I stopped by to ask about making an appointment through the website or phone. I'd been told it was required, so I wanted to confirm. But the security guard's response was completely unacceptable - he was extremely rude, with an attitude tone that sounded like he was scolding a child. There was no courtesy or customer service to speak of, just unfriendliness. As a taxpayers, we deserve better from government employees. If you're having a bad day, stay home! I could not make an appointment to do my perk interview they refused to do it over the phone . So when I come in and I wait 3 hours they said there's no one there to do my perk appointment but they made an appointment for me to do whatever the phone which makes absolutely zero sense . My person that took care of me though was kind patient . The security guard a man in his 60s was nasty rude yelled at me twice why he singled me out I have no idea I'm a 60 year old woman with a cane and obviously in pain . Healed at me twice and I told him I do not have the volume on my phone look I have it on captions and then he just stood over me and stared at me . There's something really wrong with that man. Everybody's on their phone no one had their volume on for what I could say so why he came after me twice is beyond me but it's pretty scary when you get verbally abused and yelled at by some bitter senior citizen whos yelling at ppl who are DISABLED, SOME OF US MENTALLY & PHYSICALLY. It took 2.5 hours falling in line to update my documents for MEDICARE enrollment, not good for Seniors, they won't let you in due to limited seating inside, most of us have to wait standing up on the strip walkway for an hour before we were able to get in, then you have to check in to get a number then have to wait again for your number to be called which took more than an hour. I did signed up on line but it did not work I have to bring my Passport for verification this verification could be done on line if the Government (SSA) wants to, but the SSA won't do it that way, what a waste of time waiting 2.5 hours just to show your Passport which only took a couple minutes, hated it how this process of applying for MEDICARE was handled. My advice, bring an umbrella for sun protection or rain because you will be waiting a long time outside, also some bottle of water to drink. Good Luck to all seniors. read more

Got to the office a little before 1 pm on a Monday. Waited 30 minutes in the heat during the middle of July. Expect a lonnnnnnnng wait once you get inside as well. Also be prepared to have people in line behind you pulled out of line and seated inside. I was fourth in line outside and multiple people were pulled to go ahead of me inside. When I finally got into the waiting area and after 5 minutes I had to ask about check in. After I got my "ticket" another wait Inside shuffling chairs. It took 2hrs and 20 minutes of waiting to see a government employee. It took all of minutes at the window to complete the transaction. If you are coming for a simple, free, name change -- be prepared to spend ALL afternoon. read more

I was in and out in an hour and a half which I feel like is pretty standard for someone going at 11, which is why I gave this office 4 instead of 5. I mainly wanted to write this review praising (I believe her name is officer V.Shaw). There was an incident where a woman was told multiple times to get her children off of the floor and out of the walkway. Officer Shaw kindly offered her two seats, in-which she turned down. She finally told her a third time, each time the woman got more and more verbally aggressive and officer Shaw kept her composure, even reciting a law stating that if someone is being a nuisance, they will have to leave the building. Finally the woman left on her own after continually talking crap and mumbling insults. This is a job where patience is required and let me tell you, she's a better person than I am because I would have lost it. We need more people like her in federal offices. read more

I'm not sure why this location gets such negative reviews as I had a pretty normal government office experience. Yes, there is a line outside the door at times, but that is due to seating availability. T. Clancy, the security officer, let's people in as seats become available...makes sense to me. She has the responsibility of maintaining order and keeping down confusion. Yes, she does call you out about ringing cell phones, but I understand the reason. You cannot hear your number being called if there is too much going on. Also, the reps are very efficient, but Social Security is a very serious matter. I went in for a name change and she was asking me questions that made me think one wrong answer and I'm going to Central Lockup. I spent two hours in here and it only took five minutes to change my name...that's the government for ya! read more

I was very pleasantly surprised. Arrived at 8:45 (office opens at 9 AM), stood outside for approximately 10 minutes, was ushered in at about 8:55, received a number, sat for maybe 10 minutes, my number was called and the lady fixed my issue in less than two minutes flat! She was friendly, fast, efficient, and I was outta there by 9:09! The only caveat is that they don't let you bring your coffee inside. :( This SS office is very organized and efficient!!! read more
