If you want poor customer service and a less than optimal bedside manner, you need to go to Soderstrom.
I had a 1045am appointment. I showed up 20 minutes early to ensure I got all paperwork filled out, etc.
I noticed there was probably a dozen patients in the waiting room and thought, how many doctors work here?
At 3 minutes after 12 noon, i was called to go to the exam room.
I waited in the exam room about 13 minutes (yes, I was watching my watch), before the nurse came in to get vitals, etc. 5 minutes later Dr. Soderstrom came in.
He brought a Physician's Assistant with him. He was apparently teaching her the ropes. I was not asked if it was ok if she came in or used my time for a teaching session.
The nurse and PA were friendly, nice. Dr. Soderstrom was cold, distant, almost gruff.
They had to do a biopsy. I asked for some medication until the biospy report was back. Dr. Soderstrom said that he couldn't do that - which I understood after thinking about it. I'd need to wait until the biopsy was back and I could find out about it in my next visit.
The first time they could get me in was 3 weeks. Please understand that one of the possible diagnoses was a rare form of skin cancer. I was a bit unnerved to say the least. I figured there wasn't much that could be done except to wait.
The waiting room was comfortable but you can hear every word the front desk folks say on the phone and to folks that walk in - there is no privacy here at all.
They have a large sales area, which is ok, but I think they might have thought a bit more about patient privacy and less about selling product.
I called around when I got home and was told that the biopsy shouldn't take 3 weeks. I called the head office and asked that they send me the biopsy report as soon as it was available (which turned out to be a bit over a week).
I was told that on my second visit, I would only see a PA. No disrepect to PAs but I thought I might have cancer. I didn't want someone new to the job. I wanted a seasoned doctor.
I got the bill for the services provided and found that they were VERY expensive.
I recommend you stay away from Soderstrom.
I went to another dermatologist who said I didn't have cancer and who couldn't understand that even as an option. He gave me an ointment ($18) and the condition is now nearly cured.
