Got tired of wearing old worn out shoes and this place came HIGHLY recommended! Got waited on by Andrew and he really knew what he was doing. We discussed what I thought I wanted and he brought out what I thought I wanted and also some shoes he recommended. He was right, I ended up buying what he recommended and after a week, I couldn't be happier! New to town and really enjoyed my visit to the store yesterday. My running shoes were marked down - bonus for me. Store assistants helpful and pleasant. Way too expensive. The employees also act weird, suspiciously as if they know everything is overpriced but still have to manipulate you into buying. They will treat you like a product. Selection was diverse enough in spite of that. read more

I live sixty miles from Soft Shoe and I try to visit at least once a month. I find an excellent selection of shoes and clothing for ladies of my age (73). Of course, some shoes are more expensive than others, however, I find that I never have a problem finding something that I like and that I can afford. They are not getting 5 stars because the prices are a little higher from box stores but you get a lot better service. I have been in there over 6 times in the past 3 months. Bought a pair of boots, wore them in the house over the weekend and they hurt my feet so I returned them. No one said a word except sorry they did not work for me. Bought another pair of boots wore them over the weekend and rt foot hurt(boot to large), took them back and got a size smaller. Wore them for about 2 weeks (30 day comfort guarantee) they started to hurt after a week and took them back. Found a Pair of boots and inserts for me and my son. This store makes me uncomfortable. Most of the people stared at me as I looked around. I haven't been here in years. They've completely changed it. Now it caters to college kids and teenagers. Didn't stay long enough to really look around as I didn't like being stared at. They really don't have anything they used to have. Now it's all fancy running shoes and whatever is popular. Graphic tee's with really lame quotes on them, over priced crap like The North Face brand. I wouldn't bother going here if you're poor like I am. My dad was looking to buy a pair of boots but they don't sell those anymore either since they don't cater to his age range or style anymore. Disappointed. read more

I am always amazed at the variety of shoes that soft shoe carries. There are several shoe stores in Lexington, however, I choose to stop by soft shoe when I am in the Richmond area because I cannot find the type of service and personality that I am looking for when I am in Lexington. I don't usually write reviews, however after reading some of these I had to comment. I am 45 years old and always get the best service when looking at shoes. The comments that say they only cater to college age is incorrect. The quality of their shoes are outstanding, therefore you do pay a little more however they are priced very competitively for the quality brands. Keep up the great work. This store use to be the best place to get s good deal on shoes. Over the past couple of years it's become more of a clothing store with a small shoe section. I love the shoes they offer but they're all very overpriced and could be found for a better deal somewhere else. The customer service is great but are all super young and appeals more to the younger crowd than others and kind of makes it a little uncomfortable for older customers. read more

This used to be the best shoe store in Kentucky - brands you couldn't find anywhere else - good brands, not cheap cardboard-like shoes, and at decent prices. Their clearance section was huge and the salespeople friendly. Now it's more like a junk shop with a nice shoe section. The majority of the store is glittery redneck-y t-shirts with folksy "Southern" sayings on them. They play terrible Christian rock music at an aggressive level. The staff is still excellent, but it's not really worth the drive anymore. read more

I love this store; have shopped here on and off since moving to Richmond in 1999. I do miss the larger selection of the old store layout but find the new layout really lovely - very open and bright. Service is wonderful and includes digital foot scans. The sales assistants are very knowledgeable, and if you mention that you just want to browse, they will leave you alone. Can't beat the selection of quality shoe brands and, yes, the prices are on average higher than in other stores but the quality is wonderful and they do maintain sales racks. Over the years Soft Shoe has expanded to include NorthFace, Patagonia and other apparel and a wide variety of t-shirts, handbags, jewelry. So happy to have this store in Richmond! read more

This is an amazing locally owned shoe store with tons of selection. They have really good brands.
