I've been tanning since college (planet beach, local shops, etc.) and am not too prissy about conditions but I like my equipment clean and the staff to know what they are talking about. Sick of the drive to valrico, I bought a single tan on a level 4 bed from south beach to try it out. The place was clean, towels were in fine condition, and the girls who work there (only interacted with 2 of them) were friendly and knowledgeable. I don't know if they changed management since the negative reviews, but this was honestly one of the better salons I've been to. I felt a little dumb placing so much stock in the yelp reviews before trying it out myself and now I have another 10 tans to get rid of in Valrico before I can buy a membership at south beach. TLDR; Clean beds, friendly, try a single tan for yourself before taking a few yelp reviews too seriously. (or driving to valrico!)

So I wanted to see what a tan actually looks like on me. Elaine was very warm and easily put me at ease. Having been to Brazil before, we talked about our experiences there and I felt very comfortable. She was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions or concerns I had. The actual tanning itself went faster than I thought and was very even and looked natural. It took about 20-25 mins. She told me the steps to take to preserve it and it was easy to follow. It's been a 5 days and still looks vibrant and defined. I am absolutely going back soon, I have my 20th high school reunion coming up!
