Stayed here for one night as part of a birthday treat. Slightly weird blend of Edwardian (?) house and 70s nautical interior, which took a bit of getting used to but wasn't too scary. Didn't eat dinner there but the breakfast was great. The room was modern and comfortable although the bathroom could have done with a refurb, but it was clean.
Unfortunately there was a wedding on while we were there, and we were probably the only guests not with the wedding party. Far be it from me to begrudge anyone a great wedding reception (and it looked it) with partying long into the night, but you'd have thought that when we booked, the hotel might have asked us if we were staying for the wedding (alarm bells) or warned us about it, and also perhaps wouldn't then have put us in a room directly over the bar? Sadly not. Hence the 3 stars.
The hotel, whilst having some great deals on rooms, clearly does a lot of weddings, being a deVere Venue. So I would recommend checking when you book, to ensure a good nights' sleep. read more
