The pub is clean and modern with a good selection of beer on draught and the inside seating is mainly wooden benches. In the winter there is a fantastic log fire, ideal for warming up around after a walk along the sea wall, that is if you can get anywhere near it!

All are unique. Ours was #12, up under the eaves. Ancient timber beams exposed and dormer windows giving a nice view of the cities cruise port on one side and the city rooftops to the other. Water boiler, coffee maker, glasses and fridge. Very good WiFi in the room and lounge. The lounge/ restaurant has a full bar and very nice cocktail, cider, beer, and wine selection. The dinner menu was small, interesting and delicious. The Chef went over my wife's allergy list and "revised " a menu she could order from just for her. Everything we had was excellent. Service was attentive and helpful. The setting was something we all imagined about dining in a countryside British pub.

We were warmly welcomed and our room was very comfortable and quiet. The staff is very accommodating and friendly, (as are the pub patrons and most of the city's residents!) Each of the 10 rooms is unique and the common areas throughout this historic building are attractively appointed with maritime photos, pictures, artifacts, and books celebrating the city and its shipping industry. On the first day I was there, they were just starting a 5 week renovation of the Pub and restaurant area, although I never heard any banging or work from my room. The rooms were nice, appointed in the 1950s style with minimal amenities There is no safe in the room and only a couple of outlets that are strictly European. In the bathroom, there is a towel warmer that barely heats up the towels. If you want the Air Conditioning to turn on, you need to turn it on yourself. They do have flat screen TVs in the rooms and a trouser press, but that doesn't really work. Barely gets warm. I stayed here for 3 nights and was glad when I changed to a more modern hotel. If you like the quaint hotels for the architecture and charm, then this would be great. The service was very good. The breakfast in the morning was OK and buffet style with daily specials that they can make for you in the kitchen upon request. If you want coffee, they will bring that to you and you can request a latte, and it is considered a regular coffee, so there was no extra charge, if you get the breakfast included rate. Its not a great latte, but it should do the trick.

I left him another message at 4:30 am in California (noon in U.K.) hoping the manager will be around. I was again told he is not around and "will call me back" in an hour. No call back again. Frustrated, hope you don't find yourself in this situation for your refunds.

All the food was really good and the general consensus was that it was above average for the price. We also had starters and I can heartily recommend the goat's cheese parcels. There was a good selection of drinks with a couple or real ales such as Abbot. I guess the drinks were normal hotel prices and pretty reasonable. The restaurant itself was very pleasant and the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was piping hot and served in a timely manner. Well worth a visit if you are in Fareham.

It's was fun watching but still understand the game :-) As a Diamond member, really bummed that lounge is closed and the only replacement is a drink coupon - how is that a fair adjustment?? Shouldn't it be a $20-30 credit at the restaurant? However, the breakfast buffet is quite nice, the food is very good with a great variety.

The hotel is very near the ferry terminal for Isle of Wight ferries and a short drive to Lymington itself. There's a nice pub though on the way to Lymington (called the Waggon and Horses?).
