I was seriously impressed with everything about Sofias. The restaurant was super clean and welcoming, and the service was excellent, fast, friendly, and genuinely attentive without feeling rushed. I ordered the combo plate and loved every bite. The carne asada taco was perfectly seasoned and fresh with onions and cilantro. The red enchilada had that bold, classic flavor you hope for, and the creamy chile relleno was rich, savory, and totally addictive. Don't even get me started on the sauce..The rice was fluffy and flavorful, and the refried beans were smooth and topped with the perfect amount of cheese, just how I like them. We also ordered the margarita flight, and WOW. Not only was it a fun presentation (hello, Instagram-worthy!), but each flavor was refreshing and delicious. The Tajín rims were the perfect touch. The lavender one was my favorite! Everything came out hot and fresh, and you could tell they take pride in what they serve. Can't wait to come back and try more, this spot is a gem!

I love Mexican food. This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant food I've had in a while. The waitress was very friendly and quick with our food. I had the red enchiladas and my husband had the Chile con carne. The flavor in both dishes was so delicious. Felt like I was in my grandma's kitchen, it was that good!. We also got complimentary chips and salsa, red and green, just a bit spicy. The drinks were also very tasty. I had Sofias margarita and the watermelon seasonal margarita. The restaurant has many booths and an area for larger parties. We can't wait to go back!!!

Saw a review of this place from foodie influencer firstdatedude and decided to give it a try and so glad we did! We had the Queso con Crema (Cheese Dip) appetizer which was very good, but comes in a huge bowl. This would be enough for 6 people. We also got a half order of taquitos. Our traditional margaritas were excellent and so pretty! We love Mexican food and saw something new on the menu that we don't normally see so we gave the Carnitas Estilo Michoacan a try and ordered it with the homemade corn tortillas. We loved that dish! And whatever the green sauce that comes with the chips at the beginning is, we loved that too! There is a happy hour from 4-6 which is worth coming back for. Also, the service was exceptional!

1101 N Carpenter Rd, Modesto, CA Hidden Gem Alert in Modesto! If you're ever in Modesto, California, do not miss out on Sofia's Bar & Grill hands down one of the best Mexican food spots I've ever tried. Like, really, really delicious. Every dish is full of bold, mouthwatering flavor that keeps you coming back for more. And the drinks? So good. Whether you're sipping something fruity or classic, everything is crafted just right. The place itself is surprisingly spacious, making it the perfect spot for a chill night out, a fun sports event watch party (TVs everywhere!), a romantic date night, or even a big family gathering. The vibe is cozy yet lively exactly what you want when you're out enjoying good food and great company. Trust me, Sofia's isn't just a restaurant it's a whole experience. A must-visit. A forever favorite.

I wanted to try this place because it's right by my house. I was very disappointed in the outcome. I ordered fajitas because it's my favorite thing to order at a Mexican restaurant. What I got was their interpretation of fajitas. If it ain't broke dont fix it. The fajitas was served on a big white plate, not a hot iron skillet making the crackling noise that I'm used to and love. Not only that. It was lukewarm almost cold. Definitely doesn't feel like it was freshly cooked. Mine and my friends fajitas was the same almost cold. Now I know prices have been going up but $28 for the amount I got was way to expensive in my opinion even with today's prices. We are blessed with so many Mexican restaurant options in this area that I don't have time for mediocre attempts at what should be something easy to do. To sum it up, I won't be back. Now don't get me wrong. The food was ok besides it not being hot. But prices are too expensive for what you get in my opinion and the fajitas not being served on a hot skillet just left a bad taste in my mouth no pun intended haha

Friend took me to Sophia's for a birthday dinner. I ordered grilled chicken and it was cooked just right. Our server recommended drinks including drink specials. I ordered a margarita because of course it was a two for one day. There is a bar with many alcohol drink choices and plenty of seating room. I would recommend to others.

Staff is super nice. Sandra was super nice behind the bar. Drinks are good. Great Happy Hour. Prices are really reasonable. Will definitely come back. HIDDEN GEM!

So now was really howling it was yummy and decent experience since I was taking mom out with us too. And let me tell you, we were so happy with our service and food. The chef's are absolutely amazing, the waitress was kind and very competent. We honestly have nothing but positive things to say. I always strive for a wholesome healthy kids menu as we have two crunchy kids (6 and 3) and hate when us adults eat wholesome food and the kids menu is garbage, and let me tell you their food was all made from scratch, so wholesome and delicious. They shared a kids pizza with white sauce, chicken nuggets meal (which is a breaded Milanesa style cut up) with big curly fries that gave potatoe wedges vibes, and we had Garlic Spicy Chicken pasta which's was so absolutely delicious and full of bold flavors, my a rib eye steak meal that very well cooked full of flavor and juicy, and an adult size chicken Alfredo pasta. We were so happy, and went back the next day for lunch. This was 5/10/26... and today it's 5/13 and we're heading back there again! Highly recommend. I did think about taking pics, but I was so hungry and in the moment. Ambiance is nice and kid friendly, which we appreciate.

We were seated immediately; however, no one came to take our drink order, and we weren't given menus. After sitting there for about 15 minutes waiting, we noticed a heavyset woman who appeared to be the manager standing around talking while we were trying to get someone's attention for menus. About 20 minutes later, a server finally brought us menus. Another 20 minutes passed before we had to flag someone down just to place our order. At that point, we were already frustrated because we had originally planned to eat at the Indian restaurant next door. We even considered leaving after ordering but decided to wait it out. While we were waiting, a large group seated near the door appeared to be having similar issues. They had been waiting a long time for their check, and the same woman we assumed was the manager was arguing with them about their complaints regarding slow service and delays with their food. Watching the interaction made the atmosphere feel even more uncomfortable and unprofessional. Another 25 minutes passed while we waited for our food, even though we had ordered fairly simple items. When we finally flagged down our server to ask about the delay, our food suddenly came out almost immediately afterward. Unfortunately, the nachos were soggy, as if they had been sitting for a while, and the shrimp sautéed in butter was overcooked and rubbery. By that point, we just wanted to leave and avoid any confrontation, especially after seeing how the manager handled the other table's concerns. Trying to get anyone's attention was difficult, even though there were only a few tables occupied. Eventually, I had to walk up to the bar myself to ask for the check. In the end, we barely touched our food and left disappointed. We even stopped at Taco Bell on the way home because we were still hungry. Sadly, this was a very disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a Mother's Day dinner. On top of the poor service, the music was extremely loud so loud that it was difficult to hold a conversation, and it seemed overwhelming for families as well, especially with a baby nearby crying when the volume was turned up even more. Was extremely dissapointed should have gone somewhere else.

It had that ideal blend of citrus, tequila, and sweetness without leaning too strong or too sugary--just smooth, refreshing, and exactly what you hope for when you order a traditional margarita. The carne asada fries were indulgent and satisfying, loaded with flavor and generous portions of tender carne asada. Definitely a great choice if you're coming in hungry or sharing with friends. The standout for me was the ceviche. The green salsa it came with was absolutely amazing--bright, fresh, and packed with flavor. It elevated the dish and made every bite feel vibrant and refreshing, and it's the kind of flavor that makes you want to come back specifically for it. Overall, a great spot for flavorful food, well-made drinks, and a fun, relaxed vibe. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
