I want to update my original review because I feel it is important for anyone reading it today to know how my experience ultimately unfolded. When I originally wrote this review, I genuinely believed this treatment had changed my life. Before treatment with Dr. Gertner, I felt helpless, disconnected from my body, and had zero motivation. I was only 27 years old and had been living every day with chronic neck pain, joint and nerve pain, and constant fatigue. Despite sleeping 8 hours a night, my energy was nonexistent. I had seen countless specialists and chiropractors, desperately looking for answers, but none of them could pinpoint the cause of my symptoms. After being told repeatedly that because my blood work was normal, there was supposedly nothing wrong with me, I began to feel like I was crazy and slowly accepted that pain as my new reality. Then I found upper cervical chiropractic treatment. From my very first phone call with Dr. Gertner, I felt hopeful. He reassured me that he had heard these symptoms before and was confident he could help. After my consultation, I felt validated and believed I had finally found the answer I had been searching for. At the time I wrote this review, I truly believed I had my life back. I described waking up energized and with zero pain because that was genuinely how I felt at the time. Unfortunately, two years later, my experience has changed. I am now back to dealing with constant pain--the very symptoms I originally sought treatment for. The Unabridged Review: In January 2020 I sought out Dr. Handler for Active Release Therapy due to iliopsoas tendonitis. Originally, I intended to receive 12 office visits with him; however, COVID19 interrupted those plans, and managed to get eight visits in before NYS went on "pause." That being said, Dr. Handler helped me by providing the ART treatments themselves, as well as specific exercises to be done at home. Additionally, Dr. Handler also provided cupping therapy, as well as chiropractic adjustments as part of my treatment plan. During the shut down, the exercises at home, along with the "contact avoidance" I was avoiding grabbing railings to get up and down stairs, I have experienced a more pronounced improvement in my conditions. While my issues aren't 100% resolved (and doubtful they ever will be completely 100% resolved), Dr. Handler was able to provide effective pain relief and improved mobility in a more obvious way where ART from another practitioner, as well as various injections from physiatrists failed.
