Oh my home away from home. Wait, maybe it actually is my real home. SoHo. What can I say? I've practically lived here for the past 7 years. From my home gym, restaurants, shops, and even sights, SoHo has it all. Whether you're looking for high end clothing, or run of the mill wear, look no further. It's only a couple steps away. From old landmarks like Evolution to newer hot spots like Uniqulo, you'll be sure not to leave empty handed. For foodies, there plenty to eat here as well. From cupcakes, to sandwiches, to fine dining, it's all there. For artsy people, don't fret. There are plenty of random artists on the street selling their paintings and other works. Enough of my random ranting. You can see that this place is pretty awesome. However, nothing is perfect in this world. In SoHo, there is one most dreaded of them all: tourists. Tourists, tourists, tourists. What can I say about them? They walk incredibly slow, take up ALL of the sidewalk, and keep looking up like there's something amazing in the sky. Sure, tall building are nice, but keep it moving people. I don't have all day to herd all you cattle. Make sure to NOT do all your walking on Broadway unless you're a fan of foot traffic. Aside from all the obvious things, SoHo is all about the old school cobblestone streets. How I love them so. It's just.....hey Mr. Tourist, get out of my way. read more

You know what? I love Soho. I am 100% biased, because its my hood, but I just don't see how anyone could dislike Soho. With adorable cobblestone streets and a plethora of any variety of business you'd be foolish to hate. It still hangs on to its artist past with all the galleries, but is also home to expensive shops and restaurants that signify its new era as a trendy high rent district. What's that you say? You don't want all expensive bars, restaurants and shops? No problem! Head over to Nolita, Little Italy or China town. Its only a 5 minute walk. Looking for something in between? Head North to the West Village. Soho is so perfectly nestled between the greatest areas of the city. I think the best thing about Soho is that it feels like home. When I get up off the subway after my day of work abreast with the tall buildings of Midtown, its nice to arrive on my cute little streets of Soho. The one downside is the constant influx of tourists, but hey, I can't blame them for wanting to see the coolest neighborhood in the city. read more

Minus 2 for what it has become....SoHo, short for South of Houston, is my NYC neighborhood. Back in the day before Bowie, Alba, Kravitz, Hudson et al resided here, this place was edgy. Great old lofts (real lofts, not 'loft style' manufactured West Coast wanna be lofts), real cobblestone streets, Canal Jean and their ubiquitous buttons, Dean & Deluca when it looked like and tiny mom & pop store, and the infamous unsolved abduction of Etan Patz. In 1983 my parents purchased a 2500 sq. foot loft on Lafayette Street for under 200K- who-da thunk this location would turn into such a prime spot? I didn't see that coming.... Soho 2008, like most of NYC (except the always boring, never evolving Upper East Side) has become what it wasn't in the 70s and 80s- tourist friendly, safe and a little dull. Call me crazy, but when I want to walk down Prince Street on a Saturday, I'd prefer to not battle a bunch of bridge and tunnelers to get to Guido's for some homemade sausage or Joe's for homemade mozzarella. 2 old school joints that represent the New York I remember and miss dearly. read more

Soho is my favorite part of NY. I just love all the stores....from Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana to the Adidas.........they have all them all. The architecture of the buildings mixed with the cool, trendy urban vibe of this neighborhood really makes this an incredible place to hangout. Lastly, the art galleries, hundredes of cafes/restaurants and of course, all the hot women walking around in their high heels and boy shorts.....truly makes this area one of the coolest places to visit. Things are changing all over NYC. Bloomberg has turned Manhattan into a big freaking mall. Plain and simple. You better think twice if you f*ck with Soho. I said it back then and I'll say it again...THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD IN NYC. You don't agree with me? WHO CARES!!? I've wanted to live here since I was 17. I want the f*cking huge loft in some random warehouse next to a gallery. I want to have parties where Parker Posey is dying to attend. I want to watch tourists get lost on the cobblestone streets that DEFY the NYC grid system; Me (hanging out the window) - "You're a good distance from the Milford Plaza lady!!!" I want to have brunch on the sidewalk every weekend and just f*cking CHILL man. Where else is there that you can bask in the surroundings and take it all in? Can anyone deny that if you're hitting an evening function in Soho, you won't love it? Maybe the lifelong art student I am can only see this. I won't even think about the painful DKNY mural at Broadway & Houston GONE; replaced by HOLLISTER? WTF is that about? I want to live here, party here, dine here, die here... Shopping heaven for people who won't to drop a hefty dollar. Even though it was nice to walk around, I would not say the shopping is that great. Yeah they have affordable stores for the poor college student...like H&M, but nothing that stands out for someone on a budget. However, the eateries around here are phenomenal. I had an amazing taco from a local truck. So if you do walk around Soho...make sure it on an empty stomach! read more

So many shops but its nothing special, all the shops you'll find in your average mall here in Cali minus all the outdoor food vendors. 99 cent hot dogs for the win :) Its good to visit once, but when I come back to NYC its something I'd skip over. read more

SOHO is probably my favorite spot in NY! They have every store and boutique you can imagine. Also it has hundreds and hundreds of great restaurants and bars. The food is awesome all over. Just pull out your phone and open up your Yelp APP and you will be overwhelmed with where to eat or shop. The boutique shops are not the friendliest but what do you expect. read more

