The homeware floor is big as well with quite a decent range of kitchen utensils which is nice because a lot of stores skimp on things like this. All in all the store is nice and bright, it can get a bit congested on the escalators and in the lobby though so be careful.

THIS GAL!…read more I am going to work on the idea that you haven't ever been to IKEA before and give you the full roundup of the fun that awaits you on your first trip... 1) Parking. Parking at IKEA is a nightmare, especially if you go on a weekend. As a top tip; get there for opening. You should be able to find a space relatively easily and don't have to play the "round and around" the car park game. 2) Confusion. Don't get confused! Yes, a lot of stuff is pre-laid out into rooms as little slices of an ideal home, but you can still get the goods which are on displayu... that just comes later! 3) Bags. I would thoroughly recommend taking yourself some large bags from home if you want to avoid buying their gigantic "builders sand" style carriers. If you are purchasing furniture (which is another battle we will come on to), it comes in a box which you can pop straight into your car. If you are buying bigs and pieces, take a bag or two with you. 4) Small Items/linen/kitchen goods. Right... Don't panic about not finding what you want when you are walking around the room layouts... Everything becomes clear when you get to the marketplace. These areas are split into bedroom, storage, kitchen, bathroom and other areas, so if you're looking for something from a particular room layout you can find it here. 5) Furniture (the biggie). After the marketplace is the warehouse. This can be really daunting but the staff will be happy to point you in the right direction if you have noted down the name of the item you want. Be warned, some of the boxes will be very heavy (remember to bend with your knees). Last but not least... Food! There is a cafe and fast food stand in this IKEA store where you can buy everything from cute Swedish cakes to hotdogs (for a bargain £1). If you have an IKEA family card, you can claim a free coffee and tea in the week too! In summary... A first trip to IKEA can be stressful, but the staff are helpful and the prices are great for the product choice. Take a good look around as you never know what you might find (it's impossible to do the whole store in less than an hour) and don't forget that you can visit their little food shop at the end! This stocks a great range of Cider, frozen food, snacks and cakes!

It really is an Alladin's Cave slightly off the beaten track but they have been around as a family business for over 30 years so they know what they are doing.

I know this for a fact, as I've been to IKEAs in nearly every western European country and USA! "Why?" you might ask!? Because it's so much fun! And I can Always rely on a scrumptious and affordable meal in their cafes! This location is basically the same as all the others, but in my opinion it is much larger! One of the biggest buildings in central Coventry! It has 3 floors of parking and 6 or more floors in the building total! Your main starting point is on the floor with 'showrooms'. You can find this floor via the 4 massive elevators from the parking garage. Once you manage to make your way through that, the next level down is smaller individual items for sale, like kitchenware, bedding, storage etc. Then the final level down is the massive warehouse of huge items in boxes to buy. I hope you wrote your item # down somewhere or took a pic on your phone, because there's never many people on this floor to help you! Before the check out, be sure to stop by the discounted area. These are the items that someone returned, partially broken, or old showroom furniture. The checkout queues are usually a bit of a wait, but this location has a self service area if you only have a few things. I suggest eating at the cafe before you shop. At this location it is located on the top floor, near the toilets, and conveniently before you begin with the showrooms. Sometimes I get carried away that after shopping I have so much stuff my trolley won''t fit in the cafe seating area. If that happens, put everything in your car and head back up. (Hassle) The cafe offers a wide selection of full meals at very reasonable prices. And desserts, drinks of all sorts, etc. There is also an area for nursing and a small kids play area. Coventrys IKEA won't let you go home hungry! They've even got a second smaller cafe down stairs on the groundfloor, and another quick one after the tills! Also after the tills is a small geocery store with packaged goods to take home and make for dinner. And don't feel bad about dragging you little ones through the place for a couple hours... because there is actually a daycare center here to let them get off all their steam! Tips and Tricks: Join the IKEA Family card program to get a free type of insurance on faulty products. This card also gets you free coffee or tea any time of day... and discounts of select main courses. It also allows for you to know about upcoming events. Last but not least, scan your club card receipt after every shop for a special spurise! Use the loo before you shop, because once you're in the IKEA "maizes", it takes quite some time to actually get out! Allow yourself enough time to lose yourself in the creative mindset of what your potential home or office space could become! This is a creative space! Coventrys location allows you to validate your parking ticket after shopping. Also if you enter your car around the secret back side entrance, you can save some time and park on the ground floor. They had a really cool series of bunk beds and sleeper couches too. Their showroom is large, and they clearly keep a certain amount of stock in the back. So if you're like me, when you want it, you want it now, and you could probably take your purchase home provided you have a great big truck to take it home in. Otherwise, just opt for the free delivery and you'll get it in a few days.
