I have never had to visit the social security office prior to getting married before, but I expected it to be slow and hectic like most government offices. First off, it was easy to get too, but limited parking. I got there right at opening time (9am) and was still able to find a spot. There was a long line already formed so I made my way to the back with my 4 year old. The doors opened right on time and the line started flowing right in! An employee came outside and attended to the line giving each of us a number. Once I made my way inside about 5 minutes later, a man told me to head towards the back and I was helped immediately! I'm not sure how they run things in there, but it was fast, efficient, and organized like a damn Chick-fil-a! Happy it was a breeze!

I have now been sitting here for 3 hours. 3 freaking hours just to get a new Social Security card ordered. There's about 9 stations just not being used and if you want to sit in one of the unused cubicles to call someone without dealing with the overcrowded lobby, the lazy security card comes over and kicks you out. Like jesus I think i'd rather sit on I-10 in stop and go traffic than sit here for any longer. Figure it out

What makes this the best out of the three? This port of entry has like 12 check points and more than half of those are "ready lanes" which makes it faster than the other bridges. The only bad thing about it, is that once in a while the US Border side decides to close half of all the lanes and then chaos comes into place. Pro tip #1: Before you cross the border, please do yourself a favor and get the visa card that allows you to use the ready lane. If you only have a passport, you'll have to use the other lanes that take at least twice the waiting time. Pro tip #2: There is a website online called "reporte de puentes" which gives you a better idea of how long the line is. Pro tip #3: Don't come here without snacks. You'll be here a while and you'll start craving the chips that people sell at the bridge. Pro tip #4: Use the bathroom before you get here. There are no restrooms and no way you can stop to use one. Final and most important tip: IF you have the visa card that I mentioned on tip #1, always use the lane on the left side. This is the longest one, but this lane covers half of the bridge so it moves faster.

"It's A Great Day To Be A Soldier"…read more FBTX is the US ARMY's largest instillation, and a historic one. Situated directly on the border of Ciudad Juarez Mexico, this post was used for everything from border security, to tracking down the local bad guy Billy The Kid. And today, still serves as THE premier MFGI for mobilization, training and deployment of our GFMAP units deploying worldwide. FBTX stretches from its main flagpole in El Paso Texas, all the way to White Sands New Mexico (and, the military installations Dona Ana, McGregor Range Training Complex, Biggs Army Airfield, White Sands Missile Range, and a few others, all belong to FBTX and fall under the Bliss Flag. Hence being the largest installation in the world / Army). Home to THE 32 Army Air and Missile Defense Command (32 AAMDC - provides Air and Ballistic Missile Defense for every single location in the entire CENTCOM AOR, and small portions of EUCOM and NORCON), THE United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (the only one in the world), the Noncommissioned Officer Leadership Center of Excellence (the only one in the Army - NCOLoE), the 1st Armored Division (1AD), Joint Task Force North (JTF-N multi agency CIA, FBI, NSA, DEA, ATF, FAA, CDC, CBP, DHS, USA, USN, USMC, USAF), Joint Modernizations Command (JMC), 5th Armored BDE - 1st Army Division West's premier MFGI host (5AR / 1A) providing the largest OC/T mission in the Army, and a slew of other units from Special Forces to William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC), the largest and newest hospital in the entire south west - civilian and military alike. FBTX is also constantly modernizing. Those that were here 2010(ish) or sooner, will not recognize this place. The shopping center (known as freedom crossing), is state of the art and absolutely incredible. The fitness facilities, the constantly updating and improving housing (honestly in 22 years in the Army, I've yet to find nicer on-post housing), and even the restaurants! There is SO much to do and eat on FBTX. This is a great day to be a soldier, and FBTX, is a great place to be a soldier.

