My grandson found this place while staying in London. We popped in for Easter brunch in the afternoon just before 130 pm. We waited outside to be seated, and someone came out and asked if we had made a reservation. I was disappointed because I was thinking they were going to turn us away, however, the host said we could eat branch as long as we wrapped it up in about an hour because he had someone else coming in for a reservation.
We decided to try the place because my grandson noticed it had very nice pictures of the food and good ratings. It was a good 10 to 15 minute walk from our hotel, which was nice in the morning as a day was getting started on Easter Sunday. I was surprised by how busy the streets were considering that Easter is a very celebrated holiday at home with family.
After we were seated, we ordered a latte, Nutella, pancakes, with fresh fruit, and an avocado toast, with pancetta, tomatoes, and roasted peppers. The avocado toast was made with organic sourdough.
The food here was absolutely delicious, I mean compliments to the chef for a job well done! The food was delicate, not too salty, nor too sweet, and the fruit tasted like candy. The avocado toast came with a poached egg on top, and it was the most perfectly poached egg I have ever had in my life it was the egg was thick and the yolk was soft and creamy, almost buttery. The toast was drizzled with truffle oil.
The latte was quite delicious. It was the perfect blend of steamed milk and espresso. It was so good it did not need any sugar. The only thing I would ask for if I get a latte again, is that the milk be steamed a little longer so it's hotter. When I got it, it was lukewarm at best. But, you will see how creamy and glossy it looks in the photo.
If I'm ever in this area again, I will definitely go back to Sociale Café. Next time, I will make reservations! On that note, I am forever, grateful to the host/owner, for allowing us to indulge in our Easter brunch!
Are a meal was just under £50, which is typical for the area.
