I waited half of my time outside the building. Someone had brought a little fold-up chair with them and that was genius. I was very cold and the wind had no mercy. Glad I had a coat. Arrive before opening if you're walking in. I got there at 8, the parking lot was full, and the line was halfway around the building already. Be sure you've got all your correct documents. You don't want to wait at least an hour to get in, and then have to leave (or scramble to get the correct hard copies as I heard some folks doing in the lobby). To get a RealID, the process is this. They direct you first to a QR code to sign in and get a virtual place in line. Then they check to be sure you have the right documents. You're allowed to sit down after this. Next you have to take the vision test, which is very quick, and then when your phone tells you you're up next, they direct you to a little maze of cubicles to get your photo and other details, pay the fee, and voila! You're done. Everyone I came into contact with was professional and kind, and moved things along as fast as they could. If I had to do it again, I'd try to get an appointment and skip that 50 minutes of shivering outside. But honestly it was much better than I expected.

I tried over 20 times and it kept coming up "blurry". So I called and they sent me a confirmation code in the mail to use. I called back after I received that and the guy at SS office said he couldn't help me and to call the login.gov help line. Went in this morning just before noon to renew my vehicle license tags. I had al the needed…read moredocuments and pulled a ticket number when I walked in. #18. They weee showing 11 on the board. There were 4 workers that I could tell and they were processing through the customers quickly. I only waited about 10 minutes and my time at the window was less than 5 minutes. Friendly service. Efficient service. I always feel the same when I leave, relieved and impressed. I have never had a problem here. Two thumbs up!!

That said, the Westport branch of the county clerk made the experience much less painful for me today. I walked into a ticketing system, plenty of spaces out semi-comfortable seating, and a less than 10 minute wait. Not a bad start! I had a variety of things I needed to get done at the county clerks office today - new yearly car tags, an address change, and a ghost registration of a vehicle that no longer belongs to me to get taken off my record. Needless to say, I was not the 'easy' client on this trip. Shaun helped me get everything situated and we even commiserated over car fees and taxes. Hard to stick it to 'the man' when 'the man's' representative agrees that this is a painful process! I can't give 5 stars, it's the clerks office and I just can't bring myself to do it. 5 stars would have been avoiding this trip altogether and I didn't quite get to do that this year. But I can stand behind 4 stars for low wait times, comfortable spaced seating, pleasant personnel, and especially Shaun who helped me through the process and got me back out the door quickly. Quick and friendly!…read more No one *wants* to take time out of their busy day to do the dumb, boring, annoying, Have-To-Dos when all we reeeally want to do is get done with work and get to the relaxing, happy hour, Want-To-Dos. But every X number of years, a person needs to renew their drivers license. UGH, amirite?! So, you want to get it done as quickly and painlessly as possible. As it turns out, this location (downtown, near the courthouse area) is close enough to my office that I can walk there if need be. Which is good because I don't also end up having to pay to park when I already pay to park monthly somewhere downtown. I could also go during a normal break at work, at any time of day, rather than having to fight with traffic at rush hour or after school times to get to a further out location. I was also able to get here right when they opened for the day. So I was the first person in the door. The building is older and the A/C doesn't work great, but the woman working was still pretty pleasant and friendly. I was in an out in no time! In fact...I left my desk at 8:15am, and I was back at the office and in my chair with my renewed license in my hand by 8:50am. Not too shabby!

Entire staff here is super friendly and very helpful. I had to deal with my stupid bank taking almost 6 months to send me my title (moved from Nevada to here and it's a whole mess of title holding state vs non title holding state) Each employee that helped me with out of state vehicle transfers took 30 minutes or less from start to finish with transferring title and handing me plates.

Believe it or not, the website instructed that I should print and fill out a "form requisition" (which was online) and mail it in to get the other form. When I read that I had to look over my shoulder for a hidden camera. Since the deadline was approaching, rather than trust the timeliness of both the USPS and the Kentucky Revenue Service, I marched down to this office to see if they could hand me my needed document. Did they have my form on hand? Of course not. How would the bureaucracy feed itself if they did that? But a very kind worker bee gave me a post-it note and told me if I wrote my name and address on the form, she would make sure it got sent quickly. Sure enough, my desired form (the correct one!) arrived in two days flat. Efficiency in the midst of chaos! A gleam of competence in a sea of WTF! The little stuff does matter.
