I had…read morea walk-in shower temperature mixing valve that was failing and I couldn't get the handle set screw removed to inspect it. This rounded out the Allen head socket and I informed the owner about this when I scheduled. First the good. The owner scheduled me directly for a few days out, availability was good. He kept the appointment on time and communicated that he was on his way. He is competent, experienced, and licensed with the State of Idaho. He fixed the problem by replacing the mixing cartridge but had to destroy the handle to remove it because of the set screw damage. The finish quality is good. The bad: he is not totally transparent about his pricing. When scheduling, I asked what his hourly rate was and he refused to disclose that, telling me that he prefers to work on a unit price basis and gave me an estimate of $325 for the job with a $175 call-out fee minimum. When he arrived, he determined that he would have to drill out the set screw and buy a new shower kit (head, finish nipple, faring, valve handle, and valve faring plate. At that point I should have asked him what he was going to charge for the extra work. When he was done with the job, he paused, contemplating what he was going to charge me and ended up doubling the price. He did not detail the cost of materials or time on the invoice so there is no way of knowing if he marked materials up or whether he was covering time until his next job. So, if you want a competent plumber but one who may take advantage of your situation and charge a price with a comfortable profit for him at no risk, then he is your man. I was probably overcharged (on a competitive basis) but the job was only a couple of hours so it was limited in any case.

We had a very limited budget being a single-income family. Nate was able to help us coordinate resources and we had our house lifted and a new foundation put under our house in less than 20 days. Nate prioritized getting us back in our home as quickly as possible and as well as every measure possible to keep us within our budget. We also were able to get some things we weren't expecting like new siding and windows on the house which we really appreciated! The house looks like a new one now. I feel extremely fortunate that we were able to work with Nate on this project with such an unusual scope that many other contractors would not take on. Nate and his crew literally saved our home. Would not hesitate to work with him again.

Nate is very motivated and well-organized, such that he was able to build our home in roughly four months, right through the dead of winter in the Idaho mountains during a local construction boom. He is also VERY budget conscious. By carefully selecting sub-contractors and suppliers, and allowing us to do a couple of small projects ourselves, he brought the entire project in several thousand dollars UNDER budget! This includes several free upgrades such as painted exterior hardware and triple-pane windows. I would recommend Nate to anyone looking to build a quality, practical home on a budget, and on-time.

I typically like to read reviews and almost didn't contact this company because of the one star review on Yelp. But since it was over 6 years ago, I decided to reach out for an estimate anyways. A lot of other flooring companies I contacted either gave a very high quote, or didn't install carpets. Leigh contacted me and asked for the details that we knew, and based on the information I provided her, she gave me a rough estimate. After the sale went through, I contacted them again to see what type of carpet they offered and I was put in contact with Shawn. At the time we were living out of state, and did a FaceTime, but it was hard to see the true colors and feel of the carpets. Shawn and the other ladies at the shop decided that it would be best to send me some samples. That was super helpful! As we have young children they sent us options that would cover up spills and messes. I thought that was very thoughtful of the staff, and appreciated that. The samples came within 3 business days and I got to choose which one I liked the most. We were on a bit of a time crunch as we needed to do some remodeling inside the house and they were able to work with us and squeeze us in right on schedule! Overall A++ experience from start to finish

He came out to bid the project the day after I reached out to him, and he sent a bid for the service very promptly. I thought the bid was extremely competitive given the nature of the project. After meeting with Jason, I was very impressed by his knowledge and professionalism. I knew I wanted him to do the project the moment we met. Given his own personal knowledge of chickens and farm animals, I gave him my Pinterest ideas and let him run with it. I was nothing short of impressed with how amazing it turned out! We will have him back soon for all the projects that come with buying a new home! I highly recommend Scott Building Group to anyone looking for a reliable contractor.

In the contract, it said that it would take around 2.5 weeks, and in the notes of the check I wrote that the balance payment was to be $2,250. After six days of work, he abandoned the project with zero warning. He sent me a text stating that he spoke with other contractors on the job they told him about workers quitting (which isn't true) so he felt "uncomfortable" continuing to work for me. None of this makes any sense and accusations of workers quitting are completely untrue. When I hired him I told him that communication is of the utmost importance to me and that if there were any questions or doubts he should call me. If he had any issues, he did not voice them to me and it seems to me like he was offered a better-paying job so he jumped ship and left me high and dry. If you are looking for a competent, ethical, and honorable contractor, keep looking because Jason Scott is not your guy.