Because housing does Rock there is a long waiting list but calling at least 3 months before PCSing here and patience it is not impossible to get a home on post. Day Cares and Before and after program for kids are top of the line. The PX Rocks. The PX has BWW, Nice New Cinema, Texas Road House, Under Armor, 3 different places to get a hair cuts, bank, Orange Julius, Smash Burger, Bars, biggest class six I have seen, pretty decent clothing and sales (if it wasn't for their sucky costumer service) game stop, wide variety of other restaurants to get a quick bite to eat during lunch .. etc etc. Fort Bliss is large, it is in the corner of Texas so you must drive for hours if you want to change the scenery a bit. Soldiers and their families complaint but as humans thats what we do. Fort Bliss has an affordable golf course. The soldiers activity center in east Bliss has a rock wall, Eats Bliss also has a large indoors pool for you and the family to enjoy. Two USOs, Two libraries, plenty of green like areas yet Below are the complaints but regardless of them I have seen plenty of people getting out of the military and stay here lol - Its so Hot, During the Summer, Yes it is. - Its so dry, Of course! its the desert. - Looks just like a Afghanistan, Yes it does why do you think our training remains to be here. - The traffic lights on post take forever, Mainly on main post. - FORSCOM sucks - Of course, here and everywhere. - Its so windy during spring, this is my only legit complaint, yup.. Mid Feb to April the combination of wind and sand .. oh my, you better wash your face. - There is nothing to do, This is no tourists city but there is plenty to do in the area, specially if you are open minded, like hiking, and you are planning to drive. - The barracks suck, most barracks buildings have been renovated, many barracks in east Bliss has a large kitchen and a dinning room/living room like area. Now, if you are on main post yes your barracks will suck, but hopefully this gets fixed soon. - DFAC Food - Its not terrible. Fort Bliss and White Sands are the largest training area in the Army. Its Medical facilities need improvement, currently a new and large hospital is being built in East-east Bliss but til that opens they need improvement. Overall, With the money the DOD provides Fort Bliss is doing fine.

He was to replace all the damaged sheathing and wrong underlayment. RJ'S never replaced all the damaged sheading, he just covered it with underlayment. He never started work until 9:30 or 10:00 because he had to pick up his workers at the bridge coming from Juarez and left work at 2:00 p.m. We also signed a contract for $15,956.90 for repairs that rain damage caused inside the house the previous contractor's faulty work caused. He painted a bedroom, dining room and bathroom skylight. A painter he is not. They covered the wood floors with a dirty, crusted canvas with dried texture leaving all the powdery residue and also scraped my floors. He had to order new clay tiles to replace damaged clay tiles that were broken. We paid $7,694.50 for new tiles. He over-ordered and we were left with about 400 new clay tiles. He had completed all the work except hadn't steam cleaned the driveway and picked up his unused materials and equipment, Several times he called saying that he was coming and never showed up. He also wouldn't return our phone calls. He has failed two final inspections because he refuses to clean up and pick up his leftover materials and equipment. RJ'S called that he had scheduled another inspection for Wednesday 12/15/2025. He never showed up. We called the City Planning and Inspections Department. He had never scheduled an inspection.

There is a parking garage which I prefer to use any day when needing to visit. Their fees start at $2 after 10 minutes. They accept both credit card and cash. The garage safely supports vehicles up to 7 feet high. You may park outside on the street and use meters but during the week it gets complicated to find parking lot. 2. The security team is friendly and informative yet this does not mean they will let people/items pass by them. They will scan you and your belongings to ensure everyone is safe inside the building. 3. It takes longer to receive in the mail. Anyway, everything happened quickly enough. I parked in a parking lot across the street for an hour. I still had time left over when I got out! There are security guards who check your purse, pockets, etc. when you walk in. Your purse, back pack, etc. goes into a machine. It's like the ones you see at an airport before boarding the plane. The county clerk's office is downstairs to your right. You fill out a form about the purpose of your visit and get in line. The clerk was helpful and efficient. The only thing is...my name is misspelled on my birth certificate. I didn't even know it until he pointed it out. This is the office you also come to if you need a death certificate. The birth certificates are $23 and the death certificates are $21. I wanted an additional copy but he said it would be $23 more. Online it says $4 for additional copies. Overall, the process wasn't bad.
