Had to visit the local Social Security office this week - and I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the process was. I was fully expecting this to be similar to a DMV experience with crazy long lines and unavoidable headaches - but this was quick and painless. I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment, and was able to snag a 9:30 a.m. slot for the next day. I will say that finding the right phone number to call took some digging - I started with the number listed on Apple Maps, but was stuck on hold for a long time with what I'm assuming was the national SSA line. Then - I pulled up their Yelp page, found a different number listed, and was connected to this local office within seconds. If you're reading this review - the correct number is (866) 504-4224. Another note - this office requires masks. They do have disposable ones available near the door if you forgot one at home. Making an appointment is definitely the move. When I arrived, there were around a dozen other parties waiting in the lobby - but after signing in, my name was called just a few minutes later. From then on, I was served quickly and sent on my way. The woman assisting me was friendly and efficient. Waited on hold for approx 45-mins. When I finally got someone I tried explaining my request but she then placed me on hold again. When she came back she proceeded to tell me I needed to come in. That what I was requesting was a lot of paperwork (change in monthly start date-pretty easy). I told her she was the fourth person I talked to and the only one who said it was necessary to come in. She then proceeded to tell me she wasn't in the mood for this today and hung up on me. Truly unbelievable. read more

When I went there, which was a couple weeks ago, there was no interaction with the customers. The security man was unpleasant and when I got to see the employee, he also was very unfriendly. I felt like I was a bother to them. Also, I think they hate their jobs but stay there because it's a government job with good benefits, that's all read more

Thw worst customer service available. The original lady shut her window in my face. The guard was completely rude. I called to speak w supervisor and "she was in a training" they can't transfer to her voice-mail, they aren't allowed to take my name and phone number, they won't give out their name. The other supervisor went to lunch and "didn't come back." Thw worst I have ever experienced! Absolutely terrible!​ read more

Went to do an address change waited 2 hours then the women i saw took away some of my ssi. Totally illegal what she did so i now have to do an appeal. This older lady was very inaccurate about everything and had a bad attitude. This office needs to be seen by higher ups to stop these problems. Four months now, FOUR, we've been just trying to set up how to turn in our paystubs online and have been given a runaround every time. Then the local office in Florence, KY has given us different info every time, today even going so far as to say the website to turn the stubs in has been busted for SIX MONTHS and that's likely why we've not been able to use it. Also the past 2 times we've called the Florence office we've been hung up on when asking what else we can do to get this going since obviously nothing's working on SSA's end. Honestly, they need to shut down the Florence KY office at this point until they get their crap straight and actually train some people to both know what they're doing and not be rude! ONE guy in 8 calls was actually kind and polite, the rest were rude, short, and crabby, totally unprofessional. read more

I was told that my social security card need to be updated due to my status change, so i drove there directly, the parking lot is empty, immediately i had a bad feeling. When i get in the first door, the 2nd door to the office is closed, the security guard walks to the door and ask me whether i have an appointment. I said no. He said you need to make appointment by phone first. Can't believe in April 2022, while CDC already eliminated the mandated mask order, this office is still open only for appointment only. I looked inside, it's completely empty! I called the number the guard told me, called 4 times, every time phone line get cut off in the last step to speak to the representative. I get mad, i made 5th call, finally get the real person to speak to and made the appointment! That's unbelievable! So today i went in again, the guard checked my name and ID, then let me in. Had to visit the Social Security office this week. Surprisingly, the crowd was light. I only waited 30 minutes to talk to someone. When it was my turn, I got window #2. Now... the two previous visitors to window #2 were less than cordial to the young lady providing services... this was disappointing, but not surprising. So, needless to say, I was on my best behavior. And, it didn't hurt that I was there with my ducks in a row. Thanks very much to the SSA, and I he young lady in window #2. read more

Went there on 8-11-2023, wait was about 2 hours but I feel that that is pretty regular. One thing I did not appreciate was the way the security guard treated a women who was there with her 2 autistic children. He was very rude with the women & even sent her out crying, twice. He told her she would need to control her children or leave because she was disturbing the people in the waiting room. She apologized & explained that they were autistic. She left, came back, & after being in the for about 2 minutes he says "Alright, I can't listen to it anymore" & proceeded to tell her to leave again. She explained that they were protected under the ADA but he told her he didn't care & she needed to leave. Mind you he talked & disrupted us more than her & her children ever did. Not to mention he spoke illy of that women & her children after they left, to everyone in the waiting room. He also refused to give his name or badge number which I'm pretty sure he is legally required to do. Hope this man is punished for the way he acted. So sad & disrespectful. Just heartless. read more

I visited this office on 8/19/19 with a form filled out by my previous employer from where I retired in 2018. After a wait of 30 minutes, the gentleman at the window accepted my form as correct and said I would receive a new letter from SSA, showing the adjustment that was made, in 7-10 days. When I did not receive the letter in due time, I called the office who then informed me that they did not have any such form in their possession or showing on my account. I made a second trip to the office the next week and brought my copy of the accepted form and, after waiting 45 minutes, was told by the woman at the window that the form was not correct and would need to be filled out by my former employer again. When I asked why it was correct 2 weeks ago and not now, she had no explanation. She was rude and abrupt and offered no apology. Now I am having to go to the HR office in person to have the form filled out, because HR doesn't see how the original is correct. Customer service was terrible and these people are supposed to help the american people who pay their salaries. read more
