Review for Mockingbird & West Village locations, airbrush tanning only. MAI & HALEY are my FAVs! Mai works at Mockingbird, and Haley works at both, but you can find Haley at West Village also if that location is more your jam. LOVE THIS PLACE! I found them on Groupon in April of 2019 and have been hooked since. If "checking in" was still a thing (is it still a thing?) I'd probably be Major... As a fair skinned San Francisco transplant, I like my tans to look NATURAL AND EVEN. I have an affinity for detail, and my spray tans are no different. I'm also accustomed to ORGANIC spray tans in SF, and was SO HAPPY Sol Sunless also offers this. I use VENETIAN MEDIUM with the single or double gun (depending on how I feel that day), but if you are just going once in awhile, I recommend the DOUBLE GUN all the way- its a thinner spray of the gun and makes for better saturation, and the tan lasts longer (WORTH THE UP-CHARGE LADIES). I recommend you exfoliate & shave before you go, rinse off the next day only (no soap if you can avoid/use only on the girly parts), and use Aveeno sensitive skin body wash during your week of being tan (the formula of soap in Aveeno does not strip your tan like regular body washes do). And ask the gals about the products in front for sale- I love the NORVELL TRAVEL SIZE to help while I'm away if the ocean/pool takes a bit of my tan. I used to get sprayed for special occasions only (in SF you don't have much reason to show skin) but now that I live in warmer climate- and because its such an enjoyable experience at Sol Sunless- I pretty much GO WEEKLY. Their treatment rooms are always clean, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, fun high-energy music is always playing, everyone does there best to accommodate the time you want, and are super efficient. Booking is easy online and if you need to change your appointment last minute- as long as you don't call right before your scheduled time (rude!) they're super easygoing about moving your slot if time allows. Also if they miss a spot on your bod, or there's something you're not happy with once you rinse off, call them and tell them and they'll touch you up for FREE! How great is that customer service?? The Norvell booth was the worst tan I have ever had in my life. Results are blotchy, streaky, and there are entire parts of my body that did not get tan. I can't speak to the airbrush tan, but if you want a spray tan booth - do not come here. If I could give 0 stars I would. I'm about to have to go pay at another salon to get this fixed. read more

I want to caution anyone considering this business: there is false advertising on their website. They prominently highlight a button that says your first airbrush spray tan is free. However, when I went in for my appointment and checked out, I was charged $60 for a service that was advertised as free. I tried every way possible to resolve this: I emailed, sent a DM through Instagram, and called (their voicemail box was completely full). After seven days of calling, I finally reached someone. Instead of honoring their advertised offer, I was told that "at the very bottom of the appointment confirmation email" it states that the service isn't actually free. I never saw this disclaimer, and frankly, if the promotion is plastered on the website, it should be clear and upfront--not hidden in fine print. They refused to refund me. This is misleading and very poor customer service. Triple check before you go in--first-time clients do NOT actually get a free service despite what their website leads you to believe. read more

Worst sunless booth (Norvell) ever ever used. Pressure changes, causes it to leave drip marks. They don't give you a towel, so you can't pat down those areas. Used a hair net, but it didn't work. They also only give you 2 tiny wipes. Had the woman actually asked, "how was everything," before I left, I would told her. The whole booth was dirty. VERY VERY Disappointed!! I confirmed my apt twice. I showed up on time and the door was locked. the sign does say the door may be locked during business hours. i waited and called the main number. I was told by Bella in the Frisco location that Mai "was running 30 min. late". Since they have my # during booking it would have been nice to receive a call about the employee running very late. Mai didn't show up after 50 min. of waiting. She was WAY WAY later then 30 min. late. The apt after mine also left and said this happens a lot at this location with AM bookings. Bella was very helpful and offered to re-book me at a later time the same day. Avoid the Dallas - Mockingbird location if you have limited time to wait!! read more

