I was fortunate to connect immediately over the phone with Interior Designer Laurie Foster, who not only answered my initial questions (delivery to my far-away town? Yes. Do they carry Bassett furniture? Yes.) but also asked me for some detail about what I was looking for. This was on a Friday afternoon, and thanks to a quick email exchange after our phone call, Laurie had prepared to meet me by the time I had arrived at the store the next morning. She has made print-outs of the rug in my living room that I wanted to be in conversation with our new sofa and chairs. She helped by showing me potential fabrics, leathers, sizes, and placement of furniture, and much more. Laurie is a terrific listener, with an artist's eye and mind. We moved all the old furniture out of the room except the new mattress, which we left on the floor, sitting on the new plastic it was wrapped in. Upon arrival I asked the delivery crew if they needed me to move the mattress or lean it against one of the walls of the room so it would be out of the way. He said not to bother, they'd handle it. I waited downstairs with my wife as they put our furniture together. An hour later they asked me to come up and inspect. We noticed the mattress wasn't in the room and assumed they had moved it. After inspecting we went back downstairs to wait. One of the men approached us and asked us to sign for the job because they were done. We asked about our mattress to which he replied there wasn't one to be delivered. We explained we weren't having one delivered, that it was already here. Where was our brand new mattress? They just looked at us blankly. We explained again, and suddenly a light turned on for one of the men. He suddenly began profusely apologizing. Turns out they took it to the curb in the rain and were going to throw it out. Upon reviewing our security cam footage we could see they took our brand new mattress to their truck where they leaned it against it, one side on the road for 30 min. When they brought it back inside it was covered in dirt, soaked in rain and the new fabric was roughed up. Called Bob's and got a customer service person. Hard to understand them but they were helpful. We've been told it can take up to 72 business hours for someone to return our call and review our claim. We will never do business with this store again. Beware! Avoid their delivery service.

My family and I visited the La-Z-Boy Home Furnishings & Décor in Mechanicsburg, PA, with a very specific and critical need. My mother had recently undergone knee surgery, and I was about to have my own lower back surgery (L4-5) on September 11, 2025. We were looking for the safest, most supportive recliner on the market a chair where I could spend my recovery, as my doctors advised me to stay off my bed. The staff at the store, who were kind and helpful, recommended a specific recliner as "the best" option for our needs. We were told it was the perfect chair for someone with mobility issues and a recovering back. We paid $2,649.98 (original list price over $3,100) on August 3, 2025, for what we believed was a premium, safe, and reliable piece of medical-grade furniture. The sales ticket number is 316-45518, and the store address is 6390 Cartisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. The delivery and installation went smoothly, with the team ensuring everything was set up carefully. But the problem isn't the staff or the service; it's the product itself. Just days after my back surgery, while using the recliner as intended, I tripped and fell backwards twice. The chair failed to support me and became a hazard. The immediate consequence of these falls was devastating: my post-surgery pain, which was already significant, spiked to a 10/10. I had to contact my doctor immediately, who increased my medication and scheduled an urgent follow-up appointment. This is more than a quality control issue; this is a safety hazard. This chair is absolutely NOT suitable for anyone with a back, knee, or any kind of mobility issue. It is a dangerous piece of furniture that should not be marketed to or recommended for individuals in recovery. My biggest fear is that this dangerous chair will be returned, refurbished, and sold to another unsuspecting person who needs it for medical reasons. This is why I won't return it; I wouldn't wish this pain and betrayal on anyone else. This chair is a liability and should be removed from the market entirely, or better yet, sent to a landfill so it can't harm anyone else. La-Z-Boy is a massive company with a reputation built on comfort and quality. They need to address the safety standards of their products immediately. My physical and emotional well-being has been severely compromised, and I deeply regret my decision to put my trust in this company. I am now looking at alternative options like the Titan Otamic 3D LE Zero Gravity Luxury Massage Chair from Sam's Club, because I no longer trust La-Z-Boy to stand by their products or their customers' safety. I am in agonizing pain as I write this, hoping that my review can save someone else from the same heartbreaking experience. If you are considering a La-Z-Boy recliner for any medical condition, please, look elsewhere. This chair is not the solution it's part of the problem.
