'll say is, come experience it for yourself!

Being that I have a local Church that I attend but it's difficult getting there being that the Marta Mobility and Marta transportation aren't reliable. There's been sometimes I have sat at the Marta North Springs Train Station have waited for the bus over two hours so I could go home. Last Sunday which was Easter Sunday I decided that I would try to going to a Church that's closer to my residence which I could get there riding my Mobility Wheelchair. Instead of being treated right as having " Best Day Ever " that a sign displayed on the outside of the Church said that I would. Instead, I was mistreated, discriminated and even had a church. Member taunt me and said to me that I was being unchristian. He said that to me while I was having a panic attack and my PTSD was triggered. I believe at Elevation Church they discriminate against people with disabilities, they put them in the very back of the church. Sitting in the back of the church, it's a complete trigger to me especially because I once had experienced something bad by sitting back the church. Plus, I have sight and hearing impairment sitting in the back, I can't comprehend or enjoy the service. Although several men in the church made room for me to sit up in the front where there should have a section up in the front for ones with disabilities especially ones that have hearing impairment, because it's easy to read lips of the speaker or if they have an interpreter it's easier for them. I totally felt extremely sad I couldn't believe the way I was talked to and was disrespected, I felt completely alone and that didn't nobody cared. Although they have my contact information and others have reached out to the Pastor and Church by email nobody has responded. Now , I don't feel safe to go to any Church in fear that will be mistreated like the way I was at Elevation Church. There were many ADA laws violated last Sunday and they really need to be educated on those laws and how they are in place to protect and govern individuals with disabilities and service dogs. Also, the ones who are in charge of being Ushers and Security needs Sensitivity and other trainings, especially when there's a lot of broken people that are coming to Church for to hear two words, be close to God and for healing. To treat them and make them feel uncomfortable is beyond extremely sad words. I know I will never ever step foot back in that church, and I probably disappointed in the way that they have acted . If you go to Google.com and search Lisa Groves Veterans, you'll see that I have provided Advocacy and assistance to numerous of Veterans and their families. Plus, I've been on 2 No Veteran Left Behind Driving Missions, I have never discriminate any Veteran, their families and individuals especially the homeless. Almost 4 years ago due to a botched surgery, injuries from Steroid and Cortizone injections I started experiencing numbness in my legs and feet to the point where I lost the ability to properly walk, which I ended up permanently in a Mobility Wheelchair. Which I was left on my own, I had to learn how to cope and how to live my life from a Mobility Wheelchair. I also learned that being in a Mobility Wheelchair some people don't treat you right and it's the same with me having 2 Service dogs. I pray that I will find a Church that I can go to that represents how God has instructed us to live, His true words is being preached, to be in the presence of people who are truly Christians and have the love of God in their hearts.
