9-piece mezze platter from Brexit menu
Meike B.

Tough one to give a fair rating ... I've been to Sofra before at this and other locations and only remember the food being tasty and good value. Last night's visit was overshadowed by everything but the food. When we arrived (it must have been around 10) the place was still buzzing, both inside and outdoors. We opted to be seated indoors as it was dark and getting chilly. Once seated we were ignored by staff, not even given a menu. This eventually arrived but differed from the offers advertised on a board outside. We were given the bigger "healthy menu" with a choice of 10 dishes at £10.95 before or £14.95 after 6pm which includes actual descriptions of the dishes. It was too late for a full-on feast and we were drawn in by the £7.95 for one course (£10.95 for two) offer. This menu is much smaller, both in size as in choice, but provides good value. We both opted for the main course mezze which consits of 9 items arranged on a plate. This looked like quite a mean portion to start with but turned out to be rather filling. They make a big deal about the free hummus and bread which was a welcome addition (no refills, mind). While we were enjoying our food staff started to clear the tables around us. Changing the linen indoors was relatively painless to watch as it was done quietly. But the guy folding up the chairs and tables outside seemed to be on a mission to make our conversation impossible. It took a while to attract our waitress' attention to have a look at the dessert options. These were just a list of Turkish words which meant nothing without the main menu. It took ages to get a chance to ask for more information, just to be told that most options were no longer available since the kitchen was closed. OK, we can take a hint, paid and left. There are laminated notes on all walls, with the same message also appearing in the menus, with some ramblings by the owner. They didn't make all that much sense. Yes, we probably did get our complimentary hummus and bread within 2 minutes (if we are generous and don't start the countdown until after we'd actually been given our menus - probably 10 minutes in, we had both been downstairs to inspect the lacklustre facilities ...) and drinks within 5 minutes, but this does not amout to good service. And, no, I am not writing my complaints to them directly, opting for a review here instead.

Visiting from Bakersfield, California, USA we wanted to try this wonderful place hidden in this "back alley". Chicken brochettes are tender, juicy and flavorful. The pita and hummus were delicious. The hip trendy atmosphere on this street restaurant is perfect to enjoy a rosé glass of wine. Service was friendly, nice and attentive. Definitely coming back!

S'alright. Came here with my parents. It was very cramped. I don't mind a restaurant busy but we were all stuck in our seats one seated. They just need more room or to take a table out. You felt like you couldn't breathe and were trapped at your table. Service was lovely. They have these bizarre signs at each table and on the menus talking about the server, the service, their guarantee's etc etc etc. It was cute but... A little bizzare. Also saying 'may name is on my collar tag' was a bit.... Ropey for Me... It kind of made a point of the slave labour of a waiter. (Who I always feel for anyways.) 'collar tag' made them sound like dogs instead of saying 'badge or name tag'. But maybe that's just me. The food was okay. My parents really liked theirs. Mine was decent. I felt I could have made mine at home with some ground beef, tomato sauce, aubergine and rice. But It was lovely. And at £11 the standard cost of a nice main meal. Overall.... It's okay. I'd go again.. but I wouldn't rush back.

4 stars for flavour variety and service. Not haute cuisine but great when the sun is shining. Glass of rose. Lots of meze. Great humus. Simple grilled meat rice and salad as a main course. V good value set lunch £13.

Fish over barley and lamb fillets with rice with a side of sautéed spinach.

Ah Sofra, what wonderful memories you give me. My family and I incidentally found this place around nine years ago and have fell in love ever since. It's a must visit on every trip of theirs to London. On arrival, you're served a basket of warm bread and a small plate of hummous. All the dishes I've tried I liked across chicken and beef but I always go back to one dish: the lamb fillet. Tender lamb fillets paired with rice and their spicy tomato sauce, grilled to perfection each time, this dish does not disappoint. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Not to mention the great atmosphere in St. Christopher's court, all makes for a great day or night out. Much recommended to try!

The restaurant was not the cleanest or the fanciest, BUT the food was one of the MOST delicious I've ever had. Very cultural and authentic, you can taste the ingredients and how well every dish was made.

Cold and not delicious Lamb chops

Euston, Camden Town

After a long day of walking around London, we found our way back to Camden Town and were starved…read more And it was 10 p.m. A bag of crisps wasn't gonna cut it. Enter Istanbul. Kebabs? Sure! But let me tell you...this is SO much more than just another kebab shop! I wish I could tell you what we ordered, but I can't. Mine was a stewed lamb atop hot bits of pita and slathered in their house sauce (like sour cream.) Oh good lawd IT WAS SO GOOD! Also equally delish was the hummus and pita. Service was super, food was amazing. Do yourself a favor and visit! I wish we were locals so we could eat our way through the entire menu. P.S. They do Uber Eats/new delivery if that's more convenient for you!

OMG! So much food…read more Between the 2 of us, we ordered 1 main course (iskander kebab) and 3 starters (sausages, imam bayildi - stuffed aubergine and falafel). The food was all super tasty, but we had so much leftover! Both of us had skipped lunch and were having early dinner, but we barely put a dent on the amount of food that arrived. As soon as we ordered, we were brought Turkish style bread lovingly buttered and 4 different dips (hummus, minty yoghurt, cheese and a tomato one). This itself would have been a sufficient meal for us both. The falafel came settled on a bowl of hummus. The side salad with the main arrived in a plate of its own. Service was very fast and the lady serving us was lovely as were the line of chefs we passed by on our way in and out. When you peep through he window, it looks like a tiny kebab place, but they have really comfortable seating at the back. Some of the other places we wanted to eat at in Camden on a Friday night were completely full, so we entered this place on a whim, but left completely dated and satisfied.
