The soil quality is terrible. I appreciated that we were able to come fill up buckets and pay bulk prices, but the soil we got is all sand and no nutrients. All of our plants died pretty quickly and we've has to heavily amend. read more

Easy to set up soil delivery for backyard projects. It was a super windy day on the day of delivery and I wanted to get in touch to make sure they would deliver and ask what precautions to take. My call was not returned. The driver called 5 mins before the delivery mid morning left a VM, not having heard my concerns, and the soil was delivered as expected. I moved into my property with an acre of dirt near the mesa. Some of the land was covered in rock mulch. The following spring, I had weeds COVERING the property, even threw the rocks. After a few years of adding mulch from Soilutions, I have many native plants growing and very few weeds. The weeds that I get are easy to pull as the soil below is healthy and softer. An additional bonus is that my property stays cooler. The areas that still have rock tend to be much hotter and unpleasant in the summer. Riddle me this, Batman: How in holy New Mexico hell do all of those weeds grow in the first place? There ain't no water in the soil! This conundrum was the first of so many, many learning experiences to bruise my previously perceived Green Thumb ego, back when I bought a house with a big yard because, you know, I thought I wanted my own slice of green in the surrounding brown. I broke my back ripping up the north valley clay soils and seeded a lawn, planted about ten trees and put a big vegetable garden in the far back. I covered the rest of the dirt with woodchips. For about, oh, three months it was a lovely little haven. And then the southwest began to slowly strangle and bleed this midwestern boy, one fucking thorn at a fucking time. First it was the weeds. Most of 'em were covered in sick, painful stingers covering the stems and leafs, I needed industrial gloves just to wrap my hands around em. The Chinese Elm (technically Siberian, but whatever) started popping up everywhere, a gnarly witch that sent roots deeper than Hades, unkillable. Squash bugs, oh shit, that epidemic, I could forget about harvesting any water-filled veggie. Goatheads? Proof there is no god. Forget the lawn, seriously, you idiot, forget the fucking lawn. Want me to go on? Seriously, try me. Soilutions came to my rescue, and they continue to spell salvation for my sputtering plot o' darkness and damnation. Lesson one: the only mulch that sufficiently stamps out (most) weeds are pecan shells, which they carry. Otherwise, line the ground with weed barrier before topping it with wood chips or other mulches, Soilutions has about six varieties. Plant your vegetable gardens above ground in boxes. Use native, low-water varieties of plants (Plants of the Southwest has 'em), bury 'em in Soilutions dirt and compost. Finally, if you don't have a truck to hoist the goods, Soilutions delivers. Slowly, following years of sweat and tears, I have a yard worth pimping, and I'm not pulling up Chinese Elms anymore. This is THE resource for the unenthusiastic backyard enthusiast. read more

I'm not sure what the deal is maybe just everyone is stressed and grumpy. When I called to buy 15 cubic yards of soil/compost the guy on the phone seemed a bit grumpy. Nevertheless, we scheduled a delivery which he specifically said would be here at 10am, this was verified to me by someone else who heard the call. At 10:30ish I called and he told me oh no, I did not say that, I said sometime this morning. Not a truth. I explained that I went with this company to see how they were compared to the competition.... now I know, and the delivery fee was much higher than the others. read more

I put in 2 really long raised beds in, and they were 12 feet long. They were 3 feet tall, and 2 1/2 feet wide. So, to fill them up I needed 5 cubic yards of top soil. I called in the morning and they delivered it in the afternoon of the same day. I didn't give it the full five stars, because of all the rocks in it. It would of been fine if they were small rocks, because it was a small pile of them. Unfortunately, they were large rocks that were very noticeable! If they are selling this topsoil by weight than this is not good. Otherwise, they need to clean out their trucks if they are using the same truck to deliver rocks. Also, I found a soda can and something that resembled fiberglass. My husband was upset when he found a small amount of asphalt in there as well. Clean the trucks out is a must when someone is buying topsoil. I was trying to save some money, and didn't go with the other guy. Put extra work on us as an elderly couple picking out rocks and debris. read more
