HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!!! Call 1-877-669-3115 to make an appointment and ALL will go FAST. No more Line to kiosk to line to window to waiting ALL DAY. All the folks there were MUCH more kind and friendly. Two lines only, one for those with appointments and another for those needing to make appointments. I still recommend doing as much online as possible but if you must go then make sure to make an appointment. The parking remains VERY limited so be warned. read more

The two Vietnamese dudes that work are complete idiots that don't know their own procedures. OFFICIAL from the SSA.gov website states: Correct Date of Birth To correct your date of birth, please provide one of the following documents: Birth certificate U.S. hospital record of birth Religious record established before age 5 showing age or date of birth Valid passport Final adoption decree showing the information was taken from the original birth certificate Tribal identification card I brought my VALID PASSPORT and these two guys said no. Literally saying the opposite of what the GOVERNMENT WEBSITE says. Literally makes no sense. Says I need a Birth Certificate to correct my date of birth. The website says you can use a passport. YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE when you apply for a passport in order for records to match. Wtf are these idiots even on about? They need to get fired. If you can't do your job right then don't work there read more

I had the best experience here helping my mom with her ssa application. I was literally in and out. Please be overly prepared with your documents and just give them what they actually need. The parking a bit small. Pleas make sure you greet the staff including the sheriff's there. read more

First of all I apologize for what I am gonna say below 1. When I first come to the office they didn't serve me and I have to schedule an appointment and coming back another day -) that's ok with me 2. My appointment is on April 16/25 at 10:20 but when I check in they told me my appointment was changed to 12:30??? Without me noticed??? 3. They serve everyone coming after me even without an appointment that's ridiculous, so what is the point of making appointments then??? and I waited until 12:40 to be served, I thought it will be different but the guy serve me was the one serving others customers with our without appointment. So why they f-ck I have to waited so long for just a simple response you need this and that and you need to schedule another appointment. What a shitty place and the ridiculous about the way they do their job. Waited almost 4 hours for nothing, what a waste of time. I don't recommend this office for you all if you do not want to waste your time read more

The lady who assisted me on the window was not friendly , she seemed annoyed when i asked questions that im not even done talking she butted in right awsy. Then calling for appointment took me 4 hours to wait to talk to the an agent. read more

The Security guy at the door was nice and friendly. Glad he was there since this place has homeless and shady people. Chung helped me out. Very nice, friendly and professional! I had made an appointment on line, checked in, sat for 5 minutes and my name was called. Chung said I was early so he decided to connect. That was the fastest service I ever had with an appointment. I found parking right away. read more

Had the worst experience coming to this location, one of their employee named Kenny Gatlin was extremely rude while I was making an inquiry regarding a status. He talked to me like the way he would talk to his own children or family member with utmost disrespect. I was the one who needed the information, he refused to allow me to assist my elderly parent, yelled at me to go leave and wait in my car in front of many people and most specially with my elderly parent who I had to ask to come along so they can fix the mistake that should've been corrected the first time we came to get that done. I sent many complaints, in person and in writing, I still have not received any feedback from their department. read more

This is the absolute worst location you can go to. avoid at all costs! I waited in the non-appointment line for two hours just to check in. They closed the window for the non-appointment line because the employee went to lunch and then when she got back from lunch, she opened her window to only take the people in the appointment line. None of the other locations operate like this. Just to check in you should not have to wait in line for hours standing up. read more

quick, easy process. Mr. flores at window 2 was very helpful, and had us out of there within 15 mins! clean location as well.

Posting for other newly named people so your time doesn't get wasted like mine did this morning! After applying for social security benefits online and waiting three months without a response, I visited the Garden Grove office on February 10, 2025. With the help of a Vietnamese American staff member (I forgot to ask for his name) and Mr. Manny Zaragoza, my application was quickly retrieved from the internet team, reviewed, and approved within 30 minutes. I received my benefit notice the next day. I appreciate the efficient service provided by these SSA officers. Kudos to these exemplary public officers! read more

This place is horrible. They gave me a number to call to make an appointment that would ring and ring until finally it would be my turn but they would disconnect me as soon as it was time to answer. So I decided I had to just wait in the 3 hr non appointment line just to make an appointment. Which is ridiculous because they have you standing there for 3 hrs straight with no chair. Even elderly people are left they're standing and suffering. Finally got an appointment for exactly a week later. (Soonest appointment for an emergency. They said it was a courtesy) I lost my appointment paper so I went into the appointment line on Friday to ask if they can check when it was for me? So they asked is it today ( it was Friday) I said I think so or it's on Monday. Can you please check. He says okay types my info in and goes no appointment today. I said can you check Monday? No. You can wait in that line (points to the 3 hour non appointment line that I can wait and stand in) NOPE I'll just be here at 9 am Monday. Thank you! read more

I went in today to request help in changing my last name to my husbands. I presented my marriage certificate and ID to which she said I couldn't change it because the bottom portion was not filled out to havebwhat my new last name would be. I asked how can i by pass that i mean i've been married several uears just never went in to change the name and I asked do they pick and choose who they help because my sister in law had gone a couple days before and was able to change her last name without having that filled out. All she said said was 'Well the other rep don't check this box but I do! Take it as a sign you shouldn't change your name' read more

