The hotel is located across the street from a large mall, which is in a rather convenient location if you need some shopping done or want to find a food court.
The hotel itself is beautiful and very spacious. The rooms are large, beds comfortable, with large bay windows with a little perch to sit on and overlook the city. The bathrooms have a tub and a separate shower which was a treat, and the toilets also are coupled with an adjacent bidet. The oddity of the room layout however is that the bathroom is where the snacks, coffee machine, and mini fridge are located, which is a little bizarre but manageable.
Few downsides to our stay however:
1. A large group of us arrived by shuttle from a cruise that finished in the city around 10:30am. However, our rooms weren't ready until well after 1:30pm, so we all had to sit in this one conference room with coffee/tea/water at table rounds. No one came in to inform us that our rooms were ready, so my husband had to go to the front desk and inquire, only to be told that his room has been ready since 1pm. We then had to share this discovery with our cruise peers since everyone was still biding their time.
2. I was working in bed and then upon sitting up, noticed a dark object skitter across the wall where my head had been. Turns out it was a massive 3-inch cockroach (I've never seen one so big before!). When my husband came back into the room a short while later, he called the front desk to switch rooms. Instead of acting very quickly, the person over the phone inquired "that is a problem?", as if he was a bit confused about our situation. Once he realized we were screaming over the speakerphone as the roach skittered past the phone, he sent someone upstairs very quickly to help us move out and into a new room. However, the poor fella who came in was surprised, and upon taking a photo of the critter with his phone, the flash alarmed the light-sensitive pest... and then it FLEW ACROSS THE ROOM. After much screaming from my part (shamefully), the attendant took a slipper from the closet and stepped on the roach. In my panic and hurry, I ended up leaving some important things behind in the move out of the room - they were nice to do a quick survey of the room after we left to make sure nothing was left behind thankfully.
Major props to the gentleman who was brave and took care of the roach. He remained calm throughout the whole process, even though it was clear he was just as uneasy and disgusted as we were. Thank you, I abhore roaches and giant flying ones are no cakewalk.
A bit disappointed that this experience occurred however, at a hotel of this caliber, no less. read more