This is my second time getting a spray tan from Sol and this time was even better than the first. I initially went to the Cityplace location but Mockingbird will be my go-to from now on. Mai was AMAZING...she was meticulous, professional, and super friendly. She explained everything in detail to get the best tan, and offered tips and tricks for extending my tan after. I received a spray tan, which was quick and simple. She did great! The problem is, my sister was scheduled to have a spray at 7. She showed up maybe two minutes late due to the maps dropping the location somewhere. And the doors were locked?? I read that they close early and while I was there, someone came in wanting to cancel because of this reason.. It's 7:00, they're supposed to close at 9:00. ISABEL is the REAL MVP! When I say flawless airbrush tan, I mean absolutely flawless perfection! I was and still am beyond impressed. I can't say enough good things about this place. As a lifetime "At The Beach" member (I'm from CO), I was surprised if my spray tan experience went well any time. Oh my goodness!!! My new place! I used to get airbrushed by another person, but kept getting quality issues. I tried this place based on a referral. Because, it was the same day, thier airbrush person was booked... so I tried the machine. Let me say... amazing!!! I walked out and everyone asked what color I got! The person in the front, nailed the color! I got so many compliments and it lasted more than a week! I did buy the airbrush package for next time, because they were selling a special for first time customers. I try that tomorrow. I really wish I bought the machine package, because I can't imagine anything being as good... but, maybe I'll be surprised! I pay half the price than before and so much happier! read more

I'm incredibly disappointed with this location. I've never been rushed like today and so poorly done that I had to immediately go to another location to be fixed. The tech was sweet but the actual quality was horrendous. I love Sol but I guess I'll be sticking to the Frisco location from here on out. I'm so glad Sol exists! I swear I am a better version of myself with a spray tan. It just raises my vibration on a-whole-nother level. I've gotten spray tans from other retailers in the area, and the experience at Sol has been my best. I have gotten multiple Versa tans (one in the booth) at Sol, and the tan looks amazing and really lasts. I do hot yoga regularly and I still get a solid two weeks out of the Versa. I have not been sprayed by one of the very friendly and nice women who work in the salon, but plan to in the future. I am pleased with my tan, however I was very mislead by the pricing. I was approached by many employees on social media who promised airbrush tans under $20 for new customers, so I booked an appointment expecting this price. At checkout, I did add on an extra $15 tan one time deal for new customers. However, my end payment was $101. I was charged $65 for the airbrush instead of $20, and even with the $15 added on the pricing doesn't add up. I think that $101 is absurd for a spray tan. Really would like to be refunded $50. read more

I love this place. I've been going here for 3 years now, probably 5x-8x per year. They have a happy hour special, Groupon deal, and they run a few other big deals a year. They have Norvell and Venetian which works great with my skin tone, and you can also add "rapid" so you can shower after a few hours. I normally just do the booth and haven't had a bad experience yet. All of the girls that work there are helpful and kind (especially Mai!), even when things are a mad house. Make an appt and don't be late. They do take walk-ins, but they get really busy and fill up depending on the day and time of year. read more

I was very mislead by the pricing and literally good have bought 3 or a pack at other places for the price I paid for one and she didn't tell me what I was paying for. I came because I get an email every week for half price airbrush to be like $15/$20 on Tuesday from 2-6. I thought that was a great deal considering some places and I always get rapid so I new that would be a $15 charge on top but I was okay with that! Someone when I got in she said there half price is now 4-6 which I was very confused cause even to this day the emails say 2-6 and on your website, so if that is not right then you need to change that cause to this day it's still up and I got this tan over a week ago. I called in ahead of time to book and appointment for 2 and made sure the half price thing was available and they said yes. Even after the days of my spray tan I called up there to just ask if maybe I had just got played and they said it was between 2-6 which I feel is extremely frustrating that I paid a total of $105 dollars with my lil tip cause I was so mad and told her then they need to change all the stuff that is still shown and advertised. Before the tip it was 95 dollars which is still so crazy and it just doesn't add up and the fact that if those hours on Tuesday are still being shown as 2-6 other people don't need to make the same mistake I did just for it to last the most 4 to 5 days! read more
