The reviews are incredibly misleading. Let's start at the beginning. The waiter was a 1 out of ten, and I'm being generous. He was simply uncaring and lousy. He forgot the wine, the bread, the menus, to ask for drinks, etc..... The couple who sat next to us left after 10 minutes once they recognized the service level. The food was a 5 out of 10. Fine but nothing better than average. The bottle of Sauvignon blanc was served room temperature. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Lastly, I tend not to write bad reviews on Yelp. This one was our worst meal in London by far, and it needed to be called out. read more

Simple, well prepared, delicious food. Atmosphere was manic. We had no reservation so we sat in the basement dining room. Cramped, kind of loud. While that wasn't much to my liking I can see that folks who like a festive and busy atmosphere flock to this place. Starters in 5 minutes, mains in 15 are guaranteed. This is my second time eating here on my annual trips to London. Last year in 2016, my experience was better all around than this year, but it is a tasty change from the many Italian eateries and pub food. For the most recent visit, I'd give a 4+ star for food and a 2 star for service. We arrived for an early dinner and it was clear that they were interested in turning our table as soon as possible. The restaurant is very deliberate in getting food out promptly which is to be commended but our service was absent and then rushed as food was served. I was a bit embarrassed to have introduced my extended family to what was such a great experience for me last time. The ambiance and feel is rather nice on the quiet streets of Mayfair. I feel like I will give it another try on my next trip based on the food alone and let the service dictate if I'll return any more. read more

We had an amazing dinner and fantastic service tonight. We stumbled upon this restaurant late on Sunday evening and had a large group of 9. Murat, who ended up being our server, saw us out front looking at the menu. Even though it was late he still welcomed us in. He gave us a spacious table and wonderful guidance on items. He brought so much delicious food to us and made us feel so at home. It was a fantastic and memorable night. Excellent service and food! read more

Consistently good, attentive service and tasty food. Lots of seafood and vegetarian options, too, and most of which are actually somewhat healthy - quite a find in London, where chips seem to come with everything. They have a set menu and some deals inside the menu as well, which makes it more reasonable, although it's not too expensive to begin with. It would be a lot nicer to sit outside under the nice heat lamps if less people smoked, but not much can be done about that. They serve breakfast, too, which I still need to try! read more

Thought this was a good place for breakfast and I found the service good. The summer berry pancakes and menemen (eggs with green peppers on brioche) were delicious and the price was reasonable. I'd recommend this place. read more

Good quality full English, very reasonably priced with excellent ingredients - Cumberland sausage, full size chunky rashers of bacon and nicely cooked egg. Coffee is filter, which always tastes a bit weak but is probably much better for you. If you go for the omelette or scrambled versions, specify well done or might be very lightly cooked, which might be a bit offputting. Very friendly and attentive staff - good value - recommended. read more

Sofra food is simple and healthy, using a wealth of aromatic vegetables and a distinctive selection of herbs and spices. Blended with the traditional Turkish cuisine will be some exciting flavours from the Mediterranean, the Middle East and even the orient. A friendly place, good service, they got us a table even though we hadn't booked. Slightly touristy maybe (but we were there on a Friday night). Food is fine, but not outstandingly so. Starters could be a bit tastier, mains suffer from being served with boring greens (broccoli - I don't find that very Turkish!). But on the whole makes for pleasurable dining. read more

Sofra is a decent chain and this is the best branch in my opinion. I find their menu doesnt caer for the winter very well - obviously the mezze are excellent all year round butnothing on the menu warms your sould when you see it on a cold day. I also find occassionally there a bit pushy with thing sthat the kitchen clearly wants to shift. But despite that it's good fun and the food is excellent most of the time. I think the best night to be in here was when Turkey beat Croatia at Euro 2008, I walked past whenthey won and it looked like the biggest party I've ever seen. read more

Delicious food! Pleasant dining room and staff. Prices are surprisingly inexpensive. The hummus is amazing and the bread is so fresh. I seriously enjoyed the mezze tasting platter which included many of the spreads. I think I'm going back tonight. read more

Sofra restaurants' are always top quality. The décor is basic but that doesn't matter as the food and service are always excellent. The food is Middle Eastern and has all the classics. Everything is cooked beautifully and the staff is always friendly and attentive. The price is reasonable too thus it is a great place to go back to when ever you are looking fro good middle eastern food. read more

We were seated quickly, received our drinks and settled in for a nice evening meal. Everything went downhill from there. It seemed like a very long time before our appetizers arrived. When our entree arrived, much later it was cold. We had to ask for our check several times, and again it took 20 minutes. There were items on our bill we did not order or recieve. Not impressed at all. Mediocre food, confused and sometimes obnoxious service. It's reasonably priced for the area, but ultimately not good value for money. If you go, stick to starters only. Mains are either tasteless, or look monochromatic and taste little better. Starters are a bit better-- most patrons order many starters (tapas style). Entering, on the table was a card saying "So-and-so is your server, and so-and-so is your manager; we offer you excellent service". (They have some arrangement with Middlesex University for work study). It started well: we were brought excellent, unique, warm bread-- and lovely hummus with olive oil. That's where the pros end. (Turns out the bread/hummus are part of a £1.50/person 'cover charge' no one tells you about). Starters were fairly decent-- including sausage. But the mains, including spicy meat pot, His Highness Favourite (okay tasting lamb pieces on top of a very bowl-of-oatmeal-ish tasteless "aubergine caviar"), and lamb meatballs, were dreadful and tasteless. The service is well meaning, but hopelessly confused- perhaps because menu is way too huge for such a small restaurant. The waitstaff are not able to answer questions about the menu or ingredients very well. Not helpful if you have dietary restrictions or allergies. It's not that they don't try -- but their answers make absolutely no sense. I don't know if they were not adequately trained, or if it was an English as a second language issue, but I heard bizzare explanations offered several patrons, who eventually just gave up asking. Their table card promising "excellent service" is a travesty. On leaving, we found they'd messed up the bill completely. When they corrected it, they actually accused us of having ordered from the 'wrong' part of the menu (we hadn't); again, making absolutely no sense. And they told us that this £1.50 'cover charge' which no one had mentioned (apparently it is in tiny tiny print at the bottom of the menu) is standard in many restaurants (it isnt). We weren't the only ones with bill problems. Two other tables also had issues-- but as they had to leave, and as the waitstaff were offering them completely bizzare explanations, they just paid up and left. We left having overpayed for an extremely mediocre meal, passive-aggresive service, and a bad taste in our mouth for many reasons. read more

Very impressed with the quality of food. Nice ambiance, definitely a good place to go have a conversation while enjoying quality Mediterranean cuisine. The only gotcha - the Turkish wine on the wine list is a bit of a gamble. But the baklava was superb! read more

Tried Sofra for the 2nd time and our experience was not good. The waiter apparently was new and did not know the menu. The food brought to our table was not what we ordered. Food was OK, but not worth the hassle. Overall I think we will not be going back to Sofra. read more

Little crowded restaurant. Has a nice atmosphere. Waiters were friendly. I had the house speciallity Lamb tagine. It was simple but very tasty. The pricing was accordingly. To conclude: if you are around it is a place to go. No reason for a special trip. read more