This place is almost always packed and a struggle to walk through, but there is some good shopping! The same store somewhere midtown/uptown will not carry as much, and as much of - the products they have in SoHo. You can come here with a group of girlfriend but you won't exactly be able to walk side by side. It will be a follow the leader through the crowd, looking down as to not step on/get stepped on. A lot of the non-name brand stores have good deals and meh quality , and different stores along the street with sell the exact same clothing. One of the best places in NYC to go shopping. If you get past the crowded streets, you ll come to love this place too. Plenty of inexpensive shopping, big name stores, mixed in with high-end boutiques. If your looking for something unique that noone else in your town would be seen wearing, this is the place for you. Be prepared to spend money, because you wont be able to buy just one thing. Taking the train? The R/N/Q to Canal St. is your best option. This way you can start from the beginning and work your way down...up and all over.Shop early to avoid the crowds. Avoid the weekend at all costs. Enjoy! read more

So..yes, I am a frequent visiting tourist here. I used to love coming here with my family friends (from Brooklyn) whenever there's sales happening. But alas, as I keep coming back, I find myself starting to get tired of it. I always make sure I come back to certain stores (such as Uniqlo) that for some unknown reason I know will never open in MA. You will see food trucks and street vendors on each block too. It really is both a Shopper's heaven and hell! Despite whatever sales are going, don't forget the tax is a bit high here compared to back in MA where clothes are *NOT* taxed! read more

i LOVE this part of manhattan. it has everything, cool peeps, cool eats, and cool places to hang out. it is accessible by multiple subway lines: N/R/6/B/D/F/M so you can get there from anywhere in the city. some of my favourite retailers include: lululemon athletica bloomingdale's sephora prince st pizza georgetown cupcake recently, they've added many more food trucks along broadway (and some of the side streets, i believe) so you can grab your food and continue on your merry way in nyc. i really like the cupcake trucks, a novel idea, and extremely convenient for those of us with a sweet tooth! read more

SoHo is a completely pretentious, trendy, and expensive neighborhood full of people who consider themselves "fashion gurus." You have to admit, it's beautiful though. The old cast iron buildings, the cobble stone streets, the ubiquitous shopping, the little cafes...it's a great place. One of my favorite thoroughfares in SoHo would be West Broadway and Spring Street. If you're planning on visiting New York, definitely pass by SoHo. The 1, 2, and 3 train stop at Houston and the N and W stop at Prince Street I believe. It's south of Houston, north of Canal, and west of Lafayette. Enjoy! read more

I love shopping in Soho.....but in the mornings. There's never a boring moment in Soho because there are many clothing stores, high-end boutiques and restaurants to choose from. Also, since it's a highly populated neighborhood for that purpose, there are many different types of food stands and people selling art, bags in the street. It's a great sector of NY to people watch but I personally like to avoid Soho on the weekends. There's no walking flow because there are people walking in all types of directions. It is insane attempting to walk down Broadway as is on a typical weekday, imagine the weekend? read more

This is the area you want to stay at if you want to avoid the Time Square tourist-traffic. Soho is definitely a busy area but MUCH more trendy and local. Tons of shopping and "eateries" for all your hearts desire. Next time I'm in NYC on vacation Soho is definitely the area to stay! read more

SoHo offers a different flavor of Manhattan, away from the intense and infinite busy-ness of midtown Manhattan. Here, I can take a breathe and really do some quality shopping without being overwhelmed by the bling-blings and excitement of the New York City. There are plenty of boutiques in SoHo, everything from common mall stores to high-end boutiques like Anna Sui. Only a few streets from Manhattan Chinatown and East Village and host of the famous Georgetown cupcakes, plentiful of delicious food can be found around the SoHo area. read more

It's the Dirty Old New York of your fantasies, cleaned up, filled with tourists, loaded with national and international retail stores and innumerable small, pricey boutiques, with housing too expensive for most regular people to live in, but still a great place to visit. read more

There's lots of stores to shop at in this area . It's the only place that seems alive in New York and the only place that seems interesting to shop at in New York . Too bad I didn't get to spend that much time here . Will definately be back next time to check out more of their stores . read more

how could not like it here??? the biggest problem is the tourists are all over and its sometimes too crowded. but you get used to it. its one of those places that anyone can love no matter who you are or where you come from. my friends and i would easily spend the entire day there when we were in school there, and i never grew out of it. i still love coming here any chance i get. read more

I don't understand Soho. It started out as a beacon of style and class and appears to have become o boring "nothing". Did the moneyed population tire of it like they do with just about everything else? Tribeca, even after being wounded by the 9/11 disaster, keeps looking better. But, let's face it, Greenwich Village, the lower east side and Chelsea are the places to be. This week at least. read more

Travelers would enjoy this spot in NY; It offers great shopping and dining experience for everyone. With the day I got to visit Soho it was unfortunately raining. Even with the wet streets, damp atmosphere along with gridlock traffic and the constant use of the horn (courtesy of NY Taxi) my experiences here will definitely be remembered for years to come. read more

There were the stands on the street selling jewelry, hats, cold weather accessories...I got me a ring coated with copper...except sometimes I think it makes my hand smell like a penny. Haha.
