Kismet & Clover

Kismet & Clover

I love Kismet & Clover. They are so talented, in a non-pretentious, genuine way. One might be…read morewondering what the heck they do. Basically, they offer a few different services, including rentals (we're talking antique furniture, mismatched vases, suitcases and other gloriously vintage goodies for event decor), as well as full event design. I went with the latter for my recent wedding, and hired Jessica to take the reigns when it came to decor for my event. Working with her was the perfect amount of collaboration for me. She listened to all my Pinterest-y ideas, took note of my dream theme, and ran with it. Every once in awhile we'd be in touch; she'd ask me my thoughts on burlap and other things, and pin decor ideas to my Pinterest board. I helped with some of the crafting (but honestly not that much) and worked on my own little projects for the day. I can't imagine what my day would have been like without her and her husband! A hell of a lot more stressful, I'll tell you that much. I also really appreciated their emphasis and support for other local artists. I could have ordered a zillion things on Etsy, from artists based in the U.S. and further (which I have no issue at all with, yay for Etsy!), but Jessica opened my eyes to a myriad of local Calgary artists who are doing amazing things in our city. I was thrilled to spend much of my wedding money supporting local artists. Let me just conclude with this. I was so, so touched by the little, thoughtful details she came up with. The decor was a perfect, symbolic marriage of both my new husband and I. If you want a wedding with charming, thoughtful decor and don't have the first clue where to start - check out Kismet & Clover!!!!! I recommend wholeheartedly.

From The Newly Wed Husband Who Doesn't Care About Decorations:…read more I never would have guessed I would be writing a review on a wedding decorator, but I owe it to Jessica & crew. I wasn't involved in planning the theme, colors and decorations (cause I'm a guy and my input is invalid), and that was okay with me. My wife claims Jessica was a breath of fresh air to work with and my only concern was the price (which was extremely reasonable and WELL WORTH IT). What I experienced from Jessica's end was on the day of the wedding. Unfortunately there were some flaws in the logisitics at the venue, the space was cramped, and the venue manager was bat sh*t crazy to put it nicely. Jessica took all the stress away from my wife (and as we know, a happy wife = a happy life), and made the event flawless, memorable, and an absolute delight. I can't say enough good things about Jessica and her help. The decorations as I'm told were beautiful and full of character. What I noticed the most was how much she cared, and how much she wanted to make our day better. Thank you Jessica! - The careless husband

We met with Liz I believe in March 2015 with a lengthy wish list for our honeymoon. We didn't have…read morea wedding date picked yet but knew sometime between November and April would be the ideal time for us. Then she asked us what was important to us... We quickly learned that this list we gave her was not a wish list as we got everything we wanted and more. We told her that food was important to us as we don't drink and Jamie loves to eat. Well she sent us to a gourmet inclusive resort and lucky for us it was during the same week they were doing a Canadian Beef feature. It was some of the best food we have ever had. Being on the beach we thought would be amazing. Not only did she find us a beach front resort our room faced the ocean, it was gorgeous. Then Internet access, I know on a honeymoon it's nice to be disconnected for a little bit but we had a plumbing issue at home and fur babies that we wanted to check in on. It came complimentary to our suite. We wanted a nice room we could relax in. Our suite had a large jacuzzi, king size bed, comfortable sitting area and like I said a beautiful view. Liz made sure anytime a deal came up that applied to our trip we knew about it. She worked hard to get us the upgrades to ensure we had the most memorable experience and was always available if we needed her. She even checked in with us to make sure we were ready to go the night before and messaged us as soon as we got home. I would highly recommend Liz, being a travel agent is not just her job it is very clearly her passion!

Recently I was invited to a wedding reception for a friend. I asked if they needed help to set up…read moreanything and they did need a few little things. I show up and the people from crystal decor that were supposed to be there already when I showed up did not show up for hours after I arrived. Because of this I ended up setting up most of the decorations with a few other guests while we waited for the decor people. When they did show up the staff did very little to help. They set up a few chairs, some tables, a few decoration pieces and promptly left. There were many items missing including the number of tables that were supposed to be there. The few guests that were there to help set up some smaller items ended up setting up almost the entire venue. As well I discovered, after talking to the bride, the decoration was not what was agreed. The staff then showed up late for the reception, after most guests arrived, and did not set up properly. No tables had glasses, water, etc, as agreed. As well the staff were not dressed in a respectable manner for a wedding, T-shirts, sweats, and so on. At the end Crystal Decor asked for more money claiming they didn't receive enough even tho they poorly set up and missed many items. Recently I found pictures of the reception on their Facebook page promoting "their" work that truly was the work of the guests that showed up early to help. Overall a horrible experience with this company. If you want a event to be well decorated, on time, stress free and on budget this is not the company for you.

I am not sure if this is the same ICandi now operating at 29 Crowfoot Rise NW Calgary, Alberta…read more  She has her services advertized on Groupon and Living Social.  All communication is by text and she has a 604 area code phone number and no website other than Facebook. In February 2021, I contacted her regarding booking a cut and highlights as well as a haircut for my son.  She said she had to quarantine from a trip and I contacted her again in March to book.  She said she had been in an accident and asked if I would be able to come to her home which I told her was fine.  She then said the salon owner agreed she could use the salon in Crowfoot so changed my appointment to that location.   We were booked for a 2 PM appointment.   As we live in the SW, over 30 minutes away, we left early to ensure we would be on time.  When we arrived at the location, a man (possibly the salon owner) greeted us and told us we could sit in the hair dryer chairs and Candy was at the back washing someone's hair.  She told us she was running a little late and I said that was ok thinking it would be 10 minutes or so.  At 2:20, the lady whose hair she just washed was put in a chair to have her hair cut and she again said she was running a bit late.  I asked her how much longer she would be as our appointment was for 2 PM and she said 30 minutes.  If it took her over 20 minutes to wash a client's hair, it very likely would have taken more than 30 minutes to cut, style and dry.  Not sure what her definition of "running a bit late" is.   She said we could wait or rebook.  I said we would rebook as my son had an appointment and we would not be finished on time.  I also asked if we could do it at her home as she had said in a text she has a set up there and it would be closer to us and she said no.  She was starting to get angry and told me to go outside.  She said I was embarrassing her and making a scene which was not true.  I told her if she was running late, she could have texted me to let me know and she said she was busy.  I asked to speak with the manager and she said she was the manager and to get a refund as she would not cut my hair.  She also accused me of being a previous customer saying some one recognized me which was a lie .  Again, not true and with a mask on I don't know how someone would recognize me just by my eyes. She obviously has no respect for potential customer's time.  As it is we wasted 1 1/2 hours with drive time and waiting at the salon.  Interesting - the Groupon says there is a cancellation policy so I wonder what would have happened had we showed up an hour late for our appointment. I noticed a previous review said how rude she was so it doesn't look like her behaviour has changed over the years.  Terrible customer service!!!  She needs to take a course in anger management and learn how to respect other people's time!