Yelp Challenge 2015. 335/365 We are a staple for badluck in my house. I have multiple stories of bad luck. Stuff that is hard to believe. A few years ago my husband had a car fire on the way to Vegas. As he exited his car, what he thought was his wallet was actually his cell phone. His wallet with the SS card burned to a crisp. I've been bugging him to replace his card. I drive by this office daily on way to work. I even stopped by ahead of time to pick up the application. Well he never went. Fast forward, I filled out the application online, had him sign it, and we went. So you need legal proof of citizenship and ID for a card. His USA passport and drivers license were all he needed to get a replacement card along with his application. This location seems less busy than the one in Anaheim. Located off Gilbert and Chapman. There are 20 windows but only a few were open. You still get to have the pleasure of waiting. Luckily we waited about 15 minutes. I am sure this is NOT the norm. But it was a holiday week, which explains why it was empty. We were assisted by a kind gentlemen who made the process super easy. Seating area has padded benches. One is back to back which gives you close sitting quarters with the people behind you. Plenty of parking and overflow parking in the Walmart lot. Just be cautious, lots of speed demons exiting quickly. Just beware, super crumy hours...9 till 3ish and noon on Wednesdays. Found out the hard way. Plan ahead and check site for hours. That way you don't make a trip for nothing. Security is helpful, tells you to check in, get a ticket and answers questions and sends you where you need to be. Assistance is available in multiple languages. My only complaint is the smell inside. Has a funky scent that reminds me of a hospital. And it is super duper hot inside. #808 read more

Nice staff and quick service, took me about an hour waiting time, but it wasn't too busy compared to other government buildings. Clean building read more

Waited almost an hour, and only 2 numbers were called! Do they all take their lunch at the same time?

If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. I was calling today to get some information on a renewal process over the phone, because there's no other contact method aside I guess from coming physically to be the building. However, I was told the wait time would be 3 hours on the phone. I've left the phone on and have been waiting for more than three hours. I've attached a screen shot and one can see on the tracker the timer. I am sure they are going to be closing in 12 minutes as well... Edit: I am frustrated, but glad to report in a sad way, that after 3.5 hours, someone picked up. Phew. It's almost like a drive to Vegas read more

I wish yelp created 0 stars or negative stars . . . I waited 3 hours for something I couldve waited by the window to pick up a copy of verification for my grandfather. The fact that the security guard kept repeating himself by telling me "theres a line to get a ticket" in a rude manner was uncalled for. I can see where the line is and I can see how the system works but they wouldnt let me finish my sentence so . . . I wasted 3 hours for nothing.. .. The workers behind the window . . . If you DO NOT like YOUR JOB because youre HELPING people.. Do us a favor and quit or find a new job buddy. I couldnt tolerate the rudeness and having no manners come out of their mouth. I understand its a monday and a lot of people wants to get their work done fast but dont be mean.. . . Have some patients. . . All I can say is, come early so you dont have to deal with angry workers. . read more

The security guys are very chill and nice. They will help and guide you to check in and hand out masks for those didn't bring it. I went and got in line 30 min before the office open and fined everything by 9:30. Advice for people thinking of coming here: either come and wait in line before they open or just book an appointment. Don't bother to wait in line after 10am. The older security guy told me the morning wait is lot shorter and quick. read more

Came here to correct my name. I tried to call forget it. So I came into the office, the wait was ridiculous. It was not even that crowded.

I booked an appointment with this location over the phone. I was speaking to an asian lady, I believe Filipino. First of all, she put me on hold for 15 minutes, then I told her I need a new SSN card and need to come in for an appointment. She said she needs to look at her calendar. She took another 5 minutes. While on the phone I told her "WOW IT ONLY TAKES ME 10 seconds to check my calendar" I guess her intelligence or lack there of, got triggered so she gave me a fake appointment time on a Wednesday at 2pm. I overslept on Wednesday and I missed my appointment. No worries though I checked the website and they are closed on Wednesdays at 12pm. LMAO are these workers so pathetic they give put fake appointment times as petty revenge? This person is absolutely pathetic lmao I did everything online and got my card in the mail already read more

Prior to coming to this location, I called beforehand to make an appointment for Card Replacement. It was a 10 minute wait over the phone & surprisingly got scheduled 2 days after compared to other SSA office that takes forever to pick up & won't take any appointments and would rather advise you to drop off documents. I would say I got lucky going to this location, it was not busy when i showed up. The security guard was kind & helpful & directed me to proceed to Window 2 for interview. After submitting the required documents, couple of questions & sworn statements, I was informed my card will be mailed in 2 weeks. Overall, I was done in 10 mins. i couldn't be more thankful to the Asian lady who helped me with this simple transaction. She was kind & respectful all throughout the process. I believe she's the same person who scheduled my appointment. Kudos to her! read more

I'm not the best judge for going to a Social Security Admin Office, this is only my 2nd one, but I can say this was a LESS painful experience than I had thought. Pros: 1. Free parking! Unlike the one in Santa Ana or any downtown area, you can find close & FREE parking. -When I got there 20 mins before they opened, the lot was full and jam packed. So..*ahem think of some creative way to park your ride. Those of you who've been here know what I'm talking about. 2. Although there was a "black friday" like line before the office opened, the line went surprisingly fast. There is a security officer who stands at the front entrance and pretty much took the guess work out of being new to the Admin Office. 3. Crowded room but plenty of seats. Win! 4. A huge crowd but high turnovers. Win! I will definitely be back to this location if I ever need it. Muy bueno! read more

Oh Lord I wish I could give this 0 star!!! Waited for like an hour to be called when having a ticket!! Seriously??? Not everyone is that FREE to spend whole day depending on other stuff to have their stuff done! Unbelievable! They have a number to make an appointment and it was such a stupid thing when I called and was reponded that "it was not available to make an appointment at this time"! Is "busy" and "overload" always an excuse??? Cant stand waiting on receiving nothing from this !!!! Be consider and be sure you have a whole day (min 2hours) doing nothing when asking for help! It'd be better if individual can handle themselves. Such a meaningless time of waiting ever! read more
